Properties Evaluation of Bio-Composite by Content and Particle Size of Bamboo Flour (대나무 분말의 함량 및 입자 크기에 따른 바이오복합재의 물성 평가)

  • The representative eco-friendly materials, or bio-composites, were made by incorporating biodegradable polymer of polybutylene succinate (PBS) as the matrix and bamboo flour (BF) as the natural filler. In present study, the effects of content and particle size of natural filler on the bio-composites were carried out around their mechanical, visco-elastic, and thermal properties. By the incorporation of BF, the tensile properties decreased but the viscoelastic and thermal properties revealed positive effect through interaction between the polymer and natural filler. Also, the vulnerability of interfacial adhesion between hydrophobic PBS and hydrophilic BF appeared to adversely affect the properties of bio-composites.

Effects of Wood Flour Size on the Physical Properties of Polypropylene/Wood Flour Composites (목분의 크기가 폴리프로필렌/목분 복합재료의 물성에 미치는 영향)

  • Polymer/wood flour composites are recently attracting a lot of interest because they are economic and ecofriendly. In this study, the effects of wood flour size on the thermal and mechanical properties of a polypropylene/wood flour composite were investigated. Mechanical properties of the composite samples prepared by melt-mixing and compression molding were tested by UTM and an izod impact tester, and thermal properties of them were measured by TGA, DMA, DSC and TMA. The best coupling agent was selected by testing three kinds of maleic anhydride modified polypropylene coupling agents, and under the same condition, the effects of wood flour size on the physical properties of the composite were investigated. According to the test results for four different wood flour sizes of 600, 250, 180 and $150{\mu}m$, flexural strength, flexural modulus, crystallinity and water-resistivity of the composite increased with decreasing wood flour size.

  • The mechanical, electrical, and thermal properties of polyamide-modified poly (vinyl chloride) (PVC)-sol was investigated. PVC-sol was plasticized with dioctyl phthalate (DOP). In this work, the effects of the addition of polyamide on the properties of PVC-sol seal-ants were investigated. Two kinds of polyamide resins having different amine value were used. It was found that the properties of the PVC-sol sealants were significantly affected by the contents and types of the added polyamide rosins. The PVC-sol sealants modified with polyamide A (low amino value) showed higher tensile properties than those modified with polyamide B(high amino value) did, and thermal stability of the sealants showed nearly the same trends. The tensile strength of sealants were decreased with increasing the $CaCO_3$ contents. The dielectric constant were not strongly dependent on the polyamide types and contents.

  • Polypropylene (PP)/functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotube (F-MWNT) nanocomposites were prepared by using solution intercalation method with different F-MWNT loads. The PP composite films, which contain dodecanol-MWNT (DDO-MWNT) or dodecylamine-MWNT (DDA-MWNT) as reinforcing additive, were evaluated by thermomechanical properties, morphology, electrical conductivity and gas permeability. The images from electron microscopy (SEM and TEM) showed that F-MWNTs were homogeneously dispersed in PP matrix, while they were agglomerated in some other part. The addition of F-MWNT could improve thermomechanical properties of the films. The maximum enhancement was observed at 2 wt% F-MWNT. DDO-MWNT was more effective than DDA-MWNT for both tensile modulus and optical transparency of the films.

  • Other countries(USA, Europe) have performed the fire resistance design of buildings by the alternative performance design methods, which are based on fire engineering theories. However, in Korea, the process on the alternative fire resistance performance design has only suggested without any applications for real steel structures. Therefore, In the case of steel structures stagnant research on refractory measures face difficulties in introducing fire resistance design. In this study, first of all, Intumescent paint was analyze the thermal properties(thermal conductivity, specific heat and density). In Sequence, using the section factor by H-standard section propose of section concrete filled steel tube and hollow. finally presents a reasonable thickness Intumescent paint takes time to target performance of the proposed cross-section steel tube.

