A method analizing contact pressure between plate and elastic half space is presented by using F.E.M. With the method, the pressure intensities at surface nodes of half space cae be directly calculated by using flexibility matrix of half space. The method is originally presented by Y.K. Cheung et al.(3) Insted of Y.K. Cheung's method, which use a conception of equi-contact pressure area around each surface nodes of half space in the noded rectanqular element area. We use the equi-contact pressure area around the Gaussian integration points of half space surface in the noded isoparametric element area. Numarical examples are presented and compared with other's studies.

To improve the performance of high-speed vehicles, various studies have been carried out on the head of vehicles. In this study, tests are conducted on flow characteristics and drag reduction using counterflow air jets in supersonic flow. The flow is visualized by the Schlieren method using a high-speed camera, and the drag is measured using a torque sensor according to the injection pressure conditions. The results of the measurements indicate that the flow changes from unsteady state to steady state for injection pressure ratios between 1.58 and 1.70, and drag reduction is observed as the pressure of the counterflow air jets increases.

Computational results from Navier-Stokes equations are presented for the Stokes-wave/flat-plate boundary-layer and wake for small wave steepness(Ak=0.01), including exact and approximate treatments of the viscous free-surface boundary conditions. The macro-scale flow indicate that the variations of the external-flow pressure gradients cause acceleration or deceleration of the streamwise velocity component and alternating direction of the cross flow. Remarkably, the wake displays a greater response, i.e., a bias with regard to favorable as compared to adverse pressure gradients. The micro-scale flow indicates that the free-surface boundary conditions have a profound influence over the boundary layer and near/intermediate wake. Order-of-magnitude estimates are conformed to the computational results. And appreciable errors are introduced through approximations to the free-surface boundary conditions.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the shift of COP pathway and the plantar foot pressure among level walking and stairs and ramp climbing in young and elderly people. Plantar foot pressure was measured by MatScan system(Tekscan, USA). Statistical analysis was used One-way ANOVA to know the characteristics of peak plantar pressure during walking with different the facilities. In young adults, COP pathway during stairs climbing was slightly shorten and trended to abduct at forefoot. COP pathway during ramp climbing was also shorten but trend to adduct at forefoot. Peak plantar pressure of 2-3 metatarsal head and heel during ramp climbing was more decreased than level walking. In elderly people, COP pathway during stairs climbing was more shorten and abducted than leve walking and COP pathway during ramp climbing was more unstable than level walking. Peak plantar pressure of first metatarsal head increased at stair climbing and decreased at ramp climbing. That of second metatarsal head and heel was more decreased at ramp climbing. Conclusionally, Peak plantar pressures of each foot region generally increased and more changed during ramp climbing.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the changing plantar foot pressure and muscle activation of neck, lumbar and low limb by different way of the using carrier during walking. Twenty healthy and young females who brought up infants and had no musculoskeletal disorders of neck, lumbar and low limb were instructed to perform plantar foot pressure and muscle activation of neck, lumbar and low limb during different ways of the using the carrier and walking. Plantar foot pressures were recorded by RS-scan system(RS scan Ltd, German), muscle activation were recorded by ProComp infinitiTM(Thought Technology Ltd, Canada). The data collected by each way of the using carrier and One-way ANOVA was used to analyze. The results indicated that there was a significant increase on erector spinae muscle activation and pressure of great toe zone by using anterior carrier and there was a increase on activation of paraspinal muscle and metatarsal zone by using posterior carrier. Therefore, the way of using carrier could be influenced upon structure and function of the foot and muscle activation.
The disc plate and frame type modules for reverse osmosis were developed using three different types of baffles: linear (Type 1), curved (Type 2) and parallel shapes (Type 3). Separation performance tests were carried out for the modules using NaCl and sucrose solutions under the various concentrations and operating pressures. The permeation flux and solute rejection ratio for Type 3 module were the highest within operating pressure (35bar) and flow rate (6 l/min). The flux improvement ratio of Type 2 or 3 to Type 1 for NaCl solution decreased as operating pressure increased: flux improvement ratios of Type 3 for 1wt% of NaCl solution were about 100 and 10% at 10 and 35bar, respectively. However, the flux improvement ratio for sucrose solutions varied with the operating pressure and concentration. The permeation flux for Type 3 depended on the flow rate linearly, which is higher than that of turbulent flow region in the smooth channel.

A precedure for recovering surface displacement from a time series of pressure measured by a pressure gage in a shallow water (that is, FFTM, LCM. IWM) is investigated with respect to a proper cut-off-frequency of a frequency response function for the accurate recovery of wave height and period. The authors examined the applicability of above mentioned three transformation procedures through field observations and laboratory experiments and the following results are obtained. i) The cut-off-frequency of the frequency response function used in FFTM is deeply depend on both the frequency response of the pressure sensor and the water depth at the sensor. In this study, a relatively accurate surface displacement can be recovered when the frequency response function is cut off at the frequency corresponding to kh=3.0 where k is a wave number at the depth of h. The frequency response function in the region higher than the cut-off-frequency is set constant to be the value at the cut-off-frequency. ii) The transformed surface displacements by LCM are affected by the small waves of short periods included in the measured pressure. It is found that pressure variation whose local frequency is higher than kh=1.5 has to be neglected to recover surface displacement sufficiently. iii) In IWM, the linear pressure response function is usually utilized by multiplying a coefficient N which is a function of the frequency (or kh) and takes a value around unity. However, in this study, a constant value of N(=1.0) gives a relatively accurate recovery of surface displacements.
