The Optimal Enrichment Condition of Rotifer Brachionus rotundiformis (소화효소 활성으로 본 rotifer Brachionus rotundiformis의 적정 영양강화 조건)

  • The purpose of the study was to suggest the optimal lipid enrichment conditions used digestive enzyme activity of rotifer changing due to water temperature and salinity. The high population growth appeared at the experiment temperature more than 28 degrees highly on the culture temperature(maximum 32 degrees, 1,453 individual/mL). The fecundity was low at high temperature, and the egg ratio was high at low temperature. Population growth of 10 and 15 ppt appeared in most highly, but the fecundity and the egg ratio were high most significantly appeared in natural seawater(32 psu). The digestive enzyme activity by the culture environment mainly showed high activity in natural seawater(amylase exclusion, 15 psu). However, the TAP activity by the water temperature showed highly at the more high temperature, but the amylase and the lipase appeared at low temperature. We carried out the lipid enrichment at 20 degrees and 26 degrees in a condition of the natural seawater. Total protein, the total essential amino acids differed not significantly. The methionine content that was essential amino acids, a total lipid content, unsaturated index of fatty acids, DHA and the DHA/EPA ratio were high significantly each in $20^{\circ}C$ enrichment trial. Therefore, we could suggest the $20^{\circ}C$ and natural seawater for the optimal lipid enrichment condition in aquaculture, because methionine contents, several indexes by the lipid, TG-lipase activity, fecundity and egg ratio are high.

A Study on the Bioavailability of Calcium in Eggshell Powder Fortified Ramen in the Growing Rats (성장기 쥐에서 난각분 강화라면의 칼슘 이용성에 관한 연구)

  • This study has investigated the bioavailability of calcium in eggshell powder (ESP) fortified ramen. Wean-ling SD rats were maintained for 2 weeks on 0.05$\%$ low calcium diet then assigned randomly to one of 5 groups. Animals were provided for 4 weeks one of 3 different experimental diets containing 0.15$\%$ calcium as $CaCo_{3}$, NFDM, or ESP fortified ramen. Two control groups were fed either 0.05$\%$ calcium or general ramen containing 0.08$\%$ calcium. The body weight, diet intake, food efficiency ratio (FER), bone growth, calcium contents of bones, and apparent absorption were measured. Experimental results show that regardless of calcium sources 0.15$\%$ calcium groups increased body weight, weight and length, calcium content, and the strength of two bones (tibia and femur) significantly compared to 0.05$\%$ calcium group. The apparent absorption rate of calcium also showed similar results supporting the bioavailability of ESP fortified ramen is not inferior to either NFDM or $CaCO_{3}cdot$ The results indicate that ESP fortified ramen is a proper mediate for calcium fortification in Korea.

Effeet of L-lysin.HCI Fortification on the Quality of Rice Protein (쌀단백질의 L-lysin.HCI 강화에 관한 연구)

  • A study was made to investigate the effect of L-lysine fortification on the quality of rice protein by albino rat-feeding trials. Five subjects fed diets providing 1) rice protein only, 2) rice protein+0.25% L-lysin HCI, 3) rice protein+0.5% L-lysin HCI, 4) rice protein+0.75% L-lysin HCI and 5) rice protein+1.0% L-lysin HCI for 28 days respectively. Protein efficiency ratio(PER) indicated that 0.25% lysine fortified diet had highest value. Lower PER values were shown in the higher fortified diets(0.5% through 1.0% L-lysine) comparing to 0.25% fortified diet. However, there was no adverse effect on the protein quality by the given fortificaton level($0{\sim}1.0%$ L-lysin HCI addition).

  • 양식산업에서 널리 이용되는 rotifer와 같은 먹이생물의 고도 불포화지방산 (n-3 HUFA)함량은 양식 초기의 치자어의 정상적인 생존 및 성장을 위해서 필수적이다. 그러나 담수산 농축 Chlorella를 이용하여 대량 배양한 rotifer들은 고도 불포화 지방산 함량이 낮아 해산 어류 자어에 먹이로 공급시 문제점으로 보고되고 있다 (Yoshimatu et al., 1997). 따라서 영양강화를 위한 여러 가지 2차 배양법이 실시되고 있다. 이들 2차 배양은 고도 불포화 지방산 함량이 높은 emulsified oil이 주로 사용되고 있으나, Park et al.(1999)에 의하면 emulsified oil은 rotifer들의 흡착을 유발하여 개체수 감소 등의 문제점을 유발한다고 보고하였다.
