램제트 엔진의 지상시험용 Vitiated Air Heater를 이용한 Dump형 연소기의 연소성능에 관한 실험적 연구

  • 액체렘제트 엔진에서는 고온·고속의 공기가 공기흡입구로 유입되기 때문에 고성능 램제트 연소기의 설계를 위하여 실제 비행조건을 모사할 수 있는 고온 고속의 공기 발샐장치가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 수소연소에 의해 Vitiated Air를 발생시키도록 설계된 Vitiated Air Heater(VAH)를 제작하였으며, VAH의 성능평가를 통하여 80∼120m/s 와 400∼800K 범위에서 손쉽게 속도와 온도의 조절이 가능하고 균일한 속도 및 온도분포로 대기공기와 같은 Vitiated Air를 얻을 수 있었다. 그리고 VAH을 연결하여 Dump형 연소기의 특성을 실험하였다. 액체 램제트 엔진에 있어서 공기흡입구가 하나인 Dump형 연소기에 주요변수로서 흡입공기의 온도와 공연비를 변화시키면서 연소기내의 화염형상을 관찰하고, 온도분포를 계측하였으며 Injection 위치에 따른 화염현상을 관찰하였다. 각 경우의 연소효율을 계산하여 실험범위에서의 최적 연소조건을 제시하였다.

A Study on the Flow Entrainment Characteristics of a Coaxial Nozzle Used in a MILD Combustor with the Change of Nozzle Position and Flow Condition (MILD 연소로에서 노즐의 위치와 유동 조건에 따른 유입량 특성에 관한 연구)

  • A MILD (Moderate and Intense Low oxygen Dilution) combustor decreases NOx formation effectively during the combustion process and NOx formation is affected significantly by the exhaust gas entrainment rate toward fuel and air. The present study focused on the new MILD combustor, which has coaxial cylindrical tube. The outside tube of the new MILD combustor corresponds to the exhaust gas passage and the inner side tube is the furnace passage. The connection pipe is set between the outer side and the inner side tubes and coaxial air nozzle is inserted at the center of the connection pipe. A numerical analysis is accomplished to elucidate the characteristics of exhaust gas entrainment toward the inner furnace with the changes of air nozzle exit velocity, nozzle diameter, nozzle exit position and exhaust gas side pressure. The entrainment rate is proportional to the square root of air nozzle exit velocity and negatively proportional to the pressure difference between the exhaust gas side and furnace side pressures. The effect of air nozzle exit position is not considerable on the exhaust gas entrainment.

  • 램제트 엔진은 초음속에서 공기가 충격파를 통해 아음속으로 속도가 낮아지고 압력이 증가하는 램 압축 현상을 이용하되 압축기를 사용하지 않고 아음속 상태에서 연소하는 구조로 되어 있다. 따라서 각 부품의 성능은 독립적이지 않으며 전체적인 성능을 규명하기 위해서는 공기 흡입구와 연소실, 연료 분사체계 등의 상호작용을 고려하여 유동의 특성과 그에 따른 연소현상의 특성을 함께 고려해야만 한다. 본 연구에서는 속도 범위 Mach 5이내, 고도 30km이내의 운항조건을 갖는 유도 무기에 장착될 램제트 엔진 개발을 위한 연구의 첫 번째 단계로써, 램제트 연소실내의 유동장해석을 실험과 수치해석 두 분야로 나누어 수행하였다.

  • The aerothermodynamic characteristics of SCRamjet engine for the airbreathing populsion system of the next generation flight vehicle are described. As the flow is passing by, combustion caused the total pressure loss and the Mach number decrease, but nozzle exit velocity is large enough to produce net thrust. To simulate supersonic combustion test, preliminary design of ground-based blowdown type supersonic combustion tunnel is attained. Minimum allowable operating pressure and mass flow rate are calculated for the design Mach number of 2.5 at the test section of a supersonic combustion tunnel.

  • 본 연구에서는 이러한 관점으로부터, 개방식 연촉매치를 상정하여, 백금의 모노리스형 촉매를 이용한 메타놀예%%합형 촉매연소기의 정상운전의 실용성에 관한 실험 및 수치계산을 행하였다. 먼저 촉매연소기의 온도분포 및 배기가스 온도분포를 파악하고, 촉매연소기의 실용성을 평가하기 위하여 실내환경예측을 행하였다. 또한 실험만으로는 연소기의 여러가지 운전조건에 관한 전테이타를 얻는 것은 어렵다. 이 때문에 본 연구에서는, 이전의 연구에서 이용한 계산과 같이 메타놀이 완전연소하는 는 것으로 보고 중간산하물의 생성을 무시한 1차원 수치계산모델로 연소특성, 배기가 스의 배출특성등의 예측을 하였으며, 명종 운전 파라메타의 설정한계 등에 대하여 검토를 행하였다.

