Bearing Capacity of Shallow Foundation on a Finite Layer of Sandy Ground Underlain by a Rigid Base (강성저면위 유한한 두께의 모래지반에 놓인 얕은기초의 지지력)

  • In this paper the method of estimating the bearing capacity of shallow foundation on a finite layer of sandy ground underlain by a rigid base was proposed by assessing results of the model test and the numerical analyses. For model experiments, the centrifuge tests under 1g and 20 g of gravitational levels were performed with sandy soils sampled from the field, changing the relative density of sandy soil and the ratio of thickness of sand layer (H) to the width of strip footing (B). As results of tests, bearing capacity tends to increase with the value of H/B while settlement for a given load intensity decreases. Bearing capacity also increases with relative density of the soil. In order to propose the method of estimating the bearing capacity of thin sandy layer underlain by a rigid base, values of bearing capacity factors from test results were compared with the values of modified bearing capacity factor by Mandel & Salencon (1972) considering the effect of H/B value on bearing capacity. The relation of bearing capacity factor ratio, normalizing friction angle of sandy soil, with the value of H/B was suggested so that this relation could be applied to design in the safe side. The results of numerical analyses obrained by changing the layout of footing, relative density of sandy soil and the value of H/B, were in good agreements with the suggested relation.

An Analytical Solution of Progressive Wave-Induced Residual Pore-Water Pressure in Seabed (진행파동장하 해저지반내 잔류간극수압의 해석해)

  • In this paper, the errors found in the existed analytical solutions described the mechanism of residual pore-water pressure accumulation were examined and a new analytical was proposed. The new analytical solution was derived by using a Fourier series expansion and separation of variables was verified by comparison with the existed both analytical and numerical solutions and experimental result. The new analytical solution is very simple that there is no need for numerical integration for deep soil thickness. In addition, the solutions of the residual pore-water pressure for finite, deep, and shallow soil thickness reveled that it is possible to approach from finite to shallow soil thickness, but not possible to deep soil thickness because there was discontinues zone between finite and deep soil thickness.

Evaluation on Usefulness of Abdomen and Chest Motion Control Device (ABCHES) for the Tumor with a Large Respiratory Motion in Radiotherapy (호흡으로 인한 움직임이 큰 종양의 방사선치료 시 Abdomen and Chest Motion Control Device (ABCHES)의 유용성 평가)

  • Purpose: It is essential to minimize the respiratory-induced motion of involved organs in the Tomotherapy for tumor located in the chest and abdominal region. However, the application of breathing control system to Tomotherapy is limited. This study was aimed to investigate the possible application of the ABCHES system and its efficacy as a means of breathing control in the tomotherapy treatment. Materials and Methods: Five subjects who were treated with a Hi-Art Tomotherapy system for lung, liver, gallbladder and pancreatic tumors. All patients undertook trained on two breathing methodes using an ABCHES, free breathing methode and shallow breathing methode. When the patients could carry out the breathing control, 4D-CT scan was a total of 10 4D tomographic images were acquired. A radiologist resident manually drew the tumor region, including surrounding nomal organs, on each of CT images at the inhalation phase, the exhalation phase and the 40% phase (mid-inhalation) and average CT image. Those CT images were then exported to the Tomotherapy planning station. Data exported from the Tomotherapy planning station was analyzed to quantify characteristics of dose-volume histograms and motion of tumors. Organ motions under free breathing and shallow breathing were examined six directions, respectively. Radiation exposure to the surrounding organs were also measured and compared. Results: Organ motion is in the six directions with more than a 5 mm displacement. A total of 12 Organ motions occurred during free breathing while organ motions decreased to 2 times during shallow breathing under the use of Abches. Based on the quantitative analysis of the dose-volume histograms shallow breathing showed lower resulting values, compared to free breathing, in every measure. That is, treatment volume, the dose of radiation to the tumor and two surrounding normal organs (mean doses), the volume of healthy tissue exposed to radiation were lower at the shallow breathing state. Conclusion: This study proposes that the use of ABCHES is effective for the Tomotherapy treatment as it makes shortness of breathing easy for patients. Respiratory-induced tumor motion is minimized, and radiation exposure to surrounding normal tissues is also reduced as a result.

Characteristics of Ice Jam and flow in channel Bends (만곡수로에서의 Ice Jam과 흐름특성)

  • Presented in this paper is a brief summary of the basic theory and observation from a laboratory investigation aimed at determining flow characteristics and ice jam topography in a sinuous channel, and in a single-bend channel. The sinuous channel comprised thirteen $90^{\circ}$ bends and was of comparatively small s\aspect ratio. The single-bend channel was a $180^{\circ}$ bend, which was an order of magnitude large in width as well as aspect ratios than the sinuous channel. The simulated ices were polyethylene and polypropylene beads and block. The streamwise velocities near the bottom were larger than that of surface in sinuous channel and forming ice jam in sinuous channel, this phenoumena were found strongly. Jams were generally thicker along the inner bank of bends. The path of maximum-streamwise velocity was displaced towards approachs side of the inner bank of bends. Radial variation of jam thickness was to be regular by increasing size of ice fragments. The rate of jam head progression around outer bank of the single bend was faster than that of inner bank and its velocity was roughly steady. With increasing Froude number, jm thickness became less uniformly distributed; being generally thicker along the inner bank and near the jam's toe. Two-layer model might be adaptable for the computing the streamwise velocity in shallow river bends. Two cells of secondary flow cound be expected in ice covered-river bends.

