  • The purpose of this study is to develop technology valuation system for technology transfer, which is using and supporting knowledge information. The valuation system comprises estimation of latent business profit by supporting formatted patent and technology-products market information, analysis of contribution profit by using industrial standard and innovation step and value of technology by using a real option equation. This study suggests a successful system in order to valuate the technologies quantitatively, and to use and support knowledge information from KISTI databases or other selected internet Information.

  • While H.264/AVC is in wide use for multimedia applications such as DMB and IPTV service, we have limited usage cases for embedded real-time applications due to its high computational demand. The paper provides judicious guide line for optimization method selection, by presenting the detailed experiments data through the development process of a real time H.264 software encoder on embedded DSP. The experimental analysis includes an intensive profiling analysis, fast algorithm application, optimal memory assignment, and intrinsic-based instruction selection. We have realized a real-time software that encodes CIF resolution videos 15 fps on TMS320DM64x processors.

Enterprise-BOM design for management speed-up in the automotive industry (자동차 산업의 경영 스피드 향상을 위한 Enterprise-BOM 구조 설계)

  • Recently, as the product life cycle becomes shorter and customer needs becomes various, it has a great difficulty in managing the product information without the information technology. In this paper, we discuss how to classify numerous BOMs types and propose three categories-Structure-BOM, Display-BOM and Function-BOM for BOMs classification. Based on this result, we design the integrated BOMs management system with ERD(Entity-Relaion-Daiagram) model. This paper presented the methodology for management speed-up and communication innovation in the automotive industry, which incorporated the enterprise-wide product information. The proposed enterprise-BOM design methods also systemized the data related to automotive's principal attributes such as types of levels, options, colors, and consumers' orders. Efficient and flexible development of products can be achieved in the frequently varying environment of products.

KOSPI 200 Derivatives and Volatility Asymmetry of Stock Markets (KOSPI 200 파생상품 거래와 주식수익률 변동성의 비대칭성)

  • We examine whether new derivatives on KOSPI 200 affect volatility asymmetry of KOSPI 200 portfolio, relative to the carefully matched non-KOSPI 200 portfolio. To test the effect or new derivatives trading, we use GJR-GARCH model and newly developed Volatility Ratio(down-market volatility to up-market volatility ratio). Our results show that KOSPI 200 portfolio experiences lower volatility asymmetry than non-KOSPI 200 portfolio after the trading of new derivatives on KOSPI 200, especially after the introduction of stock index options(KOSPI 200 options). For non-KOSPI portfolio, no significant reduction in volatility asymmetry occurred when trading of stock index options began. Also, we find that in the period of after January 1999, the period of after do-regulations and Financial Crisis in the Korean capital market, volatility asymmetry of stock markets was significantly decreased. This means that level of volatility asymmetry is closely related to the level of market regulations. Further, the results of the paper show that leverage effect and changes in foreign exchange ratio can be good candidates for explaining the stylized volatility asymmetry in the Korean stock market.

Default Risk Mitigation Effect of Financial Structure and Characteristic in BOT Project Finance (BOT 프로젝트 파이낸스의 금융구조 및 특성의 채무불이행 위험완화 효과)

  • One of the advantages of BOT PF(Project Finance) is the government can be protected from risks involved in projects as the private finances, builds, and operates relevant projects. Moreover, the private may avoid outstanding responsibility in case of default thanks to BOT PF's unique financial structure and characteristics. However, despite increasing attention on risk mitigation effect of financial structure and characteristic of BOT PF to default risk with emerging controversies of capital crunch, introduction of IFRS, and contingent liabilities, valuation of default risk mitigation effect caused by financial structure and characteristics of BOT PF still seems sophisticated due to uncertain cash flows, complexly layered contracts, and their interaction. So, this paper is to show the theoretical frame to assess the default risk mitigation effect of financial structure and characteristic of BOT PF with option pricing and related financial economic theories and to provide some meaningful implications. Finally, this research shows that the financial structure and characteristics of BOT PF help mitigate the default risk and default risk mitigation effect increases as change of relevant variables on financial feasibility gets the BOT project less financially feasible.

