Optimum Design of Dual Orifice Fuel Nozzle (이중 오리피스 연료 노즐 최적설계)

  • Fuel spray nozzle has a critical effect on combustion characteristics. Mass flow rate and SMD(sauter mean diameter) were selected as design variables by using the experiment data of various types of duplex fuel nozzles for the swirl atomizers. The sensitivity of each design variable on the mass flow rate and SMD was analyzed and the uniformity of mass flow rate was investigated through the shape optimization of duel-orifice-type swirl atomizers. The design variables that have a little effect on the optimum design were excluded using the DOE(design of experiments) method, which enabled the optimization of sensitive design variables on mass flow rate and limit tolerance. The SMD of the research spray nozzle that was used in this study was found to be most similar to that of the calculation results using the Jasuja's SMD relationship. This study showed the specific characteristics of duel orifice type swirl atomizers and the optimization of these kinds of nozzle. This study provided the optimization design of mass flow rate and its allowable tolerance.

An Experimental Study on the Spray Characteristics of a Rotating Fuel Nozzle of a Slinger Combustor for Different Flow Rates and Rotating Speeds (슬링거 연소기 회전연료노즐의 유량과 회전수에 따른 분무특성에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • An experimental study was conducted to observe the spray characteristics for different flow rates and rotating speeds of a rotating fuel nozzle of a slinger combustor. The water spray ejected from the nozzle orifice was visualized using a high-speed camera and a light source. It was confirmed that the atomization was improved, as the flow rate decreased and rotating speed increased. The characteristic maps for the spray characteristics and performance parameters showed that the aerodynamic Weber number and the liquid-air momentum flux ratio were associated with the liquid primary breakup, and the liquid-air momentum flux ratio and Rossby number were closely correlated with the liquid ejection mode.

Combustion Characteristics and On-site Performance Test of a Double-cone Partial Premixed Nozzle with Various Fuel hole Patterns (이중 콘형 부분예혼합 GT 연료노즐의 연소특성 및 발전플랜트 실증)

  • Combustion characteristics were examined experimentally for a swirl-stabilized double cone premixed burner nozzle used for industrial gas turbines for power generation. An original model and a variant with a different fuel injection pattern are tested to compare their combustion characteristics such as NOx, CO and stability in pressurized conditions with single burner-flame and in an ambient multi-flame conditions with multi-burners. Test results show that NOx emissions are smaller for the variant, whose number of fuel holes is reduced with the same total area of fuel holes, in ambient and pressurized single-flame conditions with single burner, which results from enhanced fuel/air mixing due to a higher penetration of fuel into the air stream. The multi-burnerflame test results show that NOx emissions are smaller for the variant due to reduced flame interactions, which, on the contrary, slightly reduces the stability margin. On-site test results fromin an actual power plants also show that NOx emissions are reduced for the variant, compared with the original one, which is in agreement with the lab test results stated above.

Study on Simulation of Fuel Injection Nozzle for Marine Medium Speed Diesel Engine (선박용 중속디젤엔진 연료분사노즐 해석 연구)

  • This study was carried out to improve the design of fuel injection nozzle for marine medium speed diesel engine. For this purpose, fuel injection nozzle was modeled and simulated using CATIA V5R19 and FLUENT & MSC Nastran. Analyses of flow and heat transfer, respectively, were performed to find the optimal design of fuel injection nozzle. As the results, big pressure drop, which may lead to cavitation damage, was occurred at inlet of fuel injection hole with diameter 0.3mm. Furthermore, it was confirmed that the increase of mean temperature of fuel injection nozzle was almost a half in comparison with that of fuel injection nozzle tip.

  • 일반적인 소형 고체로켓의 모터 내에는 연료 첨가제로써 알루미늄이 함유되는데, 연소 시 산화된 이 성분은 액적 상태로 이동하여 노즐부내에 이상유동장을 형성시킨다. 이러한 산화알루미늄입자는 노즐벽면에 충돌, 점착하여 기계적, 열적 에너지전달을 일으키며 노즐벽면의 삭마를 유발시키는 한편, 가스유동과의 속도 차, 온도차로 인해 저항요소로 작용하면서 노즐의 추력 성능 손실에 간접, 직접적인 원인이 된다.(중략)

  • The thermo-structural analysis of the solid-fuel propulsion Nozzle is studied to estimate the thermo-structural safety of the metal nozzle. The thermal load is determined to be significantly large, Because the metal nozzle in a short combustion time is directly exposed to high pressure and temperature of combustion gas. Through a analysis result, the influence of a thermal load is estimated and henceforward a design data of thruster is used.

