SURFACE ROUGHNESS OF COMPOSITE RESIN ACCORDING TO FINISHING METHODS (복합레진 표면의 연마방법에 따른 표면조도)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the difference of surface roughness of composite resin according to composite resin type, polishing methods, and use of resin sealant. Two hundred rectangular specimens, sized $8{\times}3{\times}2mm$, were made of Micro-new (Bisco, Inc., Schaumburg, IL, U.S.A) and Filtek Supreme (3M ESPE Dental Products, St. Paul, MN, U.S.A.), and divided into two groups; Micronew-M group, Filtek Supreme-S group. Specimens for each composite group were subdivided into five groups by finishing and polishing instruments used; M1 & S1(polyester strip), M2 & S2 (Sof-Lex disc), M3 & S3 (Enhance disc and polishing paste), M4 & S4(Astropol) and M5 & S5 (finishing bur), Polished groups were added letter B after the application of resin surface sealant (Biscover), eg, M1B and S1B. After specimens were stored with distilled water for 24hr, average surface roughness (Ra) was taken using a surface roughness tester. Representative specimens of each group were examined by FE-SEM (S-4700: Hitachi High Technologies Co., Tokyo, Japan). The data were analysed using paired t-test, ANOVA and Duncan's tests at the 0.05 probability level. The results of this study were as follows ; 1. The lowest Ra was achieved in all groups using polyester strip and the highest Ra was achieved in M5, S5 and M5B groups using finishing bur. On FE-SEM, M1 and S1 groups provided the smoothest surfaces, M5 and S5 groups were presented the roughest surfaces and voids by debonding of filler on the polished specimens. 2. There was no significant difference in Ra between Micronew and Filtek Supreme before the application of resin sealant, but Micronew was smoother than Filek Supreme after the application of resin sealant. 3. There was significant corelation between Ra of type of composite resin and polishing methods before the application of resin sealant (p=0.000), but no significant interaction between them after the application of resin sealant. On FE-SEM, most of composite resin surfaces were smooth after the application of resin sealant on the polished specimens. 4. Compared with before and after the application of resin sealant in group treated in the same composite and polishing methods, Ra of M4B and M5B was statistically lower than that of M4 and M5, and S5B was lower than that of S5, respectively (p<0.05). In conclusion, surface roughness by polishing instruments was different according to type of composite resin. Overall, polyester strip produced the smoothest surface, but finishing bur produced the roughest surface. Application of resin sealant provided the smooth surfaces in specimens polished with Enhance, Astropol and finishing bur, but not provided them in specimens polished with Sof-Lex disc.

  • Long Fiber Prepreg Sheet (LFPS) has the advantages of excellent production efficiency and formability for complex shapes compared to conventional continuous fiber reinforced composites. When fibrous composites are used with different materials, joining method is important because strength of the joining part determines the strength of the hybrid structure. In this study, the adhesive joint strengths of co-cured LFPS and aluminum were evaluated under various surface treatment conditions and environmental conditions (temperature and moisture conditions). Mechanical abrasion and plasma exposure were used for the surface treatment. The adhesive joints experienced various surface treatments were tested by using single lap joint specimens. Adhesive strengths under various conditions were compared and the most appropriate condition was determined.

Polishing of Oxide film by colloidal silica coated with nano ceria (나노 세리아 입자가 표면 코팅된 콜로이달 실리카 슬러리의 Oxide film 연마특성)

  • 100, 200nm 크기의 colloidal silica 각각에 나노 ceria 입자를 수열합성법으로 코팅하였다. Colloidal silica 입자에 ceria를 코팅 시 slurry의 pH조절과 수열처리에 이용하여 silica에 ceria가 코팅됨을 TEM과 zeta-potential을 이용하여 확인하였다. 연마 슬러리의 분산 안정성과 연마효율을 높이기 위하여 슬러리의 pH 는 9로 하였으며, 이때의 zeta-potential 값은 -25 mV이었다. 1 wt%로 제조된 연마슬러리를 이용하여, 4 inch $SiO_2$, $Si_3N_4$ wafer를 압력변화에 따른 연마특성을 관찰 하였다. Ceria coated colloidal silica 100 nm, 200 nm와 commercial한 $CeO_2$입자를 연마압력 6 psi로 oxide film을 연마한 결과 연마율이 각각 2490 ${\AA}/min$, 4200 ${\AA}/min$, 4300 ${\AA}/min$으로 측정되었다. 또한 $SiO_2$, $Si_3N_4$ film의 6 psi압력에서 ceria coated colloidal silica 100 nm, 200 nm와 commercial 한 $CeO_2$입자의 선택비는 3, 3.8, 6.7 이었다. 입자크기가 클수록 연마율이 높으며, Preston equation을 따라 연마 압력과 연마율이 비례하였다.