Life Cycle of Index Derivatives and Trading Behavior by Investor Types (주가지수 파생상품 Life Cycle과 투자자 유형별 거래행태)

  • The degree of informational asymmetry relating to the expiration of index derivatives is usually increased as an expiration day of index derivatives approaches. The increase in the degree of informational asymmetry may have some effects on trading behavior of investors. To examine what the effects look like, 'life cycle of index derivatives' in this study is defined as three adjacent periods around expiration day: pre-expiration period(a week before the expiration day), post-expiration period(a week after the expiration day), and remaining period. It is inspected whether stock investor's trading behavior is changed according to the life cycle of KOSPI200 derivatives and what the reason of the changing behavior is. We have four results. First, trading behavior of each investor group is categorized into three patterns: ㄱ-pattern, L-pattern and U-pattern. The level of trading activity is low for pre-expiration period and normal for other periods in the ㄱ-pattern. L-pattern means that the level of trading activity is high for post-expiration period and normal for other periods. In the U-pattern, the trading activity is reduced for remaining period compared to other periods. Second, individual investors have ㄱ-pattern of trading large stocks according to the life cycle of KOSPI200 index futures while they show U-pattern according to the life cycle of KOSPI200 index options. Their trading behavior is consistent with the prediction of Foster and Viswanathan(1990)'s model for strategic liquidity investors. Third, trading pattern of foreign investors in relation to life cycle of index derivatives is partially explained by the model, but trading pattern of institutional investors has nothing to do with the predictions of the model.

Technology Innovation Activity and Default Risk (기술혁신활동이 부도위험에 미치는 영향 : 한국 유가증권시장 및 코스닥시장 상장기업을 중심으로)

  • Technology innovation activity plays a pivotal role in constructing the entrance barrier for other firms and making process improvement and new product. and these activities give a profit increase and growth to firms. Thus, technology innovation activity can reduce the default risk of firms. However, technology innovation activity can also increase the firm's default risk because technology innovation activity requires too much investment of the firm's resources and has the uncertainty on success. The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of technology innovation activity on the default risk of firms. This study's sample consists of manufacturing firms listed on the Korea Securities Market and The Kosdaq Market from January 1,2000 to December 31, 2008. This study makes use of R&D intensity as an proxy variable of technology innovation activity. The default probability which proxies the default risk of firms is measured by the Merton's(l974) debt pricing model. The main empirical results are as follows. First, from the empirical results, it is found that technology innovation activity has a negative and significant effect on the default risk of firms independent of the Korea Securities Market and Kosdaq Market. In other words, technology innovation activity reduces the default risk of firms. Second, technology innovation activity reduces the default risk of firms independent of firm size, firm age, and credit score. Third, the results of robust analysis also show that technology innovation activity is the important factor which decreases the default risk of firms. These results imply that a manager must show continuous interest and investment in technology innovation activity of one's firm. And a policymaker also need design an economic policy to promote the technology innovation activity of firms.

A study on the efficient application of the replicating portfolio according to the tax imposition within K-OTC market for activating financial transactions of small-medium and venture business (중소 벤처 기업의 금융거래 활성화를 위하여 K-OTC 시장에서 조세부과에 따른 복제포트폴리오의 효율적 활용에 대한 연구)

  • This paper makes a theoretical approach to the differences between transaction tax and capital gains tax when the financial instruments are traded and imposed taxes in K-OTC market, a newly emerging off-board market. Since it is difficult to reduce risk to the level which investors would like to pursue - depending on the taxation methods of portfolio-composed financial instruments - when it comes to forming a synthetic bond to hedge risk, this paper also seeks for effective taxation methods to make this applicable. First of all, to thoroughly review the taxation balance of synthetic bonds, this paper analyzed the effects of the transaction tax and capital gains tax imposed upon synthetic bonds according to the changes in final stock price and strike price in K-OTC market, and analyzed after-tax profit differences among them depending on whether income tax deduction took place or not. As a result of the research upon the tax gap in transaction tax and capital gains tax according to the changes of final stock prices, it was shown that imposing transaction tax is more likely to be effective for some level of risk hedging with replicating portfolio considering taxation policies and financial markets, since the effect of the transaction tax has a much lower tax gap than that of capital gains tax. In addition, in relation to whether income tax deduction was permitted or not, it was proved that the effect of the transaction tax and the capital gains tax vary depending on the variation in the strike price. Above all, it was shown that if the strike price is lower than the stock price, the transaction tax will be less affected by the existence of income tax deduction than the capital gains tax, while both will be equally affected by the existence of income tax deduction if the strike price is higher than the stock price. Further study would be to demonstrate the validation of this in the K-OTC market with actual financial instruments and, also, to seek for a more systematic hedging method by using a ratio analysis approach to the calculation of the option transaction tax

