The purpose of this study was to explore the difference mother-child verbal interaction between wordless and narrative picture book. Forty-two 4-year-old middle class children(21 girls and 21 boys) and their mothers were observed in their home. Major findings were as follows: 1) Mothers' verbal interaction strategies shows difference according to the genre of the book. Mothers used more descriptive statement, descriptive questions, inferential statements, evaluative statements and elaborative feedback when sharing the wordless book than the narrative book. 2) Children differently interact when reading picture books of different genres. Children used more descriptive statements, inferential statements and elaborative feedback. 3) Compared with the narrative picture boot mother and child engaged in more turn-taking when reading the wordless picture book. 4) While the proportion of collaborative type was higher when reading the wordless boot the proportion of passive type was higher when the narrative book.
This study was performed in order to examine the effects of one to one interactive picture book reading on infants' reading response and teachers' language teaching efficacy. A total of 50 2-year-olds from 8 child care centers in Incheon were divided into an experimental group and a control group. The interactive picture book reading activities were carried out once a week during 12 weeks. The infants in the experimental group read one-to-one with teachers, and their counterparts read the same book in a group. The change in teachers' language teaching efficacy was examined, and their subjective perception was evaluated through in-depth interview. As a result of this research, the infants in the experimental group showed significantly increased verbal response, compared to the control group, both in the total score and most sub-factors such as naming, responding, asking, demanding, spontaneous utterance, and decontextualized utterance. They also represented a significant rise, compared to the control group, in the total score of non-verbal response and factors like finger indicating, imitating, and accepting. Finally, the teachers who led the experimental group showed increased language teaching efficacy, and evaluated the effects of interactive picture book reading with infants very positively.
Teacher-child interaction was included in kindergarten and child care center accreditation evaluation and is considered as important as teaching and learning methods in the newly implemented Nuri curriculum. The purpose of this study was to confirm the difference of levels (emotional. verbal, behavioral) for the style of the interaction between teachers and children in kindergarten and child-care centers and to analyze direct effect and interaction effect, according to institution(kindergarten, childcare center). teacher(age, educational career, academic career), and child group(child number, child age) variables. The subjects in this study were 191 teachers in kindergartens and child-care centers in G region in Seoul. The overall average of the teacher-child interaction (emotional, verbal and behavioral interactions) was significantly higher, and there were not significant differences depending on the institution type and child group. According to the results of this study, factors of teacher characteristics affected the teacher-child interaction more than child-concerned variables.
Mathematics students must appropriate their mathematical knowledge which has the definition and theorem of mathematics, algorithm, reasonable thought, heuristic, and mathematics language, and so on. That is, students should construct, use, and apply their own knowledge during learning. Appropriation of mathematical knowledge is practicable when mathematics language is in charge of many functions that Vygotsky cited. To reach the potential development level with mathematics language, students need the zones that they interact themselves and peers, as well as teacher. On that ground, this study presented the interactional zones of IZPD, ZPP, and ZAD, and modeled mathematics learning. By the case of 2 students, we found that ZPP and ZAD were necessary and important.
The purpose of this study was to examine the flow of teacher-student verbal interactions and the types of discourse in the science gifted classes of three effective teachers. The three effective teacher were recommended by the expert of a gifted education or science education expert. A participant observation was carried out in their classes, and all the classes were videotaped. The collected videotape materials were transcribed, and Flanders Interaction Analysis Categories and an AF program were utilized to analyze the video clips. The findings of this study were as follows: First, there was no specific flow of verbal interactions in the classes provided by the effective gifted teachers, but the kind of positive verbal interaction that the students responded diversely to their questions or lectures took place. Second, the most prevalent type of utterance in the classes of them was lecturing, and the remark of direction and criticism scarcely took place. And lots of non-directive remarks were found such as emotional acceptance, praise, encouragement or acceptance of ideas. As a result, the effective science gifted teachers made more nondirective remarks such as emotional acceptance, praise, encouragement and acceptance of ideas than directive remarks such as direction or criticism, and their non-directive remark made it possible to elicit more extensive responses from their students.

