유체연마 공정에 따른 표면 변화 고찰

  • 4세대 방사광가속기를 2014년 말 건설 완공 목표로 언듈레이터 시제품 제작하여 테스트 진행과정에 있다. 좁은 틈의 언듈레이터를 지나가는 펄스전자의 진행이 잘되려면 낮은 임피던스가 요구되는데, 전자의 진행을 방해하는 주요 요인으로 진공 표면 거칠기와 산화층 두께에 영향을 많이 받는다. 이러한 영향을 줄이기 위하여 연질의 알루미늄 6063-T6를 재료로 압출공정에 혼합가스를 주입하여 표면 산화를 최소화하였다. 본 실험은 6 m 압출형 진공용기에 압출공정만 거친 것과 유체연마 메디아 종류별, 크기별, 처리시간에 따른 표면개선 효과와 산화층 변화를 알아보았다. 그리고 최종 유체연마 메디아제거 과정에 경면 연마된 표면에 2차 스크레치가 발생하는 원인을 진단하고 이를 방지하기 위한 알코올 주입형 정압시스템을 개발한 것을소개한다.

  • TiN 코팅은 마모에 대한 저항성 및 고체 윤활 효과가 매우 우수하여 내마모성 및 저마찰이 요구되는 절삭공구나 피스톤 베어링 및 각종 축계의 코팅막으로 사용이 증가되고 있다. 일반적으로 재료의 경도와 인성은 서로 상반 관계를 갖고 있어 공학적으로 경도와 인성을 모두 요구하는 표면을 얻기 위해 연질 모재 위의 세라믹 코팅은 그 요구를 만족시킬 수 있는 가장 각광받는 표면처리 방법중의 하나이다. 그러나, TiN과 같은 경질 박막의 공학적 적용시 가장 요구되는 마모수명은 모재의 조도나 경도, 증착 방법, 접촉 상태, 코팅막의 두께 및 마모의 발생 기구 등에 따라 마찰 및 마모 메커니즘의 현저한 차이를 나타내기 때문에 예측이 거의 불가능한 실정이고, 아직까지 이러한 마모수명 비교 평가방법에 대한 기준 설정 및 정량적 정립이 이루어지지 않고 있다. 본 연구에서는 모재의 경도, 조도, 코팅 두께가 다른 TiN 경질 박막에 압입시험과 스크래치시험시 발생되는 균열 발생 메커니즘과 미끄럼 시험시 발생되는 마모 메커니즘의 연계성을 밝히고 압입 및 스크래치 시험시 코팅막이 손상되는 임계하중과 미끄럼 시험시 접촉하중 변화에 따른 마모수명의 정량적 연관성을 찾아보고자 한다.

STS304 절삭시 Chip Breaker를 이용한 Chip제어에 관한 연구

  • 최근 들어 공작기계 자동화의 보편화로 절삭가공작업은 고속화, 정밀화되고 있어 생산성을 높이고 있다. 하지만 이러한 생산성의 증가는 단위시간당 chip생산량을 증가시켰으며, 이에 따라 효율적이면서 바람직한 chip처리가 생산성 향상과 연관되어 매우 중요한 문제로 대두되었다. 본 연구에서는 부착장애형 chip breaker를 설치한 insert 공구를 이용, 피삭재로서 내식성, 내마모성을 기계적 성질이 우수하여 근래 산업의 여러 분야에서 각광받고 있는 난삭재 STS304를 절삭하였다. 난삭재 STS304연질금속으로서, 자유표면이 다소 매끄러운 일반재료와 달리 chip의 단면이 어느 정도 규칙적인 톱니형 chip을 발생한다. 그러므로 부착장애형 chip breaker의 각 및 거리, 기타 각 조건을 이용하여 STS304를 절삭특성 및 chip 조절상태를 관찰하고, 기존의 실험에서 자주 이용되었던 연강과 STS304의 비교절삭을 행하여 chip형태등을 비교하여 보는 것도 난삭재의 절삭가공기술 진전에 일조하리라 생각한다.

  • PCL, MDI, BD 및 DMPA를 이용, 폴리우레탄(PU)을 ionomer 및 nonionomergudxo 로 제조하였으며 이때 연질성분의 함량(SSC) 및 길이가 PU의 기계적, 동적기계적 특성은 물론 형상기억특성에 미치는 영향을 연구하였다. Ionomer는 nonionomer에 비하여 경도, 탄 성율 및 강도가 모두 우수하였으며 그 효과는 실온에서 경질성분의 함량(HSC)이 높은 PU 일수록 보다 뚜렷하였는데 이는 HSC가 증가할수록 ion 중심의 농도가 증가하며 ion 중심간 의 Coulob 력이 고온보다 실온에서 보다 큰데 기인하는 것으로 해석하였다. 반복인장하중실 험에서 ionomer는 nonionomer에 비해 회복변형이 크고 잔류변형이 작았는데 이는 ionomer 의 고무탄성율이 보다 큰 데 기인한 것으로 해석하였다. 나아가 재료의 형상기억거동은 기 본적으로 탄성율의 온도의존성에 크게 의존함을 알수있었다.

  • Novel phosphrous flame retardant tetramethylene bis(orthophosphorylurea) (TBPU) was synthesized by the reaction of diphosphoric acid with 1,4-butanediol and urea, and charaterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). As the amount of TBPU added in polyurethane foam (PUF) was increased, the flame retardancy of PUF was increased and the mechanical properties were not decreased. Also, in the flame resistance test after the reduced pressure storage, the flame retardancy of TBPU added PUF was retained. We could find out that the thermal resistance of TBPU added PUF increased compared to that of pure PUF.