중국 공기청정 현황 - 중국의 환경규제 강화와 우리 기업의 대응

  • 중국의 급속한 산업화로 대기, 수질, 폐기물 등 환경오염문제가 심화, 고착화되면서 이를 개선하기 위해 중국 정부는 환경규제를 지속적으로 강화하고 있다. 또한 외국인 투자유치로 제조업 육성에 어느 정도 성공을 거둠에 따라 외국인 투자 유치와 제조업 경영활동에 있어 환경 이슈를 매우 중요시하고 있어 신규 및 사업확장에 제동이 걸리고 있다. 중국은 신규법인수 기준으로 우리나라의 최대 해외직접투자국이며, 제조업종에 대한 투자금액이 전체 투자금액의 88.3%를 차지하고 있다. 중국에 진출한 기업들은 중소기업이 전체 진출기업의 약 90%로 중국의 환경규제 강화는 중국에 진출한 우리 중소기업들에게 직접적인 영향을 미치고 있다. 중국 정부는 분야별 환경목표를 강화하고 오염물질배출 업체를 퇴출시키는 등 강력한 조치를 전개하고 있으며, 중앙 정부의 환경목표 강화 기조와 더불어 해당 지역민의 친환경에 대한 요구가 점차 커짐에 따라, 각 지방정부는 환경 관련 지역 목표 달성을 위해 업체 관리감독을 대폭 강화하고 있는 추세이다. 이러한 중국의 환경규제 강화는 진출 기업이나 진출을 준비하는 기업들의 설비투자비나 오염배출비용 부담 증가 등 상당한 리스크로 작용하고 있으며 향후에도 중국의 환경규제 강화 기조는 지속될 것으로 전망된다. 실제 중국에 진출한 기업들은 환경규제를 직접적으로 체감하고 있다. 규제집행의 강도가 눈에 띄게 높아져 엄격한 기준을 적용받고 처벌수위 역시 높아졌으며, 과거 관시를 통해 원만한 해결이 가능했다면 이제는 환경규제에 대해 원칙적이고 보수적인 공무원의 태도로 인해 관시로도 해결이 어려운 경우가 다반사이다. 또한, 주민들도 환경규제에 대한 인식수준이 높아짐에 따라 미미한 사안에도 즉각적인 반응을 보여 민원제기 사례가 빈번히 발생하고 환경안전 기준이 점점 높아짐에 따라 이에 대응하기 위해 환경안전 설비추가, 친환경연료 사용 등 추가적인 비용이 발생하고 있다. 이에 이미 진출한 기업들은 소재지 환경규제의 강화 전망 및 이로 인한 손실정도를 사전에 파악하고 다양한 옵션에서 대응전략을 마련해야 하며, 향후 중국 진출계획을 가지고 있는 기업들은 진출에 앞서 지역별로 차별화된 시장기회와 환경규제 강도 등 현지 실사를 통한 현장중심 리스크 분석을 실시해야 한다. 또한 이미 진출한 기업 및 진출예정 기업 모두 환경규제가 강화되고 있는 중국에서 사업을 하기 위해서는 법규와 기본원칙을 반드시 준수하고 규제가 더 강화될 것 이라는 기조를 인식할 필요가 있다.

A Smart Closet Using Deep Learning and Image Recognition for the Blind (시각장애인을 위한 딥러닝과 이미지인식을 이용한 스마트 옷장)

  • The blind people have difficulty living an independent clothing life. The furniture and home appliance are adding AI or IoT with the recent growth of the smart appliance market. To support the independent clothing life of the blind, this paper suggests a smart wardrobe with closet control function, voice recognition function and clothes information recognition using CNN algorithm. The number of layers of the model was changed and Maxpooling was adjusted to create the model to increase accuracy in the process of recognizing clothes. Early Stopping Callback option is applied to ensure learning accuracy when creating a model. We added Dropout to prevent overfitting. The final model created by this process can be found to have 80 percent accuracy in clothing recognition.