  • $Bi_2Te_3$는 전기적, 열적 특성 등이 아주 흥미로운 소재로, 열전소자 응용 및 위상절연체(Topologycal insulator: TI)로써의 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있는 소재이다. 한편, 전기적, 광학적, 기계적, 열적 특성들이 매우 뛰어나 신소재로 각광받고 있는 그래핀은 나노소재의 합성 분야에서도 기판으로 활용되어, 최근에는 그래핀을 기판으로 한 고품질 나노소재의 합성에 관한 연구보고가 증가하고 있다. 이에, 본 연구에서는 그래핀을 $SiO_2$에 전사한 기판 및 $SiO_2$ 기판 위에 $Bi_2Te_3$ 나노 구조를 합성하고 다양한 분석을 하였다. 라만 스펙트럼 및 XRD를 통해 $Bi_2Te_3$ 임을 확인하였고, 비정질 $SiO_2$기판과 결정질 그래핀/$SiO_2$기판 그리고 구리호일과 그래핀/구리 호일 위에서 합성된 $Bi_2Te_3$ 나노구조를 SEM 및 TEM을 이용하여 비교 분석 하였다. 또한 기초적인 전기물성을 평가하였다.

Polypropylene-Natural Fiber Composites: Rheological Properties during Mixing and Thermal Properties (폴리프로필렌-천연섬유 복합재료의 혼합시 유변학적 물성 및 열적 특성)

  • Polypropylene-natural fiber composites have been prepared and their rheological properties during mixing and thermal properties were investigated. Two types of natural fibers (cotton fiber and wood fiber) were compared. On increasing fiber contents, the torque values of composites were increased, where the cotton fiber exhibited higher increase in torques. The torque values of composites were higher as the MI of PP decreased. X-ray diffraction and differential scanning calorimetry results showed an increase in the crystallization temperature but a decrease of crystallinity of the PP/natural fiber composites on increasing fiber contents.

  • To improve the thermal and mechanical properties of homo poly(L-lactic acid), DL-mandelic acid, one of the natural $\alpha$-hydroxy acid with aromatic ring as the side-chain residue was used as the comonomer. Copolymers with different contents of mandelic acid were prepared and characterized. The resulting copolymers were mostly amorphous. As the amount of mandelic acid in the monomer feed increased, the molecular weight of the resulting polymers tended to decrease linearly. T$_{g}$ and T$_{d}$ of the copolymer, however, were found to shift toward higher temperature, suggesting the improved thermal stability by increasing content of mandelic acid moiety. Tensile measurements of cast films showed somewhat improved values in the copolymers with mandelic acid content of 5 and 10 wt%.%.%.

  • The fundamental study of additional silicone impression material has been performed by comparing the other import products. In order to estimate the possibility of usage of the impression material developed in this study, the several techniques such as IR, EDX, DSC, TGA, rubber rheometer, and contact angle measurement were used. According to the results, there were not any product satisfying all properties required in the impression material. The impression material developed in this study showed best mechanical properties among the all impression materials. However. the wetting property should be studied more by an introduction of a hydrophilic surfactant or modification of a base polymer.

  • Glass-ceramics were prepared and evaluated for the properties to expand the scope of application of the rare earth aluminosilicate glasses, A glass-ceramic added with $TiO_2$as a nucleating agent, which was crystallized internally and it was characterized for physical, thermal and mechanical properties of crystal and residual glass in the glass-ceramic, X-ray diffractometer reveals an unknown crystal as $Nd_{4.6}Si_{7.6}Al_{4.0}Ti_{2.4}O_{32}$ which was found in surface and internal crystals dependent on composition and heat treatments. The thermal expansion coefficients of glass-ceramics were $5.4~6.2{\times}10^{-6}/^{\circ}C$, which increased with increasing crystal growth. Considering that the hardness and the elastic constant of crystal in glass-ceramics are 12GPa and 220GPa, respectively, the application of the glass-ceramics would be applicable for structural materials at elevated temperature.