This study analyzes the verbal interaction patterns used in a social network activity analysis that appeared in a science inquiry activity of 31 small groups of science-gifted students consisting of 5 members each. The results of this study are as follows: The interaction patterns showed eight types. The most prevalent interaction pattern, type 1, is triangle-shaped, interacting with 3 members out of 5 without a central member. Type 2 is wye form, interacting with 4 members and with one alienated member. Type 3 is diamond-shaped, interacting with 4 members. Type 4 is ray form, interacting with 5 around a central member. Type 5 has an alienated member and interacts with 4 members around the central member. Type 6 is triangle-branched, 4 members linked to the central member. Type 7 is wye form linked all around the central member. Type 8 is wye form with a more complex link than type 7. These can be classified in two. One is the participation-type where the rest of the 4 members are linked to the central member. The other is the alienation-type where a member/members is/are alienated without a central member. The participation-type appeared in 9 groups (29%), type 4, type 6, type 7, and type 8. The alienation-type showed in 22 groups (71%), type 1, type 2, type 3, and type 5. On the basis of this study, we propose that the best number of members in a group is three. It helps prevent a free-riding effect or isolation of members. Also, we deem it more fruitful if there is a member playing a central role in a group.
The purpose of this research is to reveal the difference of teacher-child interaction in relation to professionalism awareness and sensitivity level of early childhood teachers. To this end, we used professionalism awareness, sensitivity, teacher-child interaction as parameters for 226 early childhood teachers in Jeonbuk province. Here are the results : First, we investigated the difference of professionalism awareness, sensitivity, teacher-child interaction in relation to the background of early childhood teachers, and it differs by the age, career, educational level of the teachers. Second, we made group comparison to see the difference of teacher-child interaction depending on professionalism awareness level of teachers, and teachers with high professionalism awareness showed meaningfully higher emotional, verbal, behavioral interaction level than lower group. Third, we made group comparison to see the difference of teacher-child interaction depending on sensitivity level, and teachers of high sensitivity shows meaningfully higher emotional, verbal interaction than lower group. This result could be potential data to ameliorate the quality of teacher-child interaction, and it implies that the improvement of professionalism and sensitivity level could contribute to professional performance capability of teachers.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the differences between children's internal variables (gender, temperament, development) and environmental variables (teaching efficacy, teaching - child interaction, classroom environment) The data collected for this study were analyzed using descriptive statistics, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, cluster analysis, and t-test using the SPSS 22.0 program. The results are as follows. First, the peer interaction of the infant showed a difference in sex between the types. Second, children's peer interaction showed differences in interstitial temperament, language development, and cognitive development. Third, the peer interaction of young children was different between the types of environment variables such as teaching efficacy, teacher - infant interaction, and classroom environment. As a result, it is suggested that the children's social temperament will lead to healthy peer interaction, and that language development and cognitive development will lead to a positive developmental process. In this study, the meaning and meaning of children's intergenerational behaviors in children's gender and temperament, language and cognitive development, and environmental variables such as teaching efficacy, teacher - infant interaction, I checked. In addition, it is meaningful that the positive and negative peer interactions are segmented and analyzed in detail to examine the peer interaction of infants. However, the limitation of this study is that it is not possible to investigate all the fields belonging to the infant's personal variables and environmental variables.
A sample of 322 18-month-old infants and their mothers were assessed longitudinally at 24 and 30 months. Maternal utterances and styles of linguistic interaction were measured during a 10 minute free play session. Mothers completed a vocabulary checklist for infants. Longitudinal data were analyzed by multilevel modeling. Results indicated that vocabulary increased with age of infants and the growth rate was highly predictable by the size of vocabulary at 18 months. The growth rate was strongly influenced by maternal questioning and feedback. The effect of the maternal linguistic input was constant with age. Gender differences in size of vocabulary did not vary systematically with age.

In this study, we developed an analogy-generating strategy and applied this to a 7th grade science-gifted class. The types of analogies they generated, verbal interactions and analogy-generating patterns, and perceptions of five groups on the analogy-generating strategy were examined. The analyses of the results revealed that there was a higher proportion of the elaborated analogies in terms of quality generated by science-gifted students individually in the analogy-generating strategy than in general analogy-generating activity. After having small group activities, most small groups generated the elaborated analogies. The frequencies and percentages of verbal interactions of each sub-stage were found to be slightly different. Analogy-generating patterns in small groups were categorized into three types; selecting in-depth source, selecting inclusive source, and selecting surficial source. The elaborating patterns of mapping between a target concept and analogies were different among the types. Science-gifted students positively perceived in terms of its values and attitudes toward the analogy-generating strategy, and they responded that the analogy-generating strategy was helpful in generating more elaborated analogies and fostering creative thinking. Therefore the analogy-generating strategy is expected to generate positive impact on the creativity of science-gifted students.