Material Characteristics and Clay Source Interpretation of Joseon (the 15th to 17th Century) Potteries from Ssangyongdong Yongam Site in Cheonan, Korea (천안 쌍용동 용암유적 출토 조선시대 토기의 재료과학적 특성과 원료의 산지해석)

  • This study was to identify the material characteristics and provenance of the Joseon (the 15th to 17th century) potteries from Ssangyongdong Yongam site in Cheonan. The pottery samples of the kilns and the workshops (habitation) from the study area have grey or red color with similar matrix but various shapes and different hardness, according to firing temperature. All of the pottery and the workshop soils were very similar patterns with characteristics of occurrences, mineralogy and geochemical evolution trend. But soils from around the site does not correspond with them. So the workshop soil that the fine clay is raw clay for making pottery in Yongam site. Firing temperature of soft-type potteries were presumed to be formed around $900^{\circ}C$ based on phase transition of clay minerals and mica. Hard-type pottery, mullite was detected and plagioclase was not detected by X-ray diffraction analysis, which means that potteries had experienced firing between 1,000 to $1,100^{\circ}C$.

The Removal Study of Restoration Materials for the Ceramics (토기의 복원재료로 사용되는 합성수지 제거 연구)

  • This study examines the removal effects of solvents which were applied on three adhesives and three filling materials for ceramics. The chosen materials are Cemedine C, Loctite$^{(R)}$ 401$^{TM}$, Araldite Rapid Type, plaster of paris, CDKI 520A+B, Araldit$^{(R)}$ SV427-2+HV427-1. For the first examination, each different materials were soaked into different solvents, and then the soften level were compared by compressive pressure. The result of the first exam showed that Cemedine C was dissolved easily in acetone. Furthermore Araldite, CDK and SV427 were soften efficiently by Dichloromethan, Tetrahydrofuran and DMX(Dichloromethan+Methanol+Xylene). However, Loctite and plaster were not able to make sample for the first test. Therefore, the second test carried on only. The second examination, chosen effective solvents from the first test were applied with two different methods; soaking and saturated atmosphere. Almost every sample could removed by soaking method in ten minutes, and saturated atmosphere method needs 24 hours for the safety.

  • In this study, the relationship between mechanical properties and the effects of second phase in tri-phase steel which was composed of ferrite-martensite-bainite was investigated. In order to obtain different microstructure of ferrite+martensite(DP), ferrite+bainite(F+B), and ferrite+martensite+bainite(TP, different heat treatment has been accomplished. The effects of volume fraction and microstructure of each specimen were studied on tensile property, Charpy impact energy and stretch-flangeability. As the bainite content in triphase steels increased, the tensile strength, and yield strength decreased as well as the reduction of area and strength-uniform elongation increased. However, ferrite-bainite steel had high yield ratio and yield point elongation. The Charpy impact energy of TP and F+B steel was higher than that of DP steel. In addition, the characteristics of hole expanding limit($\lambda$) of TP steel and F+B steel were higher than that of DP steel. These mechanical properties of tri-phase steel have been improved, because bainite could be deformed easily within ferrite matrix. The effect of bainite on ductility in tri-phase steel has been found to be favorable. In this experiment, tri-phase steel contained within 27% bainite volume fraction had good nechanical properties and superior stretch-flangeability.

A study on the cutting character of soft materials(Cu alloy and Al alloy) with change of tool rake angles (공구 경사각의 변화에 따른 연질 재료(Cu alloy and Al alloy)의 절삭 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The optimum cutting condition for rake angle in turning was investigated in (6-4) Brass and Al alloy. Results of experiments in (6-4) Brass and Al alloy are as follow. Specific cutting resistance becames higher as the depth of cutting, feed or cutting velocity decreases at same rake angle and resistance appear low value 20.deg., 25.deg.(6-4)brass, 0.deg. 20.deg.(Al alloy). The optimum cutting condition for(6-4) Brass is depth of cutting 0.5mm, rake angle 25.deg., cutting velocity 80m/min, feed 0.1mm/rev and for Al alloy is depth of cutting 0.1mm, rake angle 0.deg., cutting velocity 200m/min, feed 0.5mm/rev. The rake angle for good roughness is 20.deg. at (6-4) Brass, and that for Al alloy is 15.deg. The roughness is influenced by feed and it has the lowest value at 0.1mm/rev and the cutting condition is influenced by rake angle only.

Effect of Nanoclay on Mechanical Properties of Porous Flexible Polyurethane/Clay Nanocomposites (나노점토가 연질 폴리우레탄/점토 다공성 나노복합체의 기계적 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • Flexible polyurethane/clay porous nanocomposite foams were synthesized using natural and organically modified montmorillonite clays such as bentonite, closite 10A and closite 30B. The content of nanoclays was varied from 1 to 5 wt% of polyol. Dispersion of clay in Polyurethane(PU) matrix was investigated by X-ray diffraction(Cu-$K{\alpha}$ rays of wavelength $1.54{\AA}$) using an X-ray diffractometer. Also, we determined that the thermal resistance of PU foam increased with added clay, compared to that of pure PU foam. The cell size and the fraction of open cells of the precursor foam were controlled by the addition of clay to the polyurethane foam. Modified clays were found to be more efficient cell openers than the unmodified clay. In addition, the tensile strength and elongation of the polyurethane/clay porous nanocomposites were examined. Increasing clay content increased the mechanical properties of the composites, such as tensile strength, and elongation at break. However, increasing the content over 5 wt% deteriorated the properties of the composites. We found that the nanofillers(bentonite, closite 10A and closite 30B) improved the thermal stability of the nanocomposite foam. The nanocomposite foam containing 3 wt% of closite 30B exhibited the best tensile strength and thermal stability.
