The original delicately describes the life of Erika who has been living under the supervision and control by her mother. The topic of the is the conflict between the controlling mother and the desires of the heroin Erika who has been living under the suppression. The world of suppression symbolized by her mother is described as closed and dark space while the world of Erika and her desires, represented by Walter is described as open and bright space. • In order to attain 'reality', technology, style and narrative have developed throughout the history of cinema. The projection of digital image necessitated a new perspective beyond the conventional relationship between film and reality. In the SF film, DISTRICT 9, strong realism elements are evident despite its genre. Advanced technologies enabled the digital images to vividly reproduce the realm of imagination. The encounter of the realistic approaches embedded in the style and narrative with the digital images emphasizes the social context of the cinematic background, as well as extending the potentialities of verisimilitude and perceptual realism. The amount of freedom in editing process derived from this film's documentary-like style opened a possibility for the effective delivery of the vast information-furthermore contributing to the realism of the film by encompassing the diversity that exists in the reality.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the 'depth of the film image' and to discuss its aesthetic implications in the Wes Anderson's films. In this study, I have analysed his two recent representative films, (2014) and (2012). As a result, it is found that Wes Anderson created a symmetrical composition with the depth by placing symmetrically things on the Z axis or using one-point perspective. In general, symmetrical composition is a two-dimensional form. The symmetrical composition in these two films, however, has the depth perception. It gives a sense of the fantastic world, not the real world. Thus, it is the unique way of Wes Anderson's expressing the world of the fairy tale on his films. It is also found that he used the camera work, emphasizing the depth of the image. Through these devices, Wes Anderson has created his own sensational mise-en-scene for a storyline like a fairy tale.

  • This paper investigates how digital technology innovates the aesthetic ontology of film images. The modern civilization of computer and internet bring about the new ontology of film images. Digital hybrid image expands the contradictory combination of physical reality and filmic fantasy. It is inevitable to recount Walter Benjamin' s concept of mechanical reproduction in the age of digital cinema. The modern condition of image arts changes the concept of mechanical reproduction to the logic of digital configuration. In addition, computer simulation innovates the film aesthetics of montage to the aesthetics of digital collage. The technological and aesthetical development of computer simulation and internet network leads to the new ontology of digital hybrid images. This study suggests a new theoretic point that the aesthetic ontology of digital hybrid images leads to the expansion of filmic fantasy and expression.

Furthermore, the film placidly discusses the growth and agony in humans and the society without expressing it excessively, so it will be a valuable research result to inspire the trend of creating films that incorporate new imaging technology and original visualization techniques.
