To provide a set of data with which instructors may boost the sagging demand for Anglo-American poetry classes, this thesis classifies the kinds of difficulties the students face in reading English poems. Asses to the classification is an analysis on the causes of the difficulties at different levels of the reading process, from the linguistic to the cultural. Arnoldian insight argues that poetry is the best of all forms of writing. Without an ample exposure to poetry, average English majors would barely sharpen the skills that they use to deal with other kinds of writing. To help ease the continuing need for a workable teaching model in English poetry reading classes, this thesis suggests focusing on the kinds of wrong translations produced by the students. According to the theory of cultural translation, any translation, even the wrong kind, is already a product of a very complicated process of interpretation that involves many cultural factors. With the analysis of these factors discovered in Korean college English reading classes, this thesis tries to explain the mechanisms through which wrong translations are produced, since these inevitably lead to wrong interpretations of given poetic texts.

학교 현장에서 이루어지는 교육의 대부분은 교수자 중심의 내용 전달식이다. 프로그래밍 언어와 같은 실습을 필요로 하는 학습에 교수자 중심의 교육을 적용할 경우 문제점이 많다. 실습을 통한 활용보다 언어 자체의 기능 설명에 비중을 두기 때문에 학생들의 흥미와 관심을 유발하지 못하고 있다. 따라서 최근 주목받고 있는 Web 2.0 패러다임인 참여, 공유 및 개방을 교육 분야에 적용하는 것은 당연할 것이다. 본 연구는 C 프로그래밍 언어 학습에 있어서 Web 2.0 클라이언트 기술 중 Ajax를 활용하여 학습자의 참여를 북돋우며, 또한 학습 시스템의 효율적인 자원 사용을 도모하고자 한다.

유아기는 언어를 습득하는데 있어 가장 중요한 시기이다. 이런 중요한 시기에 언어를 습득하는데 흥미를 느끼지 못하고 학습에 쉽게 지루함을 느껴 올바르게 언어 습득을 하지 못하는 유아들이 많다. 이에 대하여 시각 정보와 청각 정보의 결합을 통한 멀티미디어 매체를 이용해 언어 습득에 대하여 올바른 유아 시기를 보내게끔 본 논문에서 제안하고 있다. 또한 햅틱 기술을 이용하여 학습자가 쓰기 학습에 흥미를 느낄 수 있게 하였으며, 피드백 과정을 통하여 올바른 언어 습득에 기여한다.

Educational Programming Language (EPL) should be learner-friendly and easy to use. Dolittle, an object-oriented educational programming language (EPL), offers programming environment which can be programmed in Korean(Hangul). However, since some Dolittle commands are not appropriate to elementary and middle school students, it shows limitations for learners to express programming process. In this paper, we developed a set of 1:n multi-reserved words which are able to program with Korean linguistic characteristics as well as considering learners' differences, preferences, and applicable areas. The conclusion in the paper showed that programming with this 1:n multi-reserved words helped learners concentrate on problem solving regardless of the reserved words.

Scratch, one of the educational programming languages, provides a media-rich programming environment and easy interface to users. It supports Korean language and is utilized usefully in programming classes in elementary and middle schools. However, programming causes cognitive loads to young students. Because the programming process is a complex problem solving procedure that requires logical and abstract thinking abilities. Therefore, we developed a problem based scratch programming teaching and learning model to enhance intrinsic motivation of learners and to maximize the effects of using the scratch, educational programming language. The developed problem based teaching and learning model considered elementary students' characteristics. It was implemented in fifth grade elementary school classes and the educational effects of the model was analysed. The developed model was helpful in enhancing students' problem solving potential and logical thinking abilities.

This study aims to investigate the mediating effects of commitment to learning on the relationship between instructor communication and reselection of the same instructor among college students in lifelong education. For this purpose, the investigator conducted a survey with college students in lifelong education attending a two or three year college or a university in Daegu Metropolitan City and Gyeongsangbuk Province and analyzed a final total of 498 questionnaires with the SPSS 22.0 and AMOS 22.0 statistical programs. The findings were as follows: instructors' verbal and non-verbal communication had total significant effects on the path of reselection of the same instructor by college students in lifelong education, but it had no direct significant effects on reselection of the same instructor. Instructors' verbal and non-verbal communication had indirect effects on reselection of the same instructor by college students in lifelong education via commitment to learning. These findings imply that if instructors make use of their verbal and non-verbal communication in lessons for college students in lifelong education according to their characteristics, it will be able to increase their commitment to learning as well as satisfaction with lessons.

