전력시장 소매가격의 규제가 사회후생에 미치는 영향

  • We estimate how much KEPCO can save their loss and how much social welfare can be increased by applying the real-time pricing instead of current regulated retail price in the electricity market in order to analyze the problem of the regulated retail price which is fixed below the marginal cost. We estimate the demand functions of peak time and off-peak time in summer (June to August) and winter (December to February). We construct the supply function based on hourly step-wise linear marginal cost functions, too. We find that the increase of social welfare will be 67 billion won in summer if the fixed retail price is changed into the real-time pricing scheme. The total 705 billion won will be transferred from consumer surplus to producer surplus and the rest (67 billion won) will be saved from the reduction of deadweight loss among KEPCO's loss. In winter, the increase of social surplus will be 225 billion won and 1,174 billion won of KEPCO's loss will be transferred from consumer surplus. As a result, we conclude that the regulation of the retail price in the electricity market induces the social welfare loss and KEPCO suffers a huge loss.

Distribution characteristics of organophosphorous pesticides in Asan Bay, Korea (아산만 해역의 유기인계농약 분포특성)

  • Distribution characteristics of organophosphorous pesticides(OPs) in water and suspended particles were studied in Asan Bay, Korea, from June 2004 to October 2005. 28 organophosphorous pesticides could be detected in Asan Bay during this study. The most commonly and abundantly measured OPs in the surface waters were IBP (max=$6,343.7ng\;l^{-1}$). DDVP, diazionon, ethoprophos and methidathion were also observed at relatively high concentrations. Their maximum concentrations exceeded $100ng\;l^{-1}$ in almost every month. Malathion, mevinphos, ph orate and chlorfenvinphos were also detected at relatively high concentrations. Many OPs more frequently appeared in summer than in winter due to the intensive application of pesticides in summer months. The concentration of OPs generally decreased with increasing distance from the mouth of Asan Bay. This result implies progressive dilution of these pesticides in the marine environment. Measured concentrations of diazinon were well below $20,000ng\;l^{-1}$ which is a limit set by the seawater quality standard of Korea. The concentrations of malathion and parathion in the surface waters of Asan Bay did not exceed the seawater quality standard of Korea($250,000\;and\;60,000ng\;l^{-1}$ respectively). OPs adsorbed on suspended particles were also studied. DDVP, phorate, stirofos, EPN, azinphos-methyl and IBP had higher adsorption capacity onto suspended particles than other pesticides. Calculated pesticide-particle adsorption coefficient($K_d-particle$) for samples collected in Asan Bay were closely related to the reported pesticides-soil adsorption coefficient ($K_d-soil$).

Study on Performance Variation According to the Arrangements of Adjacent Vertical-Axis Turbines for Tidal Current Energy Conversion (인접한 조류발전용 수직축 터빈의 배치방식에 따른 성능 변화)

  • Tidal farm is a multi-arrayed turbine system for utilizing tidal stream energy. For horizontal-axis turbine(HAT) system, it is recommended that each unit has to be deployed far apart in order to avoid hydrodynamic interference among turbines, as proposed by the European Marine Energy Centre(EMEC). But there is no rule for the arrangement of vertical-axis turbine(VAT) yet. Moreover it has been reported that a proper arrangement of adjacent turbines can enhance the overall efficiency even greater than an arrangement without mutual interference effect. This paper suggests the layout of VATs showing the better performances, which turned out to be quite different from HATs' arrangement. Numerical calculations were performed to investigate the performance variation in terms of the rotational direction as well as the distance between turbines. It has been shown that the best combination of rotational direction and distance between turbines can increase its performance higher about 9.2% than that of two independently operated turbines. It is likely that such improvement is due to the increased velocity between adjacent turbines. For diagonally arranged turbines, the maximum normalized mean power coefficient was obtained to be higher about 5.6% than that of two independent turbines. It is expected that the present results can be utilized for conceptual design of tidal farm to harness the tidal stream energy.

On the Statistical Characteristics of Freak Wave Occurrence (Freak Wave 발생의 통계적 특성에 대하여)

  • In this paper time series wave data are simulated by the Monte Calo method using random numbers to generate random phases of the wave signal. The simulated wave signasl are used to study the characteristics of freak waves. Various sea states are represented by combinations of the significant wave height $H_s$ defined in the spectrum method and the significant wave steepness $S_s$. For a fixed value of $S_s$, the probability of the occurrence of the freak wave is decreased as $H_s$ increases. For a fixed value of $H_s$ the probability of the occurrence of the freak wave increases as $S_s$ increases. The average value of the maximum wave height increase as $S_s$ increases, but the average height of freak wave remains the same and the value approaches two times of $H_s$. For the fixed value of $S_s$, average kurtosis of wave elevation increases as $H_s$ increases, but for a fixed $H_s$, the average kurtosis decreases as $S_s$ increases. The average of abnormality index(AI) is around 2.11 irregardless of $H_s$ and $S_s$. The maximum value of AI lies between 2.5 - 3.0. Therefore it is conjectured that AI maximum due to linear focusing is 3.0.

