Study on the Chlorination reaction of Pyrochlore with Carbon Tetrachloride gas (사염화탄소에 의한 복합광(Pyrochlore)의 염화반응 연구)

  • 본 연구는 Ta, Nb, Zr, 및 희토류 등을 복합적으로 함유한 복합광을 대상으로 사염화탄소에 의한 염화반응을 알아보기 위한 기초연구로서 각 산화물의 염화반응 특성을 알아보고 이를 토대로 복합광의 염화반응을 비교하여 보았다. 실험결과 산화물 상태의 Nb, Ta 및 Zr은 비교적 낮은 온도에서 염화반응이 일어나고 염화물이 휘발됨을 알 수 있었다. 복합광을 반응 온도 $400^{\circ}C,\;CCl_4$ 분압 0.28 일때 반응시간이 10분에서 60분으로 변함에 따라 니오븀 및 탄탈륨은 $91%{\sim}99%$의 높은 회수율을 나타내었으나 지르코늄은 각각 16.5%에서 27.5%로 약간 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다. 희토류의 경우 세륨은 반응율이 71.7에서 73% 정도였고 란타늄은 51%에서 54% 정도의 반응율을 나타내었다.

$U_3O_8$ 분말의 염화물 전환에 관한 연구

  • 우라늄 염화물의 생성을 위한 U$_3$O$_{8}$ 분말의 염화반응에 대한 열역학적 해석을 수행하여 실험조건을 도출하였고 이를 실험적으로 확인하였다. U$_3$O$_{8}$ 분말의 탄소, 염소와의 염화반응은 비가역 발열반응으로서 아르곤 기체분위기에서는 옥시염화물의 생성이 억제된 우라늄 염화물들을 생성할 수 있었다. 염화반응 적정온도 범위는 863~1065k로서 이 온도범위에서의 반응종결시간은 U$_3$O$_{8}$ 분말 60g을 기준으로 약 4시간 이내였고, 반응온도가 높을수록 반응속도가 빠르게 나타났다. 우라늄 염화물의 비휘발 회수율은 생성된 우라늄 염화물 총량의 30% 이내로 낮게 나타났다.

  • The rate of chlorine-exchange reaction of antimony trichloride with benzyl, $\alpha$-phenyl ethyl and diphenyl methyl chlorides in nitrobenzene have been determined. The results indicate that the chlorine-exchange reaction follows second-order kinetics with respect to antimony trichloride and first-order kinetics with respect to organic chlorides. Rate = $k_3[SbCl_3]^2$ [Org-Cl] The rate constants of chlorine-exchange of antimony trichloride with organic chloride increase in the following order of the organic chlorides. Benzyl chloride < $\alpha$-phenyl ethyl chloride < diphenyl methyl chloride The mechanism of the chlorine-exchange reactions has been proposed.

  • The chlorination kinetics of synthetic rutile prepared by selective chlorination of ilmenite with Cl2 and CO gas mixture were studied in a fluidized bed. Th e effects of reaction temperature, reaction time, and the ratio of Cl2 and CO partial pressure ($p_{Cl_2}/p_{CO}$) on the conversion rate of TiCl4 were investigated. The conversion rate of TiC4 was low under the high $p_{Cl_2}/p_{CO}$ conditions. Moreover, it was considered that the partial pressure of CO gas was more effective than that of Cl2 gas when comparing the stoichiometric conversion rate and experimental results of high CO partial pressure. Considering the porous structure of particles, the rate controlling step of the chlorination of synthetic rutile was determined to be chemical reaction and the activation energy was calculated as 53.77 kJ/mol.

  • The kinetics of the solvolysis of 2-furoyl chloride and 2-thenoyl chloride in $MeOH-H_2O,\;EtOH-H_2O,\;(Me)_2CO-H_2O,\;MeCN-H_2O$ and MeCN-MeOH has been investigated. The rates were faster in protic solvents than in aprotic solvents. This was caused by the bond breaking of leaving group through hydrogen-bonding solvation of protic solvents. In MeCN-M$\'{e}$OH the rate in MeOH rich solvents was faster than in MeCN rich solvents by the specific solvation of alcoholic hydrogen and there was a maximum rate of reaction at MeOH mole fraction of 0.8. The reaction rates of solvolysis were considerably slower than those of benzoyl chloride owing to the electron withdrawing effect of thienyl and furyl groups. It was concluded that solvolytic reaction proceeds via a dissociative $S_N2$ mechanism in which bond-breaking precedes bond-formation at the transition state.