'바른 우리글 쓰기' 학습시스템은 우리말 작문 학습에 필요한 지식을 익히도록 하고자 만들었다. 이 논문의 궁극적인 목표는 한국어 철자/문법 검사기와 국어 학습시스템을 연계하여 학습자가 적극적으로 학습에 참여하도록 동기를 부여하는 능동적인 언어 학습 시스템의 구현이다. 흔히 웹에 기반한 학습시스템에서 학습자는 일방적으로 정보를 제공받거나 독립적인 위치에서 자율적인 학습을 해나가야 하므로 끊임없는 흥미와 관심이 없이는 효율적인 성과를 거두기 어렵다. 이와 같은 약점을 보완하려는 맥락에서 이 학습시스템은 학습자가 스스로 학습한 후 그 결과를 평가 문제나 한국어 철자/문법 검사기를 통해 즉각적으로 확인해 보고 부족한 내용을 공부할 수 있도록 한다.

This case study examines the experiences of an African American student's successful second language acquisition in Korea. There is an increasing number of multicultural families in Korea; but few research on African American students' second language learning. In the past, some American researchers have analyzed African American students as academic underachievers for learning and there is a scarcity of research on African American students' successfully acquiring a second language. With this qualitative research design, the researchers interviewed, and observed an African American girl named Mary. The researchers also interviewed Mary's mother, teacher, and peers about Mary's Korean language development. The results of this study revealed Mary's determined efforts to become a fluent Korean speaker with support from family, community and friends. Mary underwent unique social and systematic supports for her language development. This paper concludes with the educational implication for multicultural language learners in Korea and the possibility to diminish the common stereotypes of African Americans as underachievers.

현재 대부분의 인터넷 강의는 고정된 틀 속에서 이루어지므로 각 학습 주체들의 다양한 요구를 모두 수용하지 못하고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 인트라넷 환경에서 PHP 언어를 이용한 워 데이터베이스의 효율적인 연동 및 사용자 중심의 인터넷 강의시스템을 개발한다. 이를 위해 먼저 효과적인 교수방법의 구현을 위한 교수 지원 틀과 학습자가 보다 적극적으로 강의에 참여할 수 있는 학습자 지원 툴을 개발한다. 이때 HTML에 내장되어 동작하는 스크립트 언어인 PHP를 사용해 웹 데이터베이스의 효율적인 연동과 웹(Web) 문서의 동적인 작성이 가능토록 한다. 또한 교수자와 학습자 관련 라이브러리를 독립적으로 생성하여 관리자의 작업부분을 최소화해 사용자 중심적으로 운영할 수 있도록 한다. 본 시스템은 대부분의 데이터베이스의 정보와 연계가능하며 사용자의 요구에 따른 강의지원 툴의 추가 및 전환이 용이하다. 본 시스템을 학내 전산망에 연결하고 실제 강의에 적용해 시스템의 효율 성을 확인한다.

컴퓨터 성능의 급속한 발전으로 언어 학습에 컴퓨터를 이용하려는 시도는 이제 새로운 언어 교수법 차원으로 발전하는 실정이다. 이에 따라 컴퓨터를 이용한 학습이 더욱 강조되면서, 많은 학습 프로그램이 개발되고 있다. 그러나, 기존 영어 단어 학습 시스템은 학습자에게 지나치게 많은 단어들을 단순한 방법을 통해서 학습하게 함으로써 심리적 부담을 주고 있다. 심리언어학에서는 언어 이해의 과정이 단순히 제시된 것을 그대로 받아들이는 수용의 과정이 아니라 학습자가 이미 보유한 경험과 개념을 근거로 활성망의 확산을 통해 적절한 관계를 찾는 역동적 능동적 과정이라는 이론이 있다. 본 논문에서는 언어 학습 이론을 바탕으로 단어들 사이의 관계를 부각시킴으로써 추론과 기억에 도움을 주는 영어 단어 학습 시스템을 제안한다. 본 시스템은 단어들 간의 관계를 정의한 단어 관계 망을 중심으로 단어 학습 순서를 결정할 수 있고, 이미지 및 게임 기능을 지원하여 단어학습의 흥미를 유발하는 특징이 있다.