  • 선박으로부터 배기오염에 대한 국내의 관련 규제들이 강화되면서 관련 기술 개발이 급격하게 이뤄지고 있다. 그 중 탱커선의 화물탱크로부터 배출되는 유중기를 대기중으로 방출하지 않고 회수할 수 있는 설비 관련기술이 개발되고 있다. 회수설비 중 포함되는 스크러버는 가스 속의 부유 고액 미립자를 액을 이용하여 포집하는 장치로서, 스프레이 노즐을 통해 액을 분사하며, 일반적으로 물을 사용한다. 고효율 스크러버 설계기술 개발을 위해 스크러버용 노즐의 성능해석과 유동가시화 실험을 통한 내부유동 특성을 연구하였다.

Examination of 2-Fluid Nozzle and 3-Fluid Nozzle for Fuel Reformer of 5 kW SOFC System (5 kW급 SOFC 시스템의 연료 개질기를 위한 2-유체 노즐과 3-유체 노즐의 검토)

  • In the present study, the 2-fluid nozzle and 3-fluid nozzle to atomize the diesel and water with air for the fuel reformer of SOFC system were experimentally examined. In the 2-fluid nozzle, the diesel and water were alternately atomized due to bislug flow pattern, and it implies that the mixing of both liquids strongly affects the atomization pattern. On the other hand, in the 3-fluid nozzle, the diesel and water were atomized simultaneously due to the separated injection channels without mixing problem. Therefore, compared to the 2-fluid nozzle, the 3-fluid nozzle is suitable for the stable operation of the fuel reformer. In case of the 3-fluid nozzle, Type A where the air was supplied through the central channel was the most efficient.

  • 본 연구에서는 가연성 폐기물을 이용한 시설원예 난방에너지 공급시스템 개발을 위하여 대형 온실 난방이나 RPC 시설에 이용할 수 있는 왕겨와 중유 겸용연소 시스템에서 중유의 연소 및 성능 특성을 분석하고자 하였다. 중요 인자로는 분사노즐의 크기(2.0, 2.25, 2.5, 3.0 GPH)와 진공압력(375, 500, 625, 750 Pa)을 설정하였으며 이에 대한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1.진공압력 500Pa조건에서 연료 공급율이 증가할수록 연소실 벽체 열교환기 효율은 감소하고 폐열회수 열교환기와 사이클론 열교환기의 효율이 증가하였으며, 노즐 2.5GPH에서 진공압력이 커질수록 연소실 하부의 온도가 감소하였고 연소실 상부에서는 비슷한 경향을 보였다. 2, 연소온도특성, 열효율, 배기가스 성분분석 등의 결과로 볼 때 최적의 연소 조건은 노즐 2.5GPH는 진공압력 375Pa, 노즐3.0GPH는 진공압력 500Pa과 625Pa 사이로 판단되었다. 3. 배연가스내의 대기오염 성분은 모든 실험처리에서 CO 함량은 거의 없고 SO$_2$와 NO$_{x}$의 함량 또한 일반 보일러 허용기준을 만족하는 것으로 나타났다.

Combustion Characteristics of the Slinger Combustor (슬링거 연소기의 연소특성)

  • The study was performed to understand combustion characteristics of the slinger combustor. Liquid fuel is discharged radially outwards through injection holes drilled in the high speed rotating shaft. The spray test was peformed to verify atomizing characteristics with variation of fuel nozzle rotational speed by using PDPA system. SMD was measured at different RPM and values are 70$\mu\textrm{m}$ at 5,000RPM rpm, 60$\mu\textrm{m}$ at 10,000RPM and 40$\mu\textrm{m}$ at 20,000RPM. In the results, we found out that SMD is grown smaller with increasing rotational speed. In KARI combustion test facility, Ignition and combustion tests were performed by using combustor test rig. In the test results, ignition and combustion efficiency were improved according to increasing rotational speed. The measured radial temperature distribution at the combustor exit shows stable and fairly good distribution.
