  • In this paper, we present a novel space-frequency adaptive image restoration approach using vaguelette-wavelet decomposition (VWD). The proposed algorithm classifies a degraded image into flat and edge regions by using spatial information of the wavelet coefficient. For reducing the noise we perform an adaptive wavelet shrinkage process. At edge region candidates, we adopt entropy approach for estimating the noise and remove it by using relative between sub-bands. After shrinking wavelet coefficients process, we restore the degraded image using the VWD. The proposed algorithm can reduce the noise without affecting the sharpness details. Based on the experimental results, the proposed algorithm efficiently proved to be able to restore the degraded image while preserving details.

  • This paper presents a procedure to extract lane line models using a set of proposed methods. Firstly, an image warping method based on homography is proposed to transform a target image into an image which is efficient to find lane pixels within a certain region in the image. Secondly, a method to use the combination of the results of edge detection and HSL (Hue, Saturation, and Lightness) transform is proposed to detect lane candidate pixels with reliability. Thirdly, erroneous candidate lane pixels are eliminated using a selection area method. Fourthly, a method to fit lane pixels to quadratic polynomials is proposed. In order to test the validity of the proposed procedure, a set of black-box images captured under varying illumination and noise conditions were used. The experimental results show that the proposed procedure could overcome the problems of color-only and edge-only based methods and extract lane pixels and model the lane line geometry effectively within less than 0.6 seconds per frame under a low-cost computing environment.

  • In this study, the acoustical properties of micro-speaker had been studied as a function of diaphragm patterns. The diaphragm was divided into two sections, such as edge and dome sides. The pattern change at each side affected the tensile strength of diaphragm. As a result, the resonance frequency was varied with the change. With increasing the number of pattern at the edge side, it was increased at the first, but it reversed to the exponential decrease of that. It increased due to the increase of tensile strength to be caused by using "U" type of drill and whirlwind pattern, and decreasing of drill angle at the edge side. However, it was decreased due to the decrease of tensile strength to be by increasing the number of radiation pattern and dome hight, and decreasing the dome radius at the dome side.

  • This paper presents a fast multiple-image-based deblurring method that decreases the computation loads in the image deblurring, enhancing the sharpness of the textures or edges of the restored images. First, two blurred images with some blurring artifacts and one noisy image including severe noises are consecutively captured under a relatively long and short exposures, respectively. To improve the processing speeds, the captured multiple images are downsampled at the ratio of two, and then a way of estimating the point spread function(PSF) based on the image or edge patches extracted from the whole images, is introduced. The method enables to effectively reduce the computation time taken in the PSF prediction. Next, the texture-enhanced image deblurring method of supplementing the ability of the texture representation degraded by the downsampling of the input images, is developed and then applied. Finally, to get the same image size as the original input images, an upsampling method of utilizing the sharp edges of the captured noisy image is applied. By using the proposed method, the processing times taken in the image deblurring, which is the main obstacle of its application to the digital cameras, can be shortened, while recovering the fine details of the textures or edge components.

  • Makeup is the most common way to improve a person's appearance. However, since makeup styles are very diverse, there are many time and cost problems for an individual to apply makeup directly to himself/herself.. Accordingly, the need for makeup automation is increasing. Makeup transfer is being studied for makeup automation. Makeup transfer is a field of applying makeup style to a face image without makeup. Makeup transfer can be divided into a traditional image processing-based method and a deep learning-based method. In particular, in deep learning-based methods, many studies based on Generative Adversarial Networks have been performed. However, both methods have disadvantages in that the resulting image is unnatural, the result of makeup conversion is not clear, and it is smeared or heavily influenced by the makeup style face image. In order to express the clear boundary of makeup and to alleviate the influence of makeup style facial images, this study divides the makeup area and calculates the loss function using HoG (Histogram of Gradient). HoG is a method of extracting image features through the size and directionality of edges present in the image. Through this, we propose a makeup transfer network that performs robust learning on edges.By comparing the image generated through the proposed model with the image generated through BeautyGAN used as the base model, it was confirmed that the performance of the model proposed in this study was superior, and the method of using facial information that can be additionally presented as a future study.

  • In this paper, we propose a new hybrid speed function for image segmentation using level set. A new proposed speed function uses the region and boundary information of image object for the exact result of segmentation. The region information is defined by the probability information of pixel intensity in a ROI(region-of-interest), and the boundary information is defined by the gradient vector flow obtained from the gradient of image. We show the results of experiment for an various artificial image and real medical image to verify the accuracy of segmentation using proposed method.

  • Complementary color filter array (CCFA) is widely used in consumer-level digital video cameras, since it not only has high sensitivity and good signal-to-noise ratio in low-light condition but also is compatible with the interlaced scanning used in broadcast systems. However, the full-color images obtained from CCFA suffer from the color artifacts such as false color and zipper effects. These artifacts can be removed with edge-adaptive demosaicking (ECD) approaches which are generally used in rrimary color filter array (PCFA). Unfortunately, the unique array pattern of CCFA makes it difficult that CCFA adopts ECD approaches. Therefore, to apply ECD approaches suitable for CCFA to demosaicking is one of the major issues to reconstruct the full-color images. In this paper, we propose a new ECD algorithm for CCFA. To estimate an edge direction precisely and enhance the quality of the reconstructed image, a function of spatial variances is used as a weight, and new color conversion matrices are presented for considering various edge directions. Experimental results indicate that the proposed algorithm outperforms the conventional method with respect to both objective and subjective criteria.

  • An image enhancement method using modified anisotropic diffusion filter is proposed in this paper. It employs sensor noise estimation and scale space methods based on the minimum reliable scale. Then the anisotropic diffusion filter is modified by the calculated critical value function and local gradient. Through simulation, it is verified that the proposed algorithm has the capability of little or no noise amplification in homogenous region as well as superior edge enhancement.

  • In general, images of outdoor scenes often contain degradation due to dust, water drop, haze, fog, smoke and so on, as a result they cause the contrast reduction and color fading. Haze removal is not easier problem due to the inherent ambiguity between the haze and the underlying scene. So, we propose a novel method to solve single scene dehazing problem using the region segmentation based on graph algorithm that has used a gradient value as a cost function. We segment the scene into different regions according to depth-related information and then estimate the global atmospheric light. The medium transmission can be directly estimated by the threshold function of graph-based segmentation algorithm. After estimating the medium transmission, we can restore the haze-free scene. We evaluated the degree of the visibility restoration between the proposed method and the existing methods by calculating the gradient of the edge between the restored scene and the original scene. Results on a variety of outdoor haze scene demonstrated the powerful haze removal and enhanced image quality of the proposed method.