Achievement of a $10^{-11}$ Torr Ultrahigh Vacuum System ($10^{-11}$Torr의 초고진공 실현)

  • 초고진공 시스템을 구성할 때 고려할 요소는 진공용기의 세척과 표면조도, 진공용 기의 재질, 기타 방출기체의 요인이다. 초고진공용기를 전해연마 처리하였으며, 처리한 진공 용기의 표면조도를 표면 조도기(surface profiler)로 측정하였다. 진공용기는 직경 300mm이 고 높이는 720mm로 하였다. 설치한 초냉각 펌프로 18시간 배기후 2.9 $\times$ 10-10Torr를 얻었 으며, 계속해서 초고진공용기를 250에서 60시간 baking 후 최저도달 압력이 3.08 $\times$ 10-11torr에 도달하였다 누드 이온게이지를 이용하여 초고진공용기의 최저도달압력과 누출비 를 측정하였다.

SURFACE ROUGHNESS OF EXPERIMENTAL COMPOSITE RESINS USING CONFOCAL LASER SCANNING MICROSCOPE (공초점 레이저 주사 현미경을 이용한 실험적 레진의 표면 조도에 대한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of a new resin monomer, filler size and polishing technique on the surface roughness of composite resin restorations using confocal laser scanning microscopy. By adding new methoxylated Bis-GMA (Bis-M-GMA, 2,2-bis[4-(2-methoxy-3-methacryloyloxy propoxy) phenyl] propane) having low viscosity, the content of TEGDMA might be decreased. Three experimental composite resins were made: EX1 (Bis-M-GMA/TEGDMA = 95/5 wt%, 40 nm nanofillers); EX2 (Bis-M-GMA/TEGDMA = 95/5 wt%, 20 nm nanofillers); EX3 (Bis-GMA/TEGDMA = 70/30 wt%, 40 nm nanofillers). Filtek Z250 was used as a reference. Nine specimens (6 mm in diameter and 2 mm in thickness) for each experimental composite resin and Filtek Z250 were fabricated in a teflon mold and assigned to three groups. In Mylar strip group, specimens were left undisturbed. In Sof-lex group, specimens were ground with #1000 SiC paper and polished with Sof-lex discs. In DiaPolisher group, specimens were ground with #1000 SiC paper and polished with DiaPolisher polishing points. The Ra (Average roughness), Rq (Root mean square roughness), Rv (Valley roughness), Rp (Peak roughness), Rc (2D roughness) and Sc (3D roughness) values were determined using confocal laser scanning microscopy. The data were statistically analyzed by Two-way ANOVA and Tukey multiple comparisons test (p = 0.05). The type of composite resin and polishing technique significantly affected the surface roughness of the composite resin restorations (p < 0.001). EX3 showed the smoothest surface compared to the other composite resins (p < 0.05). Mylar strip resulted in smoother surface than other polishing techniques (p < 0.05). Bis-M-GMA. a new resin monomer having low viscosity, might reduce the amount of diluent, but showed adverse effect on the surface roughness of composite resin restorations.

  • 최근 자동차 산업을 중심으로 한 수송용 기기의 경량화 추세에 따라 대표적인 경량금속 소재인 알루미늄 합금에 대한 수요가 증가하고 있으며 이에 따라 알루미늄 합금 표면에 다양한 특성을 부여할 수 있는 표면개질 기술에 대한 필요성이 부각되고 있다. 알루미늄 합금의 대표적인 표면처리기술인 아노다이징과 유사한 원리로 표면에 세라믹 코팅층을 형성할 수 있는 기술인 플라즈마 전해 산화(Plasma electrolytic oxidation, PEO)가 주목을 받고 있다. PEO 코팅법은 전해액 내에 소재를 침지시키고 400 ~ 600V에 이르는 고전압을 인가시켜 마이크로 방전을 유도하여 표면에 치밀한 세라믹 층을 형성시키는 기술이다. 본 연구에서는 PEO법으로 표면 개질된 Al 합금 표면의 표면 조직 특성과 전기화학 특성을 평가하고, 코팅층 특성에 미치는 공정 변수의 영향을 분석하고자 하였다. PEO 처리를 위해 사용된 소재는 상용 Al 합금 판재(Al 5083-O)로서 $2cm{\times}2cm$로 절단하여, 에머리페이퍼로 1000번까지 연마하여 사용하였다. 시험을 위한 PEO 처리 시스템은 전해액 수조, 일정 온도 유지를 위한 열교환기와 칠러, 전원 발생을 위한 전원공급기(power supply)로 구성되었다. 전해액은 약 알칼리 수용액을 이용하였으며, 전원 공급기를 통해 시험편에 펄스 전류를 인가하였다. PEO 처리 후 시편에 대하여 SEM, EDS, XRD 등을 이용한 표면 특성 평가를 실시하였다. 또한 코팅층의 전기화학적 부식 특성 평가를 위해 해수용액에서 동전위분극실험을 실시하였다. 시험 결과, Al 합금의 PEO 처리 시 내식성은 개선되는 것으로 확인되었으며, 공정변수는 표면의 미세조직 및 전기화학적 특성에 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

