The Improvement of Digital Textbook Functions Required for Curriculum Reorganization (교육과정 재구성을 위한 디지털교과서 기능 개선 방안 연구)

  • Teachers should be able to reorganize the curriculum according to the student level, reorganize textbooks freely, and distribute them to students. However, current paper-textbooks are difficult to modify or edit some contents and distribute them to students, also current digital textbooks are grouped into units, so the order or educational resources cannot be reconstructed. In addition, The digital textbooks are difficult to update external links or the latest resources, and to contain various multimedia materials or high-definition realistic content due to capacity limitations. Therefore, this study presented functions: teaching and learning and evaluation functions, resources search and sharing functions, learning records and analysis functions, screen showing and printing functions, so that teachers can provide customized learning by level to students using digital textbooks. Through the expert Delphi survey, detailed functions for each area were divided into teachers and students. We proposed expanding and developing digital textbooks to various subjects, and distributing various teaching and learning models using digital textbooks.

A Mobile Landmarks Guide : Outdoor Augmented Reality based on LOD and Contextual Device (모바일 랜드마크 가이드 : LOD와 문맥적 장치 기반의 실외 증강현실)

  • In recent years, mobile phone has experienced an extremely fast evolution. It is equipped with high-quality color displays, high resolution cameras, and real-time accelerated 3D graphics. In addition, some other features are includes GPS sensor and Digital Compass, etc. This evolution advent significantly helps the application developers to use the power of smart-phones, to create a rich environment that offers a wide range of services and exciting possibilities. To date mobile AR in outdoor research there are many popular location-based AR services, such Layar and Wikitude. These systems have big limitation the AR contents hardly overlaid on the real target. Another research is context-based AR services using image recognition and tracking. The AR contents are precisely overlaid on the real target. But the real-time performance is restricted by the retrieval time and hardly implement in large scale area. In our work, we exploit to combine advantages of location-based AR with context-based AR. The system can easily find out surrounding landmarks first and then do the recognition and tracking with them. The proposed system mainly consists of two major parts-landmark browsing module and annotation module. In landmark browsing module, user can view an augmented virtual information (information media), such as text, picture and video on their smart-phone viewfinder, when they pointing out their smart-phone to a certain building or landmark. For this, landmark recognition technique is applied in this work. SURF point-based features are used in the matching process due to their robustness. To ensure the image retrieval and matching processes is fast enough for real time tracking, we exploit the contextual device (GPS and digital compass) information. This is necessary to select the nearest and pointed orientation landmarks from the database. The queried image is only matched with this selected data. Therefore, the speed for matching will be significantly increased. Secondly is the annotation module. Instead of viewing only the augmented information media, user can create virtual annotation based on linked data. Having to know a full knowledge about the landmark, are not necessary required. They can simply look for the appropriate topic by searching it with a keyword in linked data. With this, it helps the system to find out target URI in order to generate correct AR contents. On the other hand, in order to recognize target landmarks, images of selected building or landmark are captured from different angle and distance. This procedure looks like a similar processing of building a connection between the real building and the virtual information existed in the Linked Open Data. In our experiments, search range in the database is reduced by clustering images into groups according to their coordinates. A Grid-base clustering method and user location information are used to restrict the retrieval range. Comparing the existed research using cluster and GPS information the retrieval time is around 70~80ms. Experiment results show our approach the retrieval time reduces to around 18~20ms in average. Therefore the totally processing time is reduced from 490~540ms to 438~480ms. The performance improvement will be more obvious when the database growing. It demonstrates the proposed system is efficient and robust in many cases.

A Study on the Performance Verification Method of Small-Sized LTE-Maritime Transceiver (소형 초고속해상무선통신망 송수신기 성능 검증 방안에 관한 연구)

  • This study evaluated the performance test of a small-sized LTE-Maritime(LTE-M) transceiver that was developed and promoted to expand the use of intelligent maritime traf ic information services led by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries with the aim of supporting the prevention of maritime accidents. Accoriding to statistics, approximately 30% of all marine accidents in Korean water occur with ships weighing less than 3 tons. Therefore, the blind spots of maritime safety must be supplemented through the development of small-sized transceivers. The small transceiver may be used in fishing boats that are active near coastal waters and in water leisure equipment near the coastline. Therefore, verifying whether sufficient performance and stable communication quality are provided is necessary, considering the environment of their real usage. In this study, we reviewed the communication quality goals of the LTE-M network and the performance requirements of small-sized transceivers suggested by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, and proposed a test plan to appropriately evaluate the performance of small-sized transceivers. The validity of the proposed test method was verified for six real-sea areas with a high frequency of marine accidents. Consequently, the downlink and uplink transmission speeds of the small-sized LTE-M transceiver showed performances of 9 Mbps or more and 3 Mbps or more, respectively. In addition, using the coverage analysis system, coverage of more than 95% and 100% were confirmed in the intensive management zone (0-30 km) and interesting zone (30-50 km), respectively. The performance evaluation method and test results proposed in this paper are expected to be used as reference materials for verifying the performance of transceivers, contributing to the spread of government-promoted e-navigation services and small-sized transceivers.