A Study on Physicochemical Characteristics of Hydrogen Gas Explosion (수소가스 폭발의 물리화학적 특성 연구)

  • Hydrogen is considered to be the most important future energy carrier in many applications reducing significantly greenhouse gas emissions, but the explosion safety issues associated with hydrogen applications need to be investigated and fully understood to be applicable as the carrier. The risk associated with a explosion depends on an understanding of the impacts of the explosion, particularly the pressure-time history during the explosion. This work provides the effects of explosion parameters, such as specific heat ratio of burned and unburned gas, equilibrium maximum explosion pressure, and burning velocity, on the pressure-time history with flame growth model. The pressure-time history is dominantly depending on the burning velocity and equilibrium maximum explosion pressure of hydrogen-air mixture. The pressure rise rate increase with the burning velocity and equilibrium maximum explosion pressure. The specific heat ratio of unburned gas has more effect on the final explosion pressure increase rate than initial explosion pressure increase rate. However, the specific heat ratio of burned gas has more influence on initial explosion pressure increase rate. The flame speeds are obtained by fitting the experimental data sets. The flame speeds for hydrogen in air based on our experimental data is very low, making a transition from deflagration to detonation in a confined space unlikely under these conditions.

  • This study presents relations between the time lag and interaction index of the impinging-jet injectors using the time lag model in a model chamber. The response of the flame is analyzed to artificial perturbation with 5% amplitude of oxidizer speed at a resonance frequency. At the mixing point of fuel and oxidizer, which determines the characteristic length, the relationship between velocity perturbation and heat release rate is quantified by combustion parameters of interaction index and time lag. In this method, time lag or delay is calculated by the characteristic length and the average velocity obtained from numerical results. The tendency that the time delay decreases with axial jet velocity has been observed.

A numerical study of the air fuel ratio effect on the combustion characteristics in a MILD combustor (공연비 변화가 MILD 연소 특성에 미치는 영향에 관한 해석적 연구)

  • A numerical analysis of reactive flow in a MILD(Moderate and Intense Low oxygen Dilution) combustor is accomplished to elucidate the characteristics of combustion phenomena in the furnace with the variation of air fuel ratio. For the smaller magnitude of air injection velocity(10 m/s), the air flow could not penetrate toward upper part of furnace. On the other hand, the air flow suppresses the fuel flow for the case of air injection velocity 30 m/s. The air velocity 18 m/s is corresponding to the stoichiometric air flow velocity, and for that case, the air flows to relatively more upper part of the furnace when compared with the case of air injection velocity 10 m/s. The reaction zone is produced with the previous flow pattern, so that the reaction zone of the air injection velocity 10 m/s is biased to the air nozzle side and for the case of air injection velocity 30 m/s, the reaction zone is inclined to the fuel nozzle side. For the cases with the air injection velocities 16, 18, 20 m/s, the reaction zone is nearly located at the center between air nozzle and fuel nozzle. The maximum temperatures and NOx concentrations for the cases of air injection velocity 16, 18, 20 m/s are lower than the cases with air injection velocity 10, 30 m/s. From the present study, the stoichiometric air fuel ratio is considered as the most optimal operating condition for the NOx reduction.

Combustion Characteristics of Pool and Whirl Fire on Methanol by Height of Fire Source using the Small Scale (화점높이 변화에 따른 메탄올의 소규모 Pool 및 Whirl Fire의 연소특성)

  • This study is intended to understand flame behavior of pool and whirl fire by height of fire source. Liquid fuel was methanol which is used in many studies for pool and whirl fire. Size of vessel was $100{\times}100{\times}50$ and the vessel was made by stainless steel. Combustion time, mass loss rate, flame temperature, flame height and air entrainment rate from the outside to flame were measured, and flame behavior was visualized with video camera. Based on the experiment, it was found that combustion characteristics by height of fire source got a more effect on whirl fire than pool fire.

  • Hybrid rocket combustion experiments using liquefying diaphragm made by blended liquefying fuel with 10 wt% of LDPE were performed. Results of experiments were compared to the those of pure paraffin. In case of using liquefying diaphragm, regression rate of rear fuel grain, characteristic velocity and specific impulse highly increased due to the induced turbulent intensity and heat transfer. The serious combustion instability was not observed in analysis of combustion instability. These results can imply that the liquefying diaphragm is efficient to improve low combustion efficiency in hybrid rocket using liquefying fuel.