  • 수소 분리막은 수소 분리층과 지지체로 구분되며, 수소 분리막의 수소 투과 및 선택도는 지지체의 표면조도, 평탄도 및 거대기공 크기에 크게 의존한다. 본 연구에서는 표면연마 및 $ZrO_2$ 파우더 매립을 사용한 표면처리 공정을 통해 다 공성 스테인레스 강 지지체의 표면조도 및 평탄도와 거대기공을 제어함으로써 균일하고 치밀한 분리층을 형성 할 수 있었으며, 상용화 공정($350^{\circ}C{\sim}500^{\circ}C$, 1bar(${\Delta}P$))에서 무한대의 수소 선택도와 $17.5ml/min{\cdot}cm^2{\cdot}atm$의 수소 투과도를 얻을 수 있었다.

Effect of Blast Cleaning on Fatigue Behavior of Non-load-carrying Fillet Welded Cruciform Joints (블라스트 표면처리가 하중비전달형 십자필렛 용접이음의 피로거동에 미치는 영향)

  • Blast cleaning has been applied in steel bridges for cleaning forged surface and increasing adhesive property of applied coating systems. Blasting is the operation of cleaning or preparing a surface by forcible propelling a stream of abrasive metals against it. Blast cleaning may improve surface geometry and induce compressive residual stress, and eventually may increase fatigue life of weld joints. In this paper, fatigue tests were carried out on three types of non-load-carrying fillet welded cruciform joints, as-welded joints, blast-treated joints, and stress-relieved joints after blasting, in order to investigate effect of blast cleaning on fatigue behavior of the weld joints. By Blast cleaning, the weld toe radius was increased by 29% and compressive residual stress was induced near weld toes. Blast cleaning increased fatigue life and fatigue endurance limit of the weld joints. When the applied stress ranges decreased, the increment in fatigue life became larger. About a 150% increase in fatigue limit could be realized by using blast cleaning.

Effect of Electropolishing on Surface Quality of Stamped Leadframe (Stamped Leadframe의 표면 품질에 미치는 전해연마 효과)

  • The effect of electropolishing far stamped leadframe on the removal of the edge burr and residual stress relief was examined. The present study showed that the electropolishing could be used for enhanced surface quality of stamped leadframes. The electropolishing was performed at the condition of 60% phosphoric acid electrolyte, 5 ampere of current and 3 cm electrode gap at $70^{\circ}C$ for 2 minutes for Alloy42 type leadframe, and $50^{\circ}C$ for 1.5 minutes for C-194 type leadframe. The FWHM values from X-ray diffraction showed that residual stress of electropolished leadframe recovered to the level of as-received raw materials and surface roughness measured by using AFM tuned out to be improved by 0.079 $\mu\textrm{m}$ and 0.014 $\mu\textrm{m}$ ($R_{rms}$) far alloy 42 and C-194 type leadframes, respectively. The plated thickness using XRF showed the improved uniformity in thickness variation by 0.4~0.5 $\mu\textrm{m}$ and grain growth, which is favorable for interface adhesion, was also observed from the bake test samples. We could certify dimensional stability of leadframe with inspection by means of 3D-topography and hardness measurements.

Effects of Wet Chemical Treatment and Thermal Cycle Conditions on the Interfacial Adhesion Energy of Cu/SiNx thin Film Interfaces (습식표면처리 및 열 사이클에 따른 Cu/SiNx 계면접착에너지 평가 및 분석)

  • Effects of wet chemical treatment and thermal cycle conditions on the quantitative interfacial adhesion energy of $Cu/SiN_x$ thin film interfaces were evaluated by 4-point bending test method. The test samples were cleaned by chemical treatment after Cu chemical-mechanical polishing (CMP). The thermal cycle test between Cu and $SiN_x$ capping layer was experimented at the temperature, -45 to $175^{\circ}C$ for 250 cycles. The measured interfacial adhesion energy increased from 10.57 to $14.87J/m^2$ after surface chemical treatment. After 250 thermal cycles, the interfacial adhesion energy decreased to $5.64J/m^2$ and $7.34J/m^2$ for without chemical treatment and with chemical treatment, respectively. The delaminated interfaces were confirmed as $Cu/SiN_x$ interface by using the scanning electron microscope and energy dispersive spectroscopy. From X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis results, the relative Cu oxide amounts between $SiN_x$ and Cu decreased by chemical treatment and increased after thermal cycle. The thermal stress due to the mismatch of thermal expansion coefficient during thermal cycle seemed to weaken the $Cu/SiN_x$ interface adhesion, which led to increased CuO amounts at Cu film surface.