  • Study on chlorination of ilmenite ore were carried out by using PVC(polyvinyl chloride) as the chlorinating agent in a static bed reactor for selective removal of iron. The effect of amount of PVC and reaction temperature were investigated. It was found that the removal ratio of iron increased with amount of PVC and temperature. After reaction with HCl gas generated from PVC, porous surface of the specimens were observed. As a result, HCl gas could react with iron in the central portion of ilmenite particle through these pores. Examination of data using kinetic model suggest that the selective chlorination rate is controlled by chemical reaction at the interface of particles. The activation energy for the selective chlorination of ilmenite using PVC was calculated as 20.47 kJ/mol.

  • Experimental study on effects of factors on the reaction crystallization of silver chloride in rushton type reactor. The size and size distributions of the silver chloride crystals were observed to be markedly affected by the agitation speed of solution, and feeding rate, feeding mode and concentration of reactants. From experimental data it was inferred that in the reaction crystallization of silver chloride the supersaturation level of silver chloride and concentration of excess ions in the solution, and mass transfer rate around the crystals were implicitly interrelated with factors and directly affected on the crystal nucleation and grwoth processes. However, the morphology of the silver chloride crystal was not changed by factors.

Effects of Calcium Chloride Concentration and Reaction Time on Physical and Sensory Characteristics of Persimmon Calcium Alginate Beads (염화칼슘 농도와 반응시간에 따른 감 칼슘 알지네이트 비드의 물리적 및 관능적 특성)

  • The purpose of this study is to apply molecular gastronomy and its spherification methodology to persimmon desserts. We prepared persimmon calcium alginate beads and investigated physical and sensory characteristics of beads according to the different concentration of calcium chloride(0.5, 0.75, 1.0%) and reaction time(2, 4, 6, 8, 10 min). Lightness and yellowness were decreased significantly as both calcium chloride concentration and reaction time increased. However, redness was increased significantly as the concentration of calcium chloride and reaction time increased. Hardness, springiness, chewiness, cohesiveness, and resilience except for adhesiveness tended to increase as the concentration of calcium chloride and reaction time increased. The thickness of beads also increased as the concentration of calcium chloride and reaction time increased. Quantitative descriptive analysis showed that voluminosity, springiness, hardness, chewiness, and residue tended to increase as the concentration of calcium chloride increased. Overall acceptability reached a peak at the persimmon bead containing 0.5% calcium chloride. The result of this study showed that the concentration of calcium chloride and reaction time influenced the overall characteristics of calcium alginate beads.

  • 사염화우라늄 제조를 위해 염소가스와 탄소를 이용한 이산화우라늄의 염소화반응에 대하여 연구하였다. 이론적측면에서 열화학적 자료를 이용한 계산을 통하여 일어날 수 있는 반응들을 확인하였으며, 염소화반응이 진행되는 동안 초래될 현상에 대하여 검토하였다. 실험결과로 부터 반응온도, 반응시간 및 질소가스 주입비율이 사염화우라늄 제조에 미치는 영향을 정량적으로 평가하였다. 순수한 이산화우라늄을 사용한 사염화우라늄 제조공정에서의 적절한 반응시간과 반응온도는 각각 약 2시간과 50$0^{\circ}C$-$700^{\circ}C$범위였으며, 질소가스의 적정 주입량은 염소가스의 약 50%로 나타났다.

Study on the Synchronous Recycling of EAF Dust and Waste PVC (폐PVC와 전기로 제강분진의 동시재활용을 위한 기초연구)

  • PVC(polyvinyl chloride) powder were mixed with EAF(Electric Arc Furnace) dust and made as pellets. In order to recover the hydrochloride emitted from pyrolysis of PVC and the valuable metals in dust through making chlorides, pellets were roasted at $300 ^{\circ}C$ and investigated about the generation of chlorides. Two dust samples were collected at I steel making Co. and P Co. (called I dust and P dust respectively), which were mainly composed of zincite and franklinite. It was confirmed that about 50% of Zn in I dust and 48% of Zn in P dust compose zincite. The emission of HCl gas was completed in 15 min at 30$0^{\circ}C$ and the HCl mostly reacted with dust and made chlorides under 20% PVC mixed ratio. Because the reaction of HCl with zincite was faster than with franklinit, when generation and volatilization of ferric chloride is not allowed, the equivalent PVC powder mixed ratio in pellet depended on the amount of zincite in dust.