A Study on Technology Priorities for Green Highway (녹색도로 구현을 위한 기술 우선순위 결정에 관한 연구)

  • It is not surprising to hear news about irresistible natural disasters all over the world due to climate change. Korean Government has focused on developing a variety of green technologies to reduce green house gasses, in particular, carbon dioxide. This study suggested 18 technology divisions for achieving green highway technology development in six different sub-sectors considering life-cycle of roadway and surveyed 29 highway and/or transportation professionals of three institutes using AHP(Analytical Hierarchy Process) analysis to construct "Green Highway"and realize carbon emission reductions and energy use efficiency in a road sector in Korea. Expert Choice Software was used to rank 18 technology divisions weighted by two-level choices. Transport Operating Infrastructure Improvement, Roadway Policy Implementation, Green Transportation(such as Pedestrian and Bicycle) were highly ranked by respondents according to results of the AHP modeling. Among the 18 divisions, technology policy for supporting R&D investments from development to commercialization was ranked as the most significant one to be focused. Green Transportation Facility Design/Construction/Operation and Eco-Friendly Roadway Plan were followed as expected since professionals have thought that the planning/design step of the life-cycle is a starting point to reduce carbon dioxide from roads more and more. Additionally, comparing the results with the Government investment trend 2006-2011 for the roads, it can be interpreted that the Government should invest to the R&D area more widely than before to promote element and core technology development for Green Highway Construction. Above all, small and mid-sized businesses have to be invested as well as encouraged to undertake green highwayrelated objects to accomplish the divisions which ranked high.

Facial Feature Retraction for Face and Facial Expression Recognition (얼굴인식 및 표정 인식을 위한 얼굴 및 얼굴요소의 윤곽선 추출)

  • 본 논문은 얼굴 인식 또는 표정 인식 분야에 있어서 중요한 특징을 나타내는 얼굴과 얼굴의 주요소인 눈과 입, 눈썹의 영역 추출 및 그의 윤곽선·추출에 관한 방법을 제시한다. 얼굴요소의 영역 추출은 엣지 정보와 이진화 영상을 병합하여 이용한 프로젝션 분석을 통하여 얼굴 및 각 얼굴요소를 포함하는 최소포함사각형(MER: Minimum Enclosing Rectangle)을 추출하였다. 얼굴 영상에 관련된 윤곽선 연구에는 가변 템플릿(Deformable Template), 스네이크(Snakes: Active Contour Model)를 이용하는 연구들이 이루어지고 있는데 가변 템플릿 방법은 수행시간이 느리고 추출된 윤곽선의 모양이 획일 된 모양을 갖는 특성이 있다. 본 논문에서는 사람마다 얼굴요소의 모양의 개인차가 반영되고 빠른 수렴을 할 수 있는 스네이크 모델을 정의하여 눈, 입, 눈썹, 얼굴의 윤곽선 추출 실험을 하였다. 또한 스네이크는 초기 윤곽선의 설정이 윤곽선의 추출 곁과에 큰 영향을 미치므로, 초기 윤곽선의 설정 과정이 매우 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 얼굴 및 각 얼굴요소를 포함하는 각각의 최소 포함 사각형(MER)을 추출하고, 이 추출된 MER 내에서 얼굴 및 각 얼굴요소의 일반적인 모양을 초기 윤곽선으로 설정하는 방법을 사용하였다. 실험결과 눈, 입, 얼굴의 MER의 추출은 모두 성공하였고, 눈썹이 흐린 사람들의 경우에만 눈썹의 MER추출이 졸지 않았다. 추출된 MER을 기반으로 하여 스네이크 모델을 적용한 결과, 눈, 입, 눈썹, 얼굴의 다양한 모양을 반영한 윤곽선 추출 결과를 보였다. 특히 눈의 경우는 1차 유도 엣지 연산자에 의한 엣지 와 2차 유도 연산자를 이용한 영점 교차점(Zero Crossing)과 병합한 에너지 함수를 설정하여 보다 더 나은 윤곽선 추출 결과를 보였다. 얼굴의 윤곽선의 경우도 엣지 값과 명도 값을 병합한 에너지 함수에 의해 비교적 정확한 결과를 얻을 수 있었다.잘 동작하였다.되는 데이타를 입력한후 마우스로 원하는 작업의 메뉴를 선택하면 된다. 방법을 타액과 혈청내 testosterone 농도 측정에 응용하여 RIA의 결과와 비교하여 본 바 상관관계가 타액에서 r=0.969, 혈청에서 r=0.990으로 두 결과가 잘 일치하였다. 본 실험에서 측정된 한국인 여성의 타액내 testosterone농도는 107.7$\pm$12.0 pmol/l이었고, 남성의 타액내 농도는 274.2$\pm$22.1 pmol/l이었다. 이상의 결과로 보아 본 연구에서 정립된 EIA 방법은 RIA를 대신하여 소규모의 실험실에서도 활용할 수 있을 것으로 사려된다.또한 상실기 이후 배아에서 합성되며, 발생시기에 따라 그 영향이 다르고 팽창과 부화에 관여하는 것으로 사료된다. 더욱이, 조선의 ${\ulcorner}$구성교육${\lrcorner}$이 조선총독부의 관리하에서 실행되었다는 것을, 당시의 사범학교를 중심으로 한 교육조직을 기술한 문헌에 의해 규명시켰다.nd of letter design which represents -natural objects and was popular at the time of Yukjo Dynasty, and there are some documents of that period left both in Japan and Korea. Monte Carlo Simulation of a Varian 21EX Clinac 6 MV Photon Beam Characteristics Using GATE6 (GATE6를 이용한 Varian 21EX Clinac 선형가속기의 6 MV X-선 특성모사)

