저순도 알루미나 예비소결체 절삭시의 공구 수명

  • 세라믹의 완전 소결체는 높은 경도와 취성을 가지기 때문에 연삭과 같은 입자가공이 행해지게 되어, 가공능률이 매우 낮고, 복잡한 형상 창성이 어렵다. 완전소결된 세라믹의 절삭가공에서는, 공구수명이 짧고, 가공속도가 매우 늦어 일반의 부품가공에 적용하기 어렵다. 또한 소결이 전혀 행해지지 않은 성형체의 절삭가공은 공작물의 강도가 약하기 때문에 가공속도, 가공능률, 부품의 척킹 및 치수 정밀도 등에 문제가 있다고 할 수 있다 이러한 문제 때문에 엔지니어링 세라믹의 고능률, 고품위 절삭에 관한 연구가 필요하다.(중략)

  • DUPIC 핵연료 개발에서는 소결체의 물성연구와 노내거동부터 연구를 시작하여 신 개념의 핵연료의 개발에 부합되는 조사시험 계획이 수립되어야 하기 때문에 DUPIC소결체의 물성 및 노내거동 연구를 캡슐을 이용하여 조사시험을 수행할 계획이다. 본 논문에서는 노외 시험 및 예비 특성화(Pre-Characterization)와 노내시험인 DUPIC 핵연료 소결체 시험 그리고 연료봉 조사시험에 필요한 항목들에 대하여 분석하였으며 DUPIC 소결체가 하나로 노심의 CT, IR2, IP9등에서 무계장 캡슐을 이용하여 조사될 경우의 출력을 평가 하였다. 또한 모의 핵연료와 DUPIC 핵연료 소결체의 조사시험을 위해 무계장 캡슐 (Capsule)에 대하여 연구 하였다.

기계적 합금화 방법으로 제조된 WC-Co 분말 및 소결체 특성 관찰

  • WC-Co 초경합금은 실온경도, 고온경도, 강도, 내마모, 내충격 등 기계적 특성이 우수하여 공구재료, 절삭공구 및 고압용 부품 등 다양한 응용분야를 가지고 있으며 WC-Co 분말 코팅같은 경우 항공분야, 일반 공업 분야에 내마모 특성 및 내열특성 향상을 위한 코팅용 소재로서 활용되어 지고 있다. 활용분야가 넓은 WC-Co 초경합금의 제조방법은 WC, Co 분말을 혼합하여 약 900도에서 1차 예비소결 후 원하는 형상 가공 후 약 1,300~1,600도에서 2차 소결을 진행한다. 지금 현재 초경분말의 조성, 크기와 같은 변수들에 따른 초경합금의 기계적 특성 변화에 대한 연구가 계속적으로 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 WC-Co 분말의 소결 특성을 향상시키고자 Planetary ball mill 장비를 활용하여 볼 밀링 공정을 진행하였고 Spark plasma sintering 장비를 활용하여 빠른 소결을 진행하였다. WC-Co 분말의 미세구조, 입도, 조성 및 분산의 변화를 관찰하기 위해 볼 밀링 전, 후 분말을 분석하였고 제조된 분말의 소결 특성을 확인하기 위해 상용화 된 WC-Co 분말의 소결 특성과 비교 평가하였다. 분석 결과 볼 밀링 공정 후 분말은 약 15 ${\mu}m$에서 4.4 ${\mu}m$로 미세해지는 것을 확인하였고 밀링 후 분말로 초경합금을 제작하였을 때 기존 상용화 초경합금제작 온도보다 약 100~400도 낮아지면서 경도 값은 약 20% 향상된 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • The setting of a presintering temperature is carried out on the basis of the Vickers hardness of the presintered compact in the method for producing a ceramic sintered compact comprising presintering a formed compact composed of a ceramic powder and a sintering assistant, then machining the presintering compact and subsequently sintering the machined compact. The Presintering temperature is preferably set at a temperature so as to provide 213-230 Hv Vickers hardness of the compact for presintering. Furthermore, the presintering temperature is preferably within the range of 1,300-1,450$^{\circ}C$.