Increasing a Mobile Client's Cache Reusability in Wireless Client - Server Environments (무선 클라이언트-서버 환경에서 이동 클라이언트의 캐시 데이타 재사용율 향상기법)

  • In a wireless client server environment, data broadcasting is an efficient data dissemination method; a server broadcasts data, and some of broadcasted data are cached in a mobile client's cache to save the narrow communication bandwidth, limited resources, and data access time. A server also broadcasts invalidation reports to maintain the consistency between server data and a client's cached data. Most of existing works on the cache consistency problems simply purge the entire cache when the disconnection time is long enough to miss the certain amount(window size) of IRs. This paper presents a cache invalidation method to increase mobile clients' cache reusability in case of a long disconnection. Instead of simply dropping the entire cache regardless of its consistency, a client estimates the cost of purging all the data with the cost of selective purge. If the cost of dropping entire cache is higher, a client maintains the cache and selectively purge inconsistent data using uplink bandwidth for validation request. The simulation results show that this scheme increases the cache reusability since it effectively considers the update rates and the broadcast frequencies of cached data in estimating the cost of cache maintenance.

실시간 MP3 파일 검색 엔진을 위한 지원 시스템의 설계와 구현

  • MP3(MPEG 1 layer 3) 파일 형식(file format)은 최근 높은 압축율과 뛰어난 음질 복원 능력으로 주목을 받고 있다. 실제로 MP3의 압축율은 CD의 약 50분의 1 정도이고 음질은 CD 음질을 동일한 수준으로 유지할 수 있다.한편, 이러한 MP3의 장점 때문에 web을 통해 MP3 파일을 찾으려는 수요는 폭발적으로 증가하고 있지만 기존의 검색 엔진들이 가지고 있는 프로세스는 급속하게 update되고 있는 MP3 컨텐츠에 효과적으로 대응하지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 특히, 기존의 검색 엔진들은 미디어 파일을 위한 검색이 아닌 문자 기반의 검색 기능을 위해 개발되어 MP3 검색에는 부적절하거나, 파일 중심이 아닌 사이트 중심의 링크 변동에 대하여 수동적인 업데이트만을 수행하여 빠른 변화에 능동적으로 대응하기 어려운 경우가 많다.현재 미디어 파일을 위한 검색 엔진들은 여럿 서비스 중이지만, 텍스트 중심의 탐색 방법을 사용하고, 정기적인 DB update 방법에 관해서도 문자 기반의 검색 엔진과 동일한 방법을 사용하고 있다. 또한, 국내에서는 web 서비스를 위한 미디어 파일 탐색 알고리즘과 지능형 탐색 방법에 등에 관한 연구 역시 거의 전무한 상태이다.본 논문은 MP3 파일 전문 검색을 위한 지능형 프로세스를 설계와 구현 결과에 관한 것으로, 기존의 미디어 검색 엔진들이 가지는 문제점을 지적하고 보다 효율적이고 능동적인 미디어 파일 탐색을 위한 방법을 제시한다. 특히, MP3 파일에 대한 미디어 파일 검증 알고리즘과 verification method을 제안하고, 이러한 메커니즘에 따라 구현된 지능형 robot과 spider 등으로 구성된, 신뢰성 있고 지능적인 MP3 검색 엔진 지원 시스템의 설계와 구현 결과 그리고 성능 등을 종합적으로 요약한다.실어증 환자들은 화시적 대명사를 조응적 대명사보다 더 잘 처리하는 동일한 결과를 보였다. 이러한 실험 결과들은 실어증 환자들이 뇌손상으로 인해 문법적 언어처리에는 어려움을 보이지만 비언어적인, 세상 지식과 관련된 화시적 대명사의 처리는 가능할 것이라는 가설을 뒷받침 해준다. 또한 이러한 실험 결과를 통해 대명사의 기능적인 측면에서 화시와 조응의 처리가 구분되어 있음을 보여준다.l mechanism is concentrate on only the reaction zone. Soft Decision based Advanced Receiver to Suppress and Cancel the Interference in D2D Communication Underlaying Cellular Network (셀룰러 네트워크상의 D2D 통신 시스템에서 간섭 억제 및 제거를 위한 연판정 기반 향상된 수신기)

  • Cellular Network assisted device-to-device (D2D) communication has been growing to reduce the overload of eNodeB and mitigate the frequency shortage. However, by sharing the uplink frequency resource with the cellular network, the interference between cellular and D2D is increased. In this paper, we propose the advanced receiver based on soft decision to reduce the interference between cellular and D2D. The proposed receiver can suppress and cancel the interference by calculating the unbiased estimation value of interference signal using minimum mean square error (MMSE) or interference rejection combing (IRC) receiver. The interference signal is updated using soft information expressed by log-likelihood ratio (LLR). We perform a system level simulation based on the 20-MHz bandwidth of the 3GPP LTE-A system. Simulation results show that the proposed receiver can improve SINR, throughput and spectral efficiency compared to conventional receivers.