  • Monte Carlo simulations are widely used as the most accurate technique for dose calculation in radiation therapy. In this paper, the GATE6(Geant4 Application for Tomographic Emission ver.6) code was employed to calculate the dosimetric performance of the photon beams from a linear accelerator(LINAC). The treatment head of a Varian 21EX Clinac was modeled including the major geometric structures within the beam path such as a target, a primary collimator, a flattening filter, a ion chamber, and jaws. The 6 MV photon spectra were characterized in a standard $10{\times}10cm^2$ field at 100 cm source-to-surface distance(SSD) and subsequent dose estimations were made in a water phantom. The measurements of percentage depth dose and dose profiles were performed with 3D water phantom and the simulated data was compared to measured reference data. The simulated results agreed very well with the measured data. It has been found that the GATE6 code is an effective tool for dose optimization in radiotherapy applications.

Potential of HAZ Property Improvement through Control of Grain Boundary Character in a Wrought Ni-based Superalloy (단련용 Ni기 초내열합금의 입계구조 제어를 통한 HAZ 특성 향상 가능성 고찰)

  • 단련용 다결정 Ni기 초내열합금은 우수한 가공성, 내산화성, 고온특성 등으로 가스터빈 연소기, 디스크, 증기발생기 전열관 등 발전용 고온부품 소재에 널리 적용되고 있다. 최근 발전설비의 고효율화를 꾀하기 위해 작동 온도를 현격히 증가시키는 기술방향으로 발전하고 있고, 소재측면에서는 기존의 초내열합금 대비 고기능성을 확보할 수 있는 차세대 Ni기 초내열합금 개발이 유럽, 미국, 일본, 중국 등을 중심으로 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 이러한 소재의 고온강도 (온도수용성)를 향상시키기 위해서는 통상 규칙격자 금속간화합물인 $Ni_3(Al,Ti)-{\gamma}'$상의 분율을 증가시킬 수 있지만, ${\gamma}'$상분율이 증가할 경우 용접 및 후열처리 동안 용접열영향부 (HAZ)에서 액화균열이 발생할 가능성이 높아진다. 결정립계를 따라 발생하는 HAZ 액화균열은 입계특성에 의해 크게 영향을 받을 것으로 판단된다. 한편, 본 연구자들은 최근 입계 serration 현상을 단련용 합금에 도입시키는 특별한 열처리를 이론적 접근법을 통해 개발하였다. 형성된 파형입계는 결정학적인 관점에서 조밀 {111} 입계면을 갖도록 분해 (dissociation)되어 낮은 계면에너지를 갖게 됨을 확인하였으며, 입계형상 변화뿐만 아니라 탄화물 특성변화까지 유도하여 크리프 수명을 기존대비 약 40% 정도 향상시킴을 확인하였다. 이러한 직선형 입계 대비 'special boundary'로 간주되는 파형입계가 도입될 경우, HAZ 결정립크기 변화 및 액화거동에 미치는 영향을 고찰하고, 아울러 입계특성 제어가 용접성/용접부 품질 향상에 기여할 수 있는 가능성도 토의하고자 하였다. 본 연구에서는 재현 HAZ 열사이클 시험을 통해 미세구조를 정량적으로 비교하였다. 상대적으로 입계구조가 안정된 파형입계의 이동속도가 高계면 에너지를 갖는 직선형 입계보다 느려 HAZ 결정립 성장이 효과적으로 억제됨을 확인할 수 있었다. 입계 액화거동을 살펴보면, 두 시편 모두 $M_{23}C_6$, MC 등 입계탄화물 계면이 빠른 승온중 액화반응 (constitutional liquation)에 의해 입계가 액화되었으며, 이후 급냉에 의해 입계에 액상막이 존재한 흔적이 발견되었다. 최고온도별로 입계액화 폭/비율을 정량적으로 비교한 결과, 파형입계가 직선입계 대비 대체로 낮음을 확인할 수 있었으며, 때때로 액화되지 않고 잔존하는 입계 탄화물이 관찰되었다. 재현 HAZ 미세조직을 통해 Hot ductility 시험 결과를 유추하자면, 파형입계가 직선입계 보다 좁은 취성온도영역 (Brittle Temperature Range)을 나타낼 것으로 예상되어, 입계특성제어에 의해 Ni기 초내열합금의 용접성을 향상 가능성을 확인하였다.

