  • In this paper, we propose a new procedure for improvement of the linear predictive coding. To reduce the error power incurred by the coding, we interchanged the order of the two procedures of windowing on the signal and linear prediction. This scheme corresponds to LPC extraction with windowed autocorrelation. The proposed method requires more calculational time because it necessitates matrix inversion on more parameters than the conventional technique where an efficient Levinson-Durbin recursive procedure is applicable with smaller parameters. Experimental test over various speech phonemes showed, however, that our procedure yields about 5 % less power distortion compared to the conventional technique. Consequently, the proposed method in this paper is thought to be preferable to the conventional technique as far as the fidelity is concerned. In a separate study of speaker-dependent speech recognition test for 50 isolated words pronounced by 40 people, our approach yielded better performance too.

  • As the price of traditional fuels soar, the alternatives are becoming more viable. And manufacturers are promoting the growing viability of electric and biofuel-powered vehicles through longer warranties. Now, these longer green environment (emission)warranties, sometimes called extended warranties or "super warranties," have been adapted. The main result of this paper is to present a new method to approximate a bivariate warranty function by using Radial Basis Function Network with application of Radon Transform and its inverse which is used to reduce the dimension of the warranty space. This method consist of the following stages: First, by using the Radon Transform, the bivariate warranty function can be reduced to one dimensional function. Second, each of the one dimensional functions is approximated by using neural network technique into neural sub-networks. Third, these neural sub-networks are combined together to form the final approximation neural network. Four, by using the inverse of radon transform to this final approximation neural network we get the approximation to the given function. Also, we apply the above method to some green warranty data of automotive vehicle company.

  • A monopulse based on maximum likelihood(ML) in jamming scenario can suppress jamming signal using an inverse matrix of a covariance matrix. In order to achieve adequate suppression of jamming signal, the sufficient number of snapshots is required. However, this is not possible in high PRF scenario, which hinders a real-time tracking. Moreover, even with the large number of snapshots, the estimation accuracy of the target direction is decreased in low JNR(Jammer to Noise Ratio) due to insufficient jammer suppression. In this paper, we propose a monopulse algorithm that doesn't degrade performance significantly with a small number of snapshots and in low JNR. We show its derivation that exploits noise-jammer subspace of a covariance matrix, along with its performance through simulation.

  • In this paper we generate Gold-sequence by using M-sequence which is made by two primitive polynomial of GF(2). Generally M-sequence is generated by linear feedback shift register code generator. Here we show that this matrix of appropriate permutation has Hadamard matrix property. This matrix proves that Gold-sequence through two M-sequence and additive matrix of one column has one of major properties of Hadamard matrix, orthogonal. and this matrix show another property that multiplication with one matrix and transpose matrix of this matrix have the result of unit matrix. Also M-sequence which is made by linear feedback shift register gets Hadamard matrix property mentioned above by adding matrices of one column and one row. And high-speed conversion is possible through L-matrix and the S-matrix.

  • In this paper, a new matrix decoding system using vector based Virtual Source Location Information (VSLI) is proposed as an alternative to the conventional Dolby Pro logic II/IIx system for reconstructing multi-channel output signals from matrix encoded two channel signals, Lt/Rt. This new matrix decoding system is composed of passive decoding part and active part. The passive part makes crude multi-channel signals using linear combination of the two encoded signals(Lt/Rt) and the active part enhances each channel regarding to the virtual source which is emergent in each inter channel. Since the virtual sources are related to the perceptual sound images in virtual sound field, the reconstructed multi-channel sound results in good dynamic perception and stable image localization. Moreover, the good channel separation is maintained with nonlinear trigonometric enhancing function.

  • In this paper, a fast diagonal-weighted Jacket matrices (DWJMs) is proposed to have the orthogonal architecture. We develop the successive DWJM to reduce the computational load while factorizing the large-order DWJMs into the low-order sparse matrices with the fast algorithms. The proposed DWJM is then applied to the precoding multiple-input and multiple output (MIMO) wireless communications because of its diagonal-weighted framework with element-wise inverse characteristics. Based on the properties of the DWJM, the DWJM can be used as alternative open loop cyclic delay diversity (CDD) precoding, which has recently become part of the cellular communications systems. Performance of the DWJM-based precoding system is verified for orthogonal space-time block code (OSTBC) MIMO LTE systems.

  • The genetic code is a key to bio-informatics and to a science of biological self-organizing on the whole. Modern science faces the necessity of understanding and systematically explaining mysterious features of ensembles of molecular structures of the genetic code. This paper is devoted to symmetrical analysis for genetic systems. Mathematical theories of noise-immunity coding and discrete signal processing are based on Jacket matrix methods of representation and analysis of information. Both of the RNA and Jacket Matrix property also have the Element(Block) - wise Inverse Matrices. These matrix methods, which are connected closely with relations of symmetry, are borrowed for a matrix analysis of ensembles of molecular elements of the genetic code. This method is presented for its simplicity and the clarity with which it decomposes a Jacket Matrix in terms of the genetic RNA Codon.

  • Most structural analyses are concerned with the deformations and stresses in a body subjected to external loads. However, in many fields, inverse problems have to be interpreted to determine surface tractions or internal stresses from displacements measured on a remote surface. In this study, the inverse processes are studied by using the finite element method for the evaluation of internal stresses. Small errors in the measured displacements often result in a substantial loss of stability of an inverse system. In order to improve the stability of the inverse system, the displacements on a section near the region of the unknown tractions are predicted by using orthogonal basis functions. We use the Gram-Schmidt orthogonal technique to determine two bases for the displacements on a section near the region of the unknown tractions. Advantages over previous methods are discussed by using numerical examples.

  • In this paper, we propose a normalization algorithm that can be applied to adaptive filters for multi-channel active noise control. The FxLMS (Filtered-x Least Mean Square) algorithm for the single-channel active noise control can be normalized in the same way as the NLMS (Normalized Least Mean Square) algorithm, whereas in case of the multi-channel active noise control, the single-channel normalization for the FxLMS algorithm cannot be extended to the normalization for the multi-channel FxLMS algorithm straightforwardly. First, we adopt a generalized normalization algorithm for the multi-channel FxLMS algorithm based on the principle of minimal disturbance and then, proposed a normalized algorithm considering only diagonal elements to avoid computation for matrix inversion. We carried out performance comparisons of the proposed algorithm with other algorithms without normalization. It is shown that the proposed algorithm presents better convergence characteristics under non-stationary environments.

  • Multi-Input Multi-Output (MIMO) transmission is now considered as one of essential techniques enabling high rate data transmissions in wireless communication systems. In addition, severe channel impairments in wireless systems should be compensated by using highly efficient forward error correction (FEC) codes. Turbo codes or low density parity check (LDPC) codes, using iterative decoding with soft decision detection information (SDDI), are the most common examples. The excellent performance of these codes should be conditioned on accurate estimation of SDDI from the MIMO detection process. In this paper, we propose a soft MIMO detection scheme using QR decomposition of channel matrices as an efficient means to provide accurate SDDI to the iterative decoder. The proposed method employed a two sequential soft MIMO detection process in order to reduce computational complexity. Compared to the soft ZF method calculating the direct inverse of the channel matrix, the complexity of the proposed method can be further reduced as the number of antennas is increased, without any performance degradation.