Reengineering Template-Based Web Applications to Single Page AJAX Applications (단일 페이지 AJAX 애플리케이션을 위한 템플릿 기반 웹 애플리케이션 재공학 기법)

  • Web pages in a template-based web application (TWA) are automatically populated using a template shared by the pages with contents specific to the pages. So users can easily obtain information guided by a consistent structure of the template. Reduced duplicated code helps to increase the level of maintainability as well. However, TWA still has the interaction problem of classic web applications that each time a user clicks a hyperlink a new page is loaded, although a partial update of the page is desirable. This paper proposes a reengineering technique to transform the multi-page structure of legacy Java-based TWA to a single page one with partial page refresh. In this approach, hyperlinks in HTML code are refactored to AJAX-enabled event handlers to achieve the single page structure. In addition, JSP and Servlet code is transformed in order not to send data unnecessary for the partial update. The new single page consists of individual components that are updateable independently when interacting with a user. Therefore, our approach can improve interactivity and responsiveness towards a user while reducing CPU and network usage. The measurement of our technique applied to a typical TWA shows that our technique improves the response time of user requests over the TWA in the range from 1 to 87%.

Design and Performance Analysis of Hybrid Receiver based on System Level Simulation in Backhaul System (백홀 시스템에서 시스템 레벨 시뮬레이션 기반 하이브리드 수신기 설계 및 성능 분석)

  • An advanced receiver which can manage inter-cell interference is required to cope with the explosively increasing mobile data traffic. 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) has discussed network assisted interference cancellation and suppression (NAICS) to improve signal-to-noise-plus-interference ratio (SINR) and receiver performance by suppression or cancellation of interference signal from inter-cells. In this paper, we propose the advanced receiver based on soft decision to reduce the interference from neighbor cell in LTE-Advanced downlink system. The proposed receiver can suppress and cancel the interference by calculating the unbiased estimation value of interference signal using minimum mean square error (MMSE) or interference rejection combing (IRC) receiver. The interference signal is updated using soft information expressed by log-likelihood ratio (LLR). We perform the system level simulation based on 20MHz bandwidth of 3GPP LTE-Advanced downlink system.   • Social media has become one of the most popular media in web and mobile application. In 2011, social networks and blogs are still the top destination of online users, according to a study from Nielsen Company. In their studies, nearly 4 in 5active users visit social network and blog. Social Networks and Blogs sites rule Americans' Internet time, accounting to 23 percent of time spent online. Facebook is the main social network that the U.S internet users spend time more than the other social network services such as Yahoo, Google, AOL Media Network, Twitter, Linked In and so on. In recent trend, most of the companies promote their products in the Facebook by creating the "Facebook Page" that refers to specific product. The "Like" option allows user to subscribed and received updates their interested on from the page. The film makers which produce a lot of films around the world also take part to market and promote their films by exploiting the advantages of using the "Facebook Page". In addition, a great number of streaming service providers allows users to subscribe their service to watch and enjoy movies and TV program. They can instantly watch movies and TV program over the internet to PCs, Macs and TVs. Netflix alone as the world's leading subscription service have more than 30 million streaming members in the United States, Latin America, the United Kingdom and the Nordics. As the matter of facts, a million of movies and TV program with different of genres are offered to the subscriber. In contrast, users need spend a lot time to find the right movies which are related to their interest genre. Recent years there are many researchers who have been propose a method to improve prediction the rating or preference that would give the most related items such as books, music or movies to the garget user or the group of users that have the same interest in the particular items. One of the most popular methods to build recommendation system is traditional Collaborative Filtering (CF). The method compute the similarity of the target user and other users, which then are cluster in the same interest on items according which items that users have been rated. The method then predicts other items from the same group of users to recommend to a group of users. Moreover, There are many items that need to study for suggesting to users such as books, music, movies, news, videos and so on. However, in this paper we only focus on movie as item to recommend to users. In addition, there are many challenges for CF task. Firstly, the "sparsity problem"; it occurs when user information preference is not enough. The recommendation accuracies result is lower compared to the neighbor who composed with a large amount of ratings. The second problem is "cold-start problem"; it occurs whenever new users or items are added into the system, which each has norating or a few rating. For instance, no personalized predictions can be made for a new user without any ratings on the record. In this research we propose a clustering method according to the users' genre interest extracted from social network service (SNS) and user's movies rating information system to solve the "cold-start problem." Our proposed method will clusters the target user together with the other users by combining the user genre interest and the rating information. It is important to realize a huge amount of interesting and useful user's information from Facebook Graph, we can extract information from the "Facebook Page" which "Like" by them. Moreover, we use the Internet Movie Database(IMDb) as the main dataset. The IMDbis online databases that consist of a large amount of information related to movies, TV programs and including actors. This dataset not only used to provide movie information in our Movie Rating Systems, but also as resources to provide movie genre information which extracted from the "Facebook Page". Formerly, the user must login with their Facebook account to login to the Movie Rating System, at the same time our system will collect the genre interest from the "Facebook Page". We conduct many experiments with other methods to see how our method performs and we also compare to the other methods. First, we compared our proposed method in the case of the normal recommendation to see how our system improves the recommendation result. Then we experiment method in case of cold-start problem. Our experiment show that our method is outperform than the other methods. In these two cases of our experimentation, we see that our proposed method produces better result in case both cases.
