  • So far, the studies on the dissolution of relationship have regarded dissolution intention as the final consequence, therefore have not investigated phenomena after the formation of dissolution intention. This study is a seminal work which shows the mechanisms of deterioration of dissolution intention toward complete dissolution. So, this study has the scope from the formation of dissolution intention and to the right before of the complete dissolution. This study has investigated the consequences of dissolution intention(increasing opportunism, decreasing transaction specific investment, and decreasing cooperation) and the relationships of them empirically. As the result of hypotheses test using data collected from 179 newspaper branch office samples, all hypotheses are supported. Dissolution intention has the positive effect on opportunism and negative effect on transaction specific investment. Opportunism decrease transaction specific investment and cooperation. And, transaction specific investment has the positive effect on cooperation. Finally, the authors discussed the theoretical contributions, managerial implications, and limitations of this study and presented the future research directions.

  • Using the 1998-2004 Health and Retirement Study(HRS), this study explored the determinants of private long-term care insurance(LTCI) ownership and the first home care use. To account for the interaction between LTCI purchase and home care use, this study used two-period utility model as theoretical framework. Discrete time model was used as an empirical model to incorporate the time-dependent feature of LTCI ownership. And this study accounted for the endogeneity of LTCI ownership and home care use by employing full information maximum likelihood estimation. This study indicated insignificant effects of private LTCI ownership and Medicaid eligibility on the home care use. Also, the effects of income and assets on home care utilization were negligible. Those who have poor health condition and who do not have potential informal caregivers were more likely to use home care. For private LTCI ownership, income and assets have positive relationship with LTCI purchase, and poor health status and age were negatively related to LTCI purchase. The elderly living with children and those who have more siblings were less likely to have private LTCI, and those who lived with spouses with no children were more likely to buy private LTCI. Based on the findings, this study provides implications to design long-term care(LTC) policies in the U.S. and to develop LTC planning education programs.

  • In order to improve nearly unarable soils, poor in humus and poorly drained coarse textured, derived from fluvio marine deposit; a factorial experiment have been conducted to find out the influence of compost, increased potassium application and split application of potassium on the yield and germination of soybean variety Haman. The result obtained arid discussed may be summarized as follows. (1) The soybean yield increase was significant by the application of compost, increased amount of potassium and split application of potassium. (2) The application of compost significantly increased the numbers of germination. (3) The increased amount of potash and split application of potash fertilizer showed an apparent effect on the increase of germination and grain numbers per plant. (4) There was a positive relation between the number of grains per plant and the number of pods per plant, however, the increased numbers of pods per plant has not a direct effect for the increase of soybean yield per unit area. (5) Above results suggests that the improvement of nearly unarable Woolsuk Island soils derived from fluvio marine coarse material may be possible by the application of compost, increased amount and split application of potash fertilizer.
