A Study on the Condition Diagnosis for the Stator Coil of Traction Motor by Transient Surge (과도서지에 의한 견인전동기 고정자 코일의 상태진단 연구)

  • Aging and failure of motor insulation depend on the stresses imposed on it. The insulation life time depends on the severity of the stresses. The electrical aging by transient surge is very important to traction motor in EMU(electric multiple unit). This paper presents the insulation characteristics of stator coil by transient surge from inverter. There are several nondestructive tests available for checking the condition of motor insulation, the probable extent of aging, and the rate of which aging is taking place. So the insulation characteristics of stator coil were each analyzed by measurement of leakage current, dielectric loss(tan $\delta$), capacitance, polarization index(PI) and partial discharge. The method of diagnosis is able to analyze the aging condition and predict the life of the traction motor in EMU.

Degradation Characteristics of Carbon Dioxide Absorbents with Different Chemical Structures (상이한 화학적 구조를 가진 이산화탄소 흡수제의 열화특성)

  • We evaluated the degradation properties of various alkanolamine absorbents (MEA, AMP, DEA, and MDEA) having different chemical structures for $CO_2$ capture. The degradation of $CO_2$ absorbent in general was known to be caused by oxygen which is in flue gas and by heat source, respectively. To analyze the effect of $CO_2$ and $O_2$ on degree of degradation, we conducted a variety of experiments at $30^{\circ}C$ and $60^{\circ}C$ (oxidative degradation) and $130^{\circ}C$ and $150^{\circ}C$ (thermal degradation), respectively. DEA showed the worst property for oxidative degradation in the presence of oxygen among the alkanolamine absorbents. In the case of thermal degradation, the degradation of absorbent was occurred for most of absorbents at $150^{\circ}C$. Among these absorbents, MEA and DEA gave the worst results. As a result, AMP which is a primary amine and having a steric hindrance showed the best result through the degradation test. But, the degradation of absorbent proceeded easily in the case of DEA which is a secondary amine and having 2 OH groups in terminal position. Consequently, we have evaluated the degree of degradation of various absorbents having different chemical structures to give the basic data for the development of alkanolamine absorbent.

  • 본 논문에서는 새로운 방식의 스프라이트 생성 방법을 논하였다 스프라이트로부터 원 영상을 예측해 그 오차(SAD : Sum of Absolute Difference)를 제어하는 방법으로 다좌표계 스프라이트(MCS : Multi-Coordinate Sprite)를 제안하였다. 예측 오차를 제어함으로써 기존에 제안된 방법으로 생성된 정적 스프라이트 보다 좋은 화질을 갖는 원 영상을 예측할 수 있음을 보여준다. 특히, MCS 생성 기법은 기존의 방법으로 생성된 스프라이트로부터 영상을 예측했을 때 화질 열화가 심한 카메라의 확대 움직임이 심한 영상들을 포함한 영상열에 대해서도 제한된 오차를 갖는 원 영상을 복원해 낼 수 있다는 것을 보여준다.

Reliability Assessment of Normally-off p-AlGaN-gate GaN HEMTs with Gate-bias Stress (상시불통형 p-AlGaN-게이트 질화갈륨 이종접합 트랜지스터의 게이트 전압 열화 시험)

  • In this work, we performed reverse- and forward-gate bias stress tests on normally-off AlGaN/GaN high electron mobility transistors(HEMTs) with p-AlGaN-gate for reliability assessment. Inverse piezoelectric effect, commonly observed in Schottky-gate AlGaN/GaN HEMTs during reverse bias stress, was not observed in p-AlGaN-gate AlGaN/GaN HEMTs. Forward gate bias stress tests revealed distinct degradation of p-AlGaN-gate devices exhibiting sudden increase of gate leakage current. We suggest that forward gate bias stress tests should be performed to define the failure criteria and assess the reliability of normally off p-AlGaN-gate GaN HEMTs.

  • 멀티미디어 동영상의 부호화 알고리즘은 기본적으로 손실 부호화(lossy coding)이기 때문에 압축된 동영상에는 불가피하게 화질의 열화가 포함된다. 압축의 정도가 심하지 않거나 압축을 하더라도 영상이 단순하고 움직임이 적은 경우에는 이러한 열화의 영향이 인간의 눈에는 보이지 않지만, 압축률이 너무 높거나 원본 영상에 포함된 움직임이 복잡하거나 공간적으로 세밀한 영역이 많은 경우에는 손실이 심하여 시각적으로 거슬리는 다양한 잡음이 발생한다. 화면 떨림(flickering)은 시간 영역에서의 대표적인 부호화 잡음으로서 프레임율(frame rate)이 너무 낮은 경우에 움직임이 자연스럽지 않고 불연속적으로 튀거나 부호화 비트율(bit rate)을 제어하기 위해서 양자화 파라미터를 변동하는 과정에서 연속되는 프레임들의 화질에 차이를 보이면서 나타나는 현상이다. 본 논문에서는 DMB 환경에서 사용되는 주기적으로 I 프레임이 삽입되는 GOP(Group of Picture) 구조에서 화면 떨림 현상의 원인을 파악하고 멀티미디어 동영상의 시공간적 특성에 따라 특징적으로 나타나는 화면 떨림 현상을 분석한다. 실험 영상으로서 시공간적으로 다양한 특성을 보이며 H.264/AVC방식으로 부호화된 10개의 동영상을 선택하였으며, 양자화 파라미터를 낮은 화질의 영상에서부터 높은 화질의 영상까지 변화시키면서 화면 떨림 현상의 존재 여부 및 정도를 살펴보았다. 실험의 결과로 화면 떨림 현상은 영상의 화질이 너무 좋거나 너무 나쁘지 않은 중간 영역에서 중요하게 고려해야 할 부호화 잡음이며, 프레임 내의 세밀함의 정도, 움직임의 정도, 객체의 크기, 카메라의 움직임 등에 영향을 받음을 알 수 있다.

