Salinity and water level measuring device using fixed type buoyancy (고정식 부력을 이용한 염도 및 수위 측정 방식에 대한 연구)

  • To make an automated system for a salt field, it is necessary to measure the salinity and water level of the evaporation site. In this paper, a method to simultaneously measure the salinity and water level by measuring the buoyancy forces of two fixed buoyancy bodies is proposed. The proposed measurement method measures the buoyancy of the main part and reference part when the measuring device is immersed in the salty water, and simultaneously measures the salinity and water level through the sum and difference of the two buoyancy forces. Since there is no mechanical movement in the measurement of buoyancy, measurement errors and maintenance needs can be reduced in the mudy environment of salt field. By applying the proposed method, we developed a system that can simultaneously measure salinity and water level remotely at the evaporation site of a salt field. Through a measurement experiment using a reference salty water having various levels of salinity, the results of a salinity error of 0% and a water level error of 2mm were obtained, and the effectiveness of the proposed salinity and water level measuring device was verified. When an automated system is constructed using the developed salinity and water level measuring device, labor reduction, work environment improvement, and productivity improvement are expected.

Gastric Dilatation and Volvulus in Shih-tzu (시츄에서 발견된 위확대염전)

  • Gastric dilatation and volvulus (GDV) is an acute and life-threatening disease most commonly affecting large- and giant-breed dogs. However a 17-year-old Shih-tzu (4 kg, spayed female) was hospitalized for acute GDV. Repeated unproductive retching, lethargy, and excessively enlarged abdomen were observed. Physical examination indicated that the patient had suffered from hypothermia ($36.5^{\circ}C$), tachycardia (240 bpm), slowed capillary refill time (> 2 sec.), and pale mucous membrane. Grade III murmur with normal lung sound was auscultated. Abdominal palpation revealed that tympanic regions existed in both the left and right sides. Systolic blood pressure decreased gradually from 220 to 40 mmHg within 4 hours. In blood analysis, slight azotemia was observed by blood urea nitrogen (BUN; 29.1 mg/dl) and creatinine (1.6 mg/dl). Blood lactate concentration (8.13 mmol/l) was severely elevated. Additionally, dilatation and volvulus of the stomach was observed by radiograph. Supportive oxygen, heat, fluid, and drugs were administered with gastric decompressions (e.g., gastrocentesis and nasogastric tube). However the patient entered into comatose status with uncontrollable systolic blood pressure, despite the administration of dobutamine intravenously. The case was closed by euthanasia, considering welfare and age. We finally diagnosed the patient as a GDV, thus this is the first GDV case report in small-breed dog such as Shih-tzu.

호염성 세균의 생리적 특성

  • 국내 염장식품 및 염전으로부터 세균을 분리하여, 호염성 세균의 NaCl 농도에 따른 성장범위, 생리적 및 효소학적 특성을 조사하고자 했다. 염전으로부터 NaCl 20%배지에서 14주와 총 16종류의 젓갈류에서 NaCl 10% 배지로 56균주의 호염성 세균을 분리하여 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25% NaCl농도에서 성장률을 조사하고 최적온도 및 배지조성과 함께 동정에 필요한 생리실험을 하였다. 또한 세포의 효소로서 Lactate dehydrogenase, Glucokinase, Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, Alanine dehydrogenase, Isocitrate dehydrogenase 등의 특성도 조사하였다. 선별한 균주중 Acinetobacter sp, 등이 관찰 조사되었으며 최적 성장 NaCl농도는 10%이고, 최적온도는 3$0^{\circ}C$이며, 25% NaCl, 45$^{\circ}C$에서 자란 Halobacterium sp. 등이 분리되었다. 그중 Acinetobacter strain H6는 단백분해효소와 탄수화물 분해효소의 생성능이 15>10>20% NaCl순이며, 특히 Lactate dehydrogenase 활성은 2>3>1>OM NaCl 순으로 나타났고, NaCl 대신 KCl을 사용했을 때는 3>2>1> OM순으로 활성이 나타났다.

  • 마그네슘은 자동차 엔진 경량화재료, 휴대폰케이스 등 기능성 경량재료로서의 용도개발과 함께 수요가 증가하고 있다. 마그네슘 제련법은 원료광의 특성에 따라 달라지는데 크게 용융염전해법과 열환원법 두 가지로 구분할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 염화마그네슘을 사용하여 용융염전해법에 의해 전해 마그네슘을 얻고자 하였다. 전해전압 7V로 일정한 전극침지 깊이에서 두 가지 염욕을 비교 실험하였으며, $KCl/NaCl/MgCl_2$ 혼합 염욕을 $760^{\circ}C$에서 전해한 결과 약 47%의 전류효율을 달성할 수 있었다. 회수된 전해 마그네슘의 순도는 98% 이상이었다. 본 연구를 통하여 용융염 전해장치를 스케일엎하거나 상용화시에 장치설계 등에 필요한 기초 자료들을 축적할 수 있었다.

A Study on the Space Composition and Characteristic of Architecture in the Saltern (천일 염전의 공간구성과 건축특성에 관한 연구)

  • The objectives of this study are understanding on the type and the characteristic of the architecture in the saltern. At result, there are warehouse of the salt, residence of salt man and office building. These architectures are clearly different from Korean traditional architecture and constructed in special area (a saltern), on special purpose. These are not excellent architectural form, but materials and forms of these architectures are reasonably suitable for the regional characteristic and the function. Today, the architecture in the saltern, are gradually disappear, therefore the researches and the memories are meaningful in this study.