  • Difficulties lies on using the dust from iron making process as a raw material for sintering process mainly because of high amount of Zn or alkali content and its ultra fine characteristics. To eliminate these toxic influence, new fluxing materials were tested and could get a very successful results. This fluxing materials, Calcium-ferrite of magnesio-ferrite were made from various waste materials such as lime stone sludge, bag filter dust, waste EP dust and dolomite sludge by simple way of pre-sintering. Sintering behavior as a fluxing materials was revealed to be good in any aspects and new concept of total recycling system could be established.

Tool Wear in Turning of the Presintered Low Purity Alumina (저순도 알루미나 예비소결체 선삭시의 공구 마멸)

  • In this study, unsintered, presintered and full-sintered low purity alumina ceramics were machined with various tools to clarify the machinability and the optimum cutting conditions. The main conclusions obtained were as follows. (1) Machined with alloy steel tool, the machinability of the presintered ceramics becomes better with the decrease of presintering temperature, but that of unsintered ceramics(white body) was extremely poor. (2) In the case of carbide, K01, the tool life in machining the white body was the longest, and the machinability of presintered ceramics becomes poorer with the increase of the presintering temperature. (3) The K01 tools exhibit longer life than the P10 tools in machining both the white body and the ceramics presintered at $1450^\circC$ or higher temperatures, but the P10 tools shows longer tool life than the K10 tools in machining of the ceramics presintered at temperatures below $1450^\circC$.

  • In this study, presintered and full sintered low purity alumina ceramics were machined with various tools to clarify the effect of cutting fluid in machinability. The main conclusions obtained were as follows. When the presintered ceramics were wet machined with sintered diamond tool, the tool wear becomes extremely large, and higher cutting speed can be used than in the case of full sintered ceramics. The productivity of wet cutting with the sintered diamond tool is much higher than that of dry cutting. In the case of the CBN and ceramic tools, the tool wear were smaller at wet cutting than at dry cutting, especially exhibiting considerably larger grooved tool wear in wet cutting with ceramic tool.

Effect of Metal Chloride Coloring Liquids on Color and Strength Changes of Tetragonal Zirconia Polycrystals (금속염화물 착색제 침투가 정방정 지르코니아 다결정체의 색조와 강도 변화에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of metal chloride infiltration treatment on color and strength changes of the yttria-stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystals (Y-TZP). Fifty disc specimens were prepared with a Y-TZP powder (ZPEX; Tosoh, Japan). Thirty different metal chloride solutions containing 0.03~0.08 wt% chromium and 0.03~0.07 wt% terbium ions were prepared. Presintered Y-TZP specimens were soaked in metal chloride coloring liquids for 3 minutes and sintered in air at $1,450^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours. The color of the specimens was measured with spectrophotometer and color difference (${\Delta}E^*$) was obtained based on the CIE $L^*$, $a^*$, $b^*$ color coordinate values. To evaluate the effect of metal chloride infiltration strength changes, the biaxial flexural test was performed at crosshead speed 0.5 mm/min. Colors of the sintered Y-TZP showed the colors of Vita shade guide A1, A2 and A3 with the infiltration of chromium and terbium chloride solutions. Density of the sintered Y-TZP increased by the infiltration of chromium and terbium chloride solutions. Bi-axial flexural strength of the sintered Y-TZP did not show statistically significant differences by the infiltration of chromium and terbium chloride solutions (p>0.05). Chromium and terbium chloride did not affect the crystal phase of zirconia, and all specimens showed tetragonal phase. Accordingly, this study suggests that chromium and terbium chlorides can make colored zirconia while adding in a liquid form. The color of colored zirconia differ from that of vita shade guide but it can use all ceramic restoration as substructure in dental clinic.

  • Hot upsetting experiments were carried out on presintered steel powder preforms in the temperature range 700- $950^{\circ}C$ to examine the hot deformation behavior. Following conclusions were drawn on the basis of the present study. -The flow stress during hot deformation is directly related to $\alpha$- $\gamma$ phase trasformation - The flow stress of ferrite is lower than that of austenite in the moderate temperature range 800- $900^{\circ}C$ for most alloys used in the present study - Major restoration behavior during hot deformation in the ferrite range is dynamic recovery.