The RF performance degradation in Bulk DTMOS due to Hot Carrier effect (Hot Carrier 현상에 의한 Bulk DTMOS의 RF성능 저하)

  • This paper reports the hot carrier induced RF performance degradation of bulk dynamic threshold voltage MOSFET (B-DTMOS) compared with bulk MOSFET (B-MOS). In the normal and moderate mode operations, the degradations of cut-off frequency $(f_{T})$ and minimum noise figure $(F_{min})$ of B-DTMOS are less significant than those of B-MOS devices. Our experimental results show that the RF performance degradation is more significant than the U performance degradation after hot carrier stressing. Also, the degradation characteristics of RF power Performance of B-DTMOS due to hot carrier effects are measured for the first time.

Research for Investigation on the Browning of Paper due to the Corrosion of the Staples Used (스테이플러 철심에 의한 종이손상의 원인 연구)

  • Since its development in the United Kingdom, the stapler has been used extensively to bind books. Staples comprising almost entirely of iron, first made in the early 1900s, are used to staple the cores of books. These staples change the colour of paper to brown and this browned paper ultimately crumbles. Basic research is being performed on solutions to prevent the deterioration in the quality of paper in the area around the staples. In this study, the cause of this browning of paper in the area was investigated. SEM-EDS, optical microscopy and FT-IR were used to analyze a browned area of three paper samples. It was found that the browned area had shortened fibres. In addition, iron was detected in this area. The corrosion of this iron led to this area of the paper being partially covered by iron(III) oxide, the product of the corrosion, as determined by FT-IR spectroscopy.

ID Face Detection Robust to Color Degradation and Partial Veiling (색열화 및 부분 은폐에 강인한 ID얼굴 검지)

  • In this paper, we present an identificable face (n face) detection method robust to color degradation and partial veiling. This method is composed of three parts: segmentation of face candidate regions, extraction of face candidate windows, and decision of veiling. In the segmentation of face candidate regions, face candidate regions are detected by finding skin color regions and facial components such as eyes, a nose and a mouth, which may have degraded colors, from an input image. In the extraction of face candidate windows, face candidate windows which have high potentials of faces are extracted in face candidate regions. In the decision of veiling, using an eigenface method, a face candidate window whose similarity with eigenfaces is maximum is determined and whether facial components of the face candidate window are veiled or not is determined in the similar way. Experimental results show that the proposed method yields better the detection rate by about $11.4\%$ in test DB containing color-degraded faces and veiled ones than a conventional method without considering color degradation and partial veiling.

Degradation of Polymer Electrolyte Membrane under OCV/Low Humidity Conditions (OCV / 저가습 조건에서 고분자전해질 막 열화)

  • During PEMFC operation, OCV(open circuit voltage) and low humidity conditions accelerate the degradation of perfluorosulfonic acid membrane. There have been no studies that clearly explain why these conditions accelerate the membrane degradation. In this study, the hydrogen permeability through the membrane, I-V polarization of MEA, fluoride emission rate(FER) and $H_2O_2$ concentration in condensed water were measured during cell operation under OCV and low relative humidity(RH). The experimental results were evaluated with oxygen radical mechanism the most commonly known for membrane degradation. It seems that low RH of anode is a good condition for $H{\cdot}$ radical formation on the Pt catalyst and the OCV condition accelerate the $H{\cdot}$ to form $HO_2{\cdot}$ radical attacking the polymer membrane.

Study on Degradation Characteristic of Plastic Artwork for Conservation (플라스틱 작품 보존을 위한 열화 특성 연구)

  • Plastic artwork can be appeared crack, change of color and whitening event by various environment conditions. A large scale plastic artwork often exhibits in outside it will be directly degraded by physical and chemical degradation factor such as strong sunlight, high humidity and rainfall. We should know degradation characteristic of plastics to prevent these damages. In this study, we studied degradation characteristic of plastics (5 types of wide use plastics; polypropylene, polystyrene, polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, polyurethane) depending on various artificial degradation conditions such as high temperature, ultraviolet and these complex conditions (high temperature and ultraviolet). As a result, polypropylene, polystyrene and polyethylene show the most visible change especially polypropylene, polystyrene. Polypropylene didn't show a great change degree of tensile strength and contact angle, on the other hand polystyrene did. Polypropylene and polystyrene weakened by photo degradation, polyvinyl chloride and polyurethane had relatively good light stability. Also the high temperature and complex conditions were most degradation characteristic. High temperature worked for degradation catalyst because its energy can not enough worked for cut off binding energy of plastics while ultraviolet condition effected as directly degradation condition. Though following results, we expect it can be applied to investigation of degradation factor depending on plastic artwork materials and basic result of plastic artworks conservation.
