A Study of Droplet Combustion Characteristics with Mulicomponent Fuel (다조성 연료 액적의 연소특성에 관한 연구)

  • 본 연구에서는 고온 분위기 온도 및 대기압 하에서 액적의 급속가열과 연소가 가능한 고온 연소로 장치와 고속도 비디오 카메라를 이용하여 다조성 단일 액적 연소에 대해 고찰하였다. 그 결과 저비점 성분을 혼합한 경유의 액적은 기본적으로 입경의 2승 법칙에 의해서 감소되었으며, 그 과정에서 입경이 일시적으로 급속히 감소하는 현상이 보여짐과 더불어 연소기간도 단축되었다. 즉, 저비점 성분을 혼합한 경유의 액적은 미세폭발 현상에 의해 기존 디젤 연료에 비해 더 빨리 증발되고 연소가 되었다. 또한, 순수 파라핀계 및 함산소계 연료의 화염은 전체 연소기간동안 기존 경유의 화염에 비해 푸른색을 띠고 있어, 매연이 없는 연소를 입증해 주었다.

  • This is the second paper on the combustion characteristics of landfill gas in a constant volume combustion chamber for a large displacement volume commercial engine, and it discusses the combustion process on the basis of pressure measurements. The results show that the bimodal peak pressure phenomenon, which is caused by the interaction of the heat release and the heat transfer, is more apparent as the mixtures are more favorable to combustion, and the magnitudes of the pressures depend on the unburned fraction. In addition, there exist four main inflection points during heat release owing to variations in the heat transfer area related to flame propagation from the ignition point. Furthermore, the number of inflection points increases as the mixture quality worsens because of the extended burn duration. Consequently, the sophisticated interactions between the heat transfer area changing pattern due to flame propagation and transfer duration might cause very peculiar heat release patterns.

  • 내연기관의 성능은 실린더에서 연료의 화학에너지가 열에너지로 얼마만큼 빠르고 완전하게 변화하느냐에 좌우된다. 이를 위해서는 실린더 내에서 뜨거운 압축공기와 연료의 혼합 및 증기화가 요구된다. 엔진의 출력은 매 사이클당 흡입.압축할 수 있는 공기량에 좌우되므로 연소의 해석을 위해서는 실린더 내의 공기유동, 연료의 분무 및 연소과정을 이해 해야한다. 배기와 엔진효율의 요구성때문에 희박 혼합기 또는 EGR (exhaust gas recirculation)이 필요하게 된다. 그러나 희석이 크면 낮은 연소온도, 낮은 층류흐름속도와 화염전면의 낮은 난류강도 때문에 연소기간이 증대하게 된다. 실제로 희박의 증가는 실화 또는 긴 연소 지연기간, 사이클 마다의 연소맥동현상, HC배기의 증가등을 초래하게 된다. 이러한 저온연소의 단점들은 연소상태를 안정시키고 연소량을 증대시키는 공기의 유동을 이용해서 해결 될 수 있다. 최근에는 선회류와 난류의 강도를 증가시켜서 빠른연소(fast burning)를 이루고 있다. 선회류와 난류의 강도를 증대시키는 가장 중요한 2가지 방법은 흡입포트(port), 매니홀드(manifold)설계이다.

  • On the hypothesis that the unstable intermediates yield by the pre-reaction of auxiliary fuel become an initiator or an explosive center which promotes the chain reaction of main fuel, various organic compounds below $C_{10}$ are injected as an auxiliary fuel prior to main injection. In the previous papers, the effects of the auxiliary fuel additions on the ignition delay period, the stability of flame, the NO concentrations in their exhaust gases have been investigated. In the present paper, to confirm where the most suitable location of lean pre-mixture for the combustion of main fuel is, and how the lean pre-mixture is contacted with main fuel, the effects of the injection timing of auxiliary fuel and the turbulence on combustion processes are investigated. Moreover, from the schlieren and color photographs of flame in the combution field, it could be found that the ignition nuclei are formed in a wider region of main spray, and that these ignition nuclei promote the development of flame, which results in the reduction of flaming duration.

