  • The increase of the impermeable area due to industrialization and urban development distorts the hydrological circulation system and cause serious stream drying phenomena. In order to manage this, it is necessary to develop a technology for impact assessment of stream drying phenomena, which enables quantitative evaluation and prediction. In this study, the cause of streamflow reduction was assessed for dam and weir watersheds in the five major river basins of South Korea by using distributed hydrological model DrySAT-WFT (Drying Stream Assessment Tool and Water Flow Tracking) and GIS time series data. For the modeling, the 5 influencing factors of stream drying phenomena (soil erosion, forest growth, road-river disconnection, groundwater use, urban development) were selected and prepared as GIS-based time series spatial data from 1976 to 2015. The DrySAT-WFT was calibrated and validated from 2005 to 2015 at 8 multipurpose dam watershed (Chungju, Soyang, Andong, Imha, Hapcheon, Seomjin river, Juam, and Yongdam) and 4 gauging stations (Osucheon, Mihocheon, Maruek, and Chogang) respectively. The calibration results showed that the coefficient of determination (R2) was 0.76 in average (0.66 to 0.84) and the Nash-Sutcliffe model efficiency was 0.62 in average (0.52 to 0.72). Based on the 2010s (2006~2015) weather condition for the whole period, the streamflow impact was estimated by applying GIS data for each decade (1980s: 1976~1985, 1990s: 1986~1995, 2000s: 1996~2005, 2010s: 2006~2015). The results showed that the 2010s averaged-wet streamflow (Q95) showed decrease of 4.1~6.3%, the 2010s averaged-normal streamflow (Q185) showed decreased of 6.7~9.1% and the 2010s averaged-drought streamflow (Q355) showed decrease of 8.4~10.4% compared to 1980s streamflows respectively on the whole. During 1975~2015, the increase of groundwater use covered 40.5% contribution and the next was forest growth with 29.0% contribution among the 5 influencing factors.

  • This excrement was conducted to investigate the nuisance of swine excrement. And excrements were collected from 27 heads of swine Euseong swine breeding center and Hongdo-dong swine farm and amounts of faces and urine, nitrogen, phosphorus, and kalium contents and number of parasite were investigated, and for the purpose to clean of excrementing matter, ferment substance and moist soil added to swine excreting matter and floating matter. Heat decresement amount and biological oxygen demand were investigated. And the result obtained were as follows. 1) Average amount of daily excreting faces per swine was 500-2700g from Euseong swine breeding center and 450-2500g from Hongdo-dong swine farm and a mount of excreting urine was 450-4500g from both of farms. The rate of excrements between faeces and urine was 1:1 2) Nitrogen contents were 0.802 ppm in urine and 0.514 ppm in faces, phosphorus were 2.261 % in urine and 0.073% in faeces and kalium contents were 1.094% in and 6.0467% in faeces. 3) Strongyloides ransomi and intestinal modular worm eggs showed the highest of eggs number was the result of observation in parasites, and ascaris showed the next it, whip worm and lung worm showed the lowest. 4) The effect ferment substance additive, amount of dry matter, floating matter, heat decreasement amount and biological oxygen demand was decreased but not significant was appeared. And the effect of moist soil additive, it was more effective that fermented substance additive for the fermentation of swine excrement.

  • During the process of modernization, many rural villages in Korea have experienced degeneration and breakdown, losing sustainability. However, Oeam village in Asan City, South Chungcheong Province (State-designated cultural heritage, Important Folk Material No. 236) has established itself as a unique folk village, which evolves with sustainability, pursuing the revival of Neo-traditionalism. Oeam village is a tribal village of the Yis from the Yean region and has maintained environmental, economic, and social sustainability and soundness for over five centuries. Thus, the village has sustained itself well enough to be a cultural asset with 'Outstanding Universal Value', in terms of its value as world cultural heritage. The village maintains its own identity, filled with a variety of traditional and scenic cultural assets that symbolize a gentry village. Those assets include Confucian sceneries (head family houses, ancestral shrines, tombs, gravestones, commemorative monuments, and pavilions), various assets of folk religion (totem poles, protective trees at the entrance of a village, shrines for mountain spirits, village forests), tangible and intangible cultural assets related to daily lives (vigorous family activities, rigorous ancestral rituals, family rituals, collective agriculture and protection of ecosystem), which have all been well preserved and inherited. In particular, this village is an example of a well-being community with a well-preserved folksy atmosphere, which is based on environmentally sound settlements (nature + economy + environment + community) in a village established according to geomancy, East Asia's unique principle of environmental design. In addition, the village has kept the sustainability and authenticity for more than 500 years, combining restraint towards the environment and the view of the environment which respects the natural order and cultural values (capacity + healthy + sustainability). Therefore, the Oeam folk village can be a representative example of a folksy and scenic Korean community which falls into the category of IV (to exemplify an outstanding type of building, architectural or technological ensemble, or landscape which illustrates significant stages in human history) and V (to exemplify an outstanding traditional human settlement, land-use, or sea-use which is representative of cultures, or human interaction with the environment especially when it has become vulnerable under the impact of irreversible change) of Unesco's World Cultural Heritage.

  • This study is an experimental study on the single group pre-post test design for the effects of the exercise program combined with telephone coaching on postural balance, grip strength and depression of the elderly living alone. The subjects of this study were 20 elderly living alone who registered at a senior welfare center located in S City, Gyeonggi-do. A total of 12 session programs were applied from July 3 to October 14, 2021. Before and after the program, the participant's home was visited and 4 stage standing balance test(4 SBT), grip strength and depression were measured. The contents of the intervention consisted of elastic bands and grip balls, and weekly telephone coaching interventions were provided. In the result of this study, the exercise program combined with telephone coaching were statistically significant differences in 4 SBT(3stage)(t=-2.37, p=.029), 4 SBT(4stage)(t=-2.46, p=.024), right grip strength(t=-2.18. p=.042) and depression(t=2.82, p<.001). Therefore, it is expected that the exercise program combined with telephone coaching can be applied as a nursing intervention to improve postural balance, grip strength and reduce depression in the elderly living alone in the community.
