Cell Activity of ELID-Machined Titanium Surface (ELID 경면 연삭 가공된 티타늄 표면의 세포 활성도)

  • We investigated the cell activity of controlled titanium surface using various grinding methods including ELID (Electrolytic In-Process Dressing) grinding method. The influence of titanium surface condition by each grinding process on the cell activity was evaluated by ALP activity of MSC(Mesenchymal Stem Cells). The ALP activity of controlled surface by ELID grinding process using # 2000 wheel was higher than that of other titanium surface. The morphological, chemical properties of machined surface by grinding method was observed using various analytical method.

  • Recently, with the development of semiconductor technology the miniaturization of products as well as parts and the products with high precision are being required. In addition as a national competitive power is increasingly effected by micro part development through micro machining and the secure of micro machining technology, the study of micro machining technology is being conducted in many countries. The goal of this study is to fabricate micro tool under the size of 30$\mu\textrm{m}$ and machine micro holes through micro tool fabrication by grinding, the application of ELID to grinding wheel and the measurement of surface roughness for micro tool.

  • 최근 미래지향적 고부가가치의 첨단 산업 전반에 걸친 세계 각국의 연구 개발 노력이 더 한층 가속되 어지면서 특히 항공, 우주, 신운송기기, 정보 통신기기, 메카높틱스, 전자산업, 메카트로닉스 등에 있어 보다 더 가혹한 조건과 분위기 하에서도 우수한 특성과 다양한 기능성 등을 유지할 수 있는 신소재로의 소재 대체화 요구가 높아지게 되어졌다. 국내 역시 최근 다양한 종류의 세라믹스를 생산 하고있긴 하나 이와 같은 기계적 특성치를 구하기 위한 시험편의가공 및 제작을 최적화 수행하지 못하는 관계로 인하여 동일한 소재를 갖고도 충분히 신뢰도있는 데이터들이나 높은 값의 데이터들을 제시하지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 굽힘 강도측정용 세라믹스 시험편을 최적 가공함으로써 기계적 특성치를 최대로발휘하 고자 한 바, 기 발표한 연삭 가공 조건 변화에 따른 최적화 가공 연구에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 것으로 보여지는 연삭 공구에 대한 "In-process dressign"을 최초로 도입하여 일반 연삭 가공을 실행해 봄으로써 그 효과를 명확히 규명하고자 하였으며, 이를 토대로 실제 부품화에 있어서나 Creep-feed grinding에 있어서도 적용할 수 있는 가에 대해서도 알아보고자 하였다.알아보고자 하였다.

  • In this study, the grinding characteristics of CBN wheels, such as grinding force and surface roughness, have been compared and analyzed from various working conditions of spindle speed and depth of cut. To actualize high efficient grinding at ceramic and silicon nitride material, electrolytic in-process dressing (ELID) method has been applied at metal bonded diamond and CBN wheels. Super precision grinding using ductile mode at difficult-ta-cut materials could be performed.

  • Recently with the development of semiconductor technology, the miniaturization of parts and products as well as their high precision is required. In addition, as the national competitiveness is increasingly affected by the development of the micro parts through micro machining technology, the study of the micro machining technology is being conducted in many countries. The goal of this study is to fabricate micro tools under the size of $20{\mu}m$ and to machine micro holes using them. The fabrication is done by grinding and the application of ELID to the grinding wheel. The surface roughness of the micro tools is measured to evaluate the study.

  • A Sintered carbide roller mold for reflectors which is used for cover of automobile lamp and beacon plate of highway has been developed. The geometry of sintered carbide roller mold has been determined from the analysis of reflector geometry. An acute angle diamond wheel and dressing system also has been designed and developed to manufacture the sintered carbide roller mold.

  • Application of ceramic has increased due to excellent mechanical properties, and machining of ceramic has demanded gradually a precision surface machining. For decreasing the surface roughness, the control of IED lapping parameters is very important. This paper deal with the analysis of the process parameters such as applied forces, percentage of h-BN and IED lapping time, developed based on Taguchi method. Also, SEM was used for monitoring of a machinable ceramic surface.

A Study on the ELID Grinding Characteristics of SF-5 Glass and Quartz Glass for the Nano Surface Roughness (나노 표면거칠기틀 위한 SF-5유리와 수정유리의 ELID 연삭 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The precision fabrication of glass is increasingly demanded for the latest industrial applications of spherical lenses, micro-optical components, and so on. In many cases, the surface roughness of glass is required to be minute for improving the optical characteristics. In this paper, machining characteristics of SF-5 glass and quarts glass are studied by using the ELID grinding process to get mirror surface and productivity compared with a general lapping process. A rotary type grinder with air spindle was used for the experiments. Mitutoyo surface tester and AFM were also used to measure the grinded surface of glass. As the results of experiments, they showed that the surface roughness (Ra) of SF-5 glass was under 7.8 nm and that of quartz glass was under 3.0 m using the # 8000 grinder. So, the possibility of highly efficient and accurate surface for optical components can be achieved by the ELID grinding process.

  • A precise fabrication technology of glass is increasingly demanded fer the latest Industrial applications of spherical lenses. micro-optical components, laser applications and so on. Most of cases, the surface roughness of glass is required to be minute for improving the optical characteristics. Then. the machining characteristics of SF-5 glass and quarts glass were studied by using the ELID grinding process to get mirror surface and productivity compared with a general lapping process. A rotary type grinder with ELID generator was used to make the mirror surface of glass and a Mitutoyo surface tester and a nano-hardness tester were also used to measure the grinded surface or glass. As the results of experiments. they showed that the surface roughness(Ra) of SF-5 glass was under 7.8 nm and that of quartz glass was under 3.0 nm using the # 8000 grinder. So, the possibility of highly efficient and accurate surface for optical components can be achieved by the ELID grinding process.

  • This study has been focused on application of ELID mirror-surface grinding technology for manufacturing single crystal optic sapphire. Single crystal sapphire is a superior material with optic properties of high performance as light transmission, thermal conductivity, hardness and so on. Mirror-surface machining technology is necessary to use sapphire as optic parts. The ELID grinding system has been set up for machining of the sapphire material. According to the ELID experimental results, it shows that the surface of sapphire can be eliminated by metal bonded wheel with micron abrasives and the surface roughness of 60nmRa can be gotten using grinding wheel of 2,000 mesh in 4.5um, depth of cut. In this study, the chemical experiments after ELID grinding also has been conducted to check chemical reaction between workpiece and grinding wheel on ELID grinding process. It shows that the chemical reaction has not happened as the results of the chemical experiments.