Effect of Ni on Pt/$Ce_{(1-x)}Zr_{(x)}O_2$ catalysts for water gas shift reaction (WGS 반응용 Pt/$Ce_{(1-x)}Zr_{(x)}O_2$ 촉매에 Ni 첨가에 따른 영향)

  • 최근 WGS반응용 Pt 촉매의 성능 향상을 위한 다양한 담체 및 조촉매(Promotor) 개발에 대한 연구가 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 선행 연구결과, 입방(Cubic)구조를 가지는 $Ce_{0.8}Zr_{0.2}O_2$ 담체는 정방 입계(Tetragonal)구조를 가지는 $Ce_{0.2}Zr_{0.8}O_2$ 담체 또는 혼합산화물(Mixed oxide)구조를 가지는 $Ce_{0.5}Zr_{0.5}O_2$ 담체 보다 높은 활성과 안전성을 가진다. 이것은 촉매의 성능 향상이 Ce-$ZrO_2$의 결정구조에 의존한다는 것을 나타낸다. 따라서 WGS 반응에서 Ce/Zr 비에 따라 변화된 담체 특성이 Pt 촉매의 활성에 영향이 있을 것으로 예상되며 실험결과 1% Pt/$CeO_2$ 촉매가 가장 높은 활성을 나타내었다. 따라서 Pt/Ce-$ZrO_2$ 촉매의 성능 향상을 위해 Ce-$ZrO_2$ 담체에 조촉매인 Ni을 첨가하여 촉매적 활성을 비교하여 보았다. 촉매는 2%의 Pt과 15%의 Ni로 고정하였고 Ce/Zr 비를 제조변수로 하였다. 제조된 모든 담체는 공침법(Co-precipitation)을 사용하여 제조하였으며 $500^{\circ}C$에서 6시간 소성하였다. Pt 촉매는 함침법 (Incipient wetness impregnation)으로 담지 시켰다. 2% Pt/Ce-$ZrO_2$ 촉매와 2% Pt/15% Ni-Ce-$ZrO_2$ 촉매는 저온영역($200^{\circ}{\sim}320^{\circ}C$)에서 비슷한 CO 전환율을 나타내었으나 고온영역($360^{\circ}C{\sim}400^{\circ}C$)에서는 2% Pt/15% Ni-Ce-$ZrO_2$ 촉매가 더 높은 CO의 전환율을 나타내었다. 이것은 Ni의 영향으로 고온에서 부반응인 메탄화 반응(Methanation reaction)이 생긴 것으로 판단되어 메탄($CH_4$)의 선택도를 살펴본 결과 2% Pt/15% Ni-Ce-$ZrO_2$ 촉매가 고온영역($360^{\circ}{\sim}400^{\circ}C$)에서 급격하게 증가하는 것으로 나타나 메탄화 반응이 일어난 사실을 증명한다.

Characteristics of Vitrification Process for Mixture of Simulated Radioactive Waste Using Induction Cold Crucible Melter (유도가열식 저온용융로를 이용한 혼합모의 방사성폐기물의 유리화 공정 특성)

  • In order to simultaneously vitrify the ion exchange resin(IER) and combustible dry active waste(DAW) generated from Korean nuclear power plants, a vitrification pilot test was conducted using an induction cold crucible melter(CCM) . The energy necessary for startup of the glass using a Ti-ring was evaluated as about 290 kWh. The power supplied from a high frequency generator to melt the glass properly was ranged from 160 to 190 kW without any interruption. When the mixture of the IER and DAW was fed into the CCM, the concentration of CO was lowered up to 1/40 compared to feeding the IER solely. It may be caused by the DAW which can produce about 1.8 times higher heat compared to the IER. When the swelling phenomenon occurred in the glass melt, the concentration of $NO_2$, oxidizing gas, was higher than NO, reducing gas. Total feed amounts of the IER and DAW were 368 and 751 kg, respectively. And then, about 74 of volume reduction factor was achieved.