로듐 자기 기전력형 중성자 계측기의 수명 연장에 관한 연구

  • 로듐 자기 기전력형 중성자 계측기는 단위 중성자당 발생되는 전류 신호가 매우 커 계측성이 우수하나 연소율이 빨라 자주 교체해야 하므로 재장전 기간 연장 및 새로운 로듐계측기 구입 등의 문제점이 있다. 75% 연소에 해당하는 제5핵 연료 주기 기간 동안 영광 3, 4호기와 같은 C-E 원자로에 사용되고 있는 로듐 자기 기전력형 중성자 계측기의 연소 거동이 C-E에 의해서 연구되었다. 약 제3핵연료주기까지 분석한C-E의 초창기 연구에서는 중성자 방사화율 개념에 근거하여 약 66%연소시점까지 로듐계측기 연소특성곡선은 선형적임이 밝혀진 바 있다. [l, 2] 그 후 C-E의 연구에 의하면 약 75% 연소에 해당하는 제5핵연료 주기까지도 로듐계측기 연소 특성 곡선은 선형적임이 밝혀졌다. 그 결과로 C-E형 원자력발전소에서 사용되는 로듐 노내계측기의 수명을 약 60%연소에서 66%연소 시점까지 연장시킬 수 있게 되었다. [3]이 정도의 계측기 수명 연장은 약 반년의 원자로 운전 기간에 해당되며 차기 핵연료주기에서 많은 로듐 노내계측기를 계속 사용할 수 있게 한다. 특히 영광 3, 4호기가 12개월 핵연료 주기에서 18개월 핵연료 주기로 재장전 전략을 바꿀 경우 로듐 노내계측기의 수명 이 연장되지 않으면 계측기 교체가 빈번해 질 것으로 사료되어 로듐 수명 연장과 관련된 기술 특히 C-E 및 B&W의 로듐 노내계측기 연소도 특성곡선 불확실도 평가 및 출력 측정 계통 오차 분석 기술을 소개하고자 한다. 영광3, 4호기에서 사용중인 로듐 노내계측기 수명을 현재 연소도 기준 66%내로 한정하고 있는데 C-E 및 B&W의 로듐 노내계측기연소 특성에 관한 연구 내용을 분석한 결과 노내계측기 수명을 연소도가 66%를 초과하는 계측기가 있어도 전체적으로 불확실도가 안전한계를 넘지 않으면 노내상주가 가능한 것으로 평가되었다.

Cooling Time Determination of Spent Nuclear Fuel by Detection of Activity Ratio $^{l44}Ce /^{l37}Cs$ (방사능비 $^{l44}Ce /^{l37}Cs$ 검출에 의한 사용후핵연료 냉각기간 결정)

  • Activity ratio of two radioactive primary fission products which had sufficiently different half-lives was expressed as functions of cooling time and irradiation histories in which average burnup, irradiation time, cycle interval time and the dominant fissile material of the spent fuel were included. The gamma-ray spectra of 36 samples from 6 spent PWR fuel assemblies irradiated in Kori unit-1 reactor were obtained by a spectrometric system equipped with a high purity germanium gamma-ray detector. Activity ratio $^{l44}$Ce $^{l37}$Cs, analyzed from each spectrum, was used for the calculation of cooling time. The results show that the radioactive fission products $^{l44}$Ce and $^{l37}$Cs are considered as useful monitors for cooling time determination because the estimated cooling time by detection of activity ratio $^{l44}$Ce $^{l37}$Cs agreed well with the operator declared cooling time within relative difference of $\pm$5 % despite the low counting rate of the gamma-ray of $^{l44}$Ce (about 10$^{-3}$ count per second). For the samples with several different irradiation histories, the determined cooling time by modeled irradiation history showed good agreement with that by known irradiation history within time difference of $\pm$0.5 year. From this result, it would be expected to be possible to estimate reliably the cooling time of spent nuclear fuel without the exact information about irradiation history. The feasibility study on identification of and/or sorting out spent nuclear fuel by applying the technique for cooling time determination was also performed and the result shows that the detection of activity ratio $^{l44}$Ce $^{l37}$Cs by gamma-ray spectrometry would be usefully applicable to certify spent nuclear fuel for the purpose of safeguards and management in a facility in which the samples dismantled or cut from spent fuel assemblies are treated, such as the post irradiation examination facility.mination facility.

  • This paper dealt itself with the relation of the heat release rate with crank angle in combustion process by adjusting the injection time, injection amount and engine speed of diesel engine. The result of test were obtained by analyzing indicator diagram of KUBOTA 2LKE diesel engine, where the indicator was used Tertronix oscilloscope. The combustion period of diesel engine is composed of premixed burning time and combustion controlled time. The larger the premixed burning region, the higher efficiency was obtained with the higher maximum pressure than at the time of the normal smooth operation. The longer the combustion controlled time, the lower the maximum pressure than the period of the normal operation, but the efficiency was decreased. The region of premixed burning was principally controlled by injection delay, but combustion controlled time was affected when oxygen and fuel were mixed. Efficiency of engine was increased at the time of earlier injection time under the constant injection amount, and engine speed, but the pressure increasing was observed higher than the efficiency increasing.

  • This is the third paper on the combustion characteristics of the landfill gas in a constant volume combustion chamber for a large displacement volume commercial engine. It is the first in this series to discuss the effects of the torch device on combustion. The results show that an optimum orifice ratio exists regardless of the torch volume, and a few adverse effects on the combustion are observed for an excessively small orifice ratio. In addition, the torch ignition decreases the initial burn duration, and the decrease in the heat transfer caused by this decreased duration contributes to an increase in the peak combustion pressure. Finally, the torch mostly plays a positive role in shortening the main burn duration when the combustion condition is worsened by a lower methane fraction. Yet, the torch decreases the initial burn duration rather than the main burn as the methane fraction increases.

  • To achieve hydrogen power system with high performance and stable operation, the COVimep of hydrogen fueled engine with direct injection was evaluated with the change of engine speed, injection timing, air-fuel equivalence ratio and spark timing. And the cause of cycle variation was analyzed by using coefficient of variation in combustion period defined in this study. the results showed that the cycle variation of hydrogen fueled engine is mainly dependent on the early combustion period.