  • 하천 내에서 하상변동은 치수나 생태계에 직간접적인 영향을 끼치는 것으로 알려져 있다. 하상변동의 예측을 위한 여러 가지 모델들이 존재하지만 하상변동의 양상을 직관적으로 파악하기에는 어려움이 있다. 최근 수행된 연구 결과에 따르면 하천의 수리 기하학적 형상이 부유사 농도와 유량과의 관계와 관련이 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다(Kim et al., 2018). 본 연구에서는 수리기하(Hydraulic Geometry) 이론을 이용하여 하천의 형상에 따른 유사거동과의 상관관계를 통해서 하상의 장기적 변동성을 직관적으로 유추할 수 있는 기법을 제시하고자 한다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 수리기하 이론에서의 수심과 폭을 나타내는 인자들을 이용하여 하천의 형상을 넓고 얕은 하천, 좁고 깊은 하천, 중간 정도의 하천으로 분류하였으며 흐름조건을 정상류와 부정류조건으로 분류하였다. 또한 하상경사와 하상재료의 입경 분포를 고려하여 자연하천에서 존재할 수 있는 다양한 하천형상에 대해 수치모의를 진행하였다. 기존의 Manning 공식에 수심, 유속만 고려한 것이 아닌 조도계수까지 고려하여 수리기하 이론을 접목시킴으로서 유속과 수심의 수리기하적 인자로 계산된 하상전단력의 수리기하적 인자가 수치모의를 통해 구한 값과 거의 일치하는 것을 확인하였다. 하천의 형상이 넓고 얕을수록 수리기하 관계로 표현한 하상전단력 인자가 작은 값을 나타냈으며 수리기하 관계로 표현한 부유사농도인자와 하상전단력 인자가 비슷한 양상을 띄는 것이 확인되었다. 이를 통해 하천이 기하학적 형상으로부터 하상의 변동성을 유추할 수 있었다. 실제 하천에 대한 검증은 금강 수계에 있는 미호천과 갑천을 대상으로 수행하였다. 수리기하적으로 표현하였을때 갑천은 미호천에 비해 넓고 얕은 하천에 속하는데 현재까지 관측된 자료를 이용하여 두 하천의 하상변동량을 비교해본 결과 갑천이 미호천에 비해 변동량이 적었으며 이는 위의 내용과 일치한 결과를 나타냈다.

  • STI has been studied a lot as a process technology for wide area planarization according to miniaturization and high integration of semiconductor devices. In this study, as methods for improving the STI profile, wet etching of pad oxide using hydrofluorine solution and dry etching of O2+CF4 after STI dry etching were proposed. This process technology showed improvement in profile imbalance and leakage current between patterns according to device density compared to the conventional method. In addition, as a result of measuring the HLD thickness after CMP for a device having the same STI depth and HLD deposition, the measured value was different depending on the device density. It was confirmed that this was due to the difference in the thickness of the nitride film according to the device density after CMP and the selectivity of the slurry.

Ground behaviour according to ground water locations due to tunnelling below shallow foundation by laboratory model test (실내모형시험을 통한 얕은 기초 하부에서 터널굴착 시 지하수위 위치에 따른 지반거동)

  • Tunnelling is getting more important solutions for problems induced by the growth population in urban areas. Many studies on tunnelling below existing structure are carried out by many researchers. In general, however, ground water condition is ignored for most of researches using laboratory model test, so far. In case of ground behavior, error can occur if the result of effective stress related to hydraulic condition can't be taken into considerations. In this study, therefore, laboratory model test and the close range photogrammetry were conducted to investigate behaviour of ground and shallow foundation using newly device drainage system which is available to express the ground water condition. Also, numerical analysis was carried out to compare to results from the laboratory model test, and was performed with two methods, one is plastic and the other one is fully coupled analysis. Results from those two methods were compared to that of the laboratory model test.

  • We have investigated the growth kinetics and electronic properties of passive film of zinc in borate buffer solution. The oxide film formed in passivation process of zinc has showed the electronic properties of n-type semiconductor based on the Mott-Schottky equation. And it was found out that the oxide film consisted ZnO and $Zn(OH)_2$ was composed of deep and shallow donors.

  • 본 연구는 SWAT-MODFLOW에 포함된 양수모듈 (MODFLOW의 well package와 SWAT의 결합)을 경안천 유역에 시험적으로 적용한 것이다. SWAT-MODFLOW 모형에서 SWAT 모형의 대수층과 MODFLOW 모형의 Well Package의 연계는 함양우물과 배출우물 모두 사용이 가능하며 이 중 얕은 대수층에서의 배출우물에 관한 적용을 수행하였다. 물이동의 목적지는 하천, 저수지일 수도 유역외일 수도 있는데 양수된 물이 유역 밖으로 소비되는 경우로 국한하였다. 이를 위해서 소유역내 MODFLOW의 셀에 배출정을 위치시키고 두 가지 경우의 양수량에 대해 지하수위 변화와 물수지 변화를 살펴보았다. 양수 후 일정기간이 지난 시점에서 양수정 영향권내 유역 단면(남-북방향)에서의 지하수위 변화를 살펴본 바 개선된 양수모듈은 유역내 물이동을 효과적으로 묘사하고 있으며 지하수 유출량의 감소분은 하천으로 옮겨져 지표수 증가분으로 계산되고 있음을 물수지 변화를 통해 확인할 수 있었다.

A Study on the Correlation between Coal Mining Subsidence and Underground Goaf (페탄광지역의 지반침하발생과 지하 채굴적의 상관관계 연구)

  • This study is to examine a relation between coal mining subsidence occurrence at abandoned underground coal mines and underground goaf with respect to surface geology, subsurface structure, depth and thickness of coal beds and the distribution of drifts. A study is carried out at the site where susceptibility of coal mining subsidence was proven high in a previous study. In that previous study, the susceptibility of coal mining subsidence was spatially analyzed by GIS using digitized geological maps, investigation reports, digitized mining tunnel maps without consideration of subsurface structure and the multi-level arrangement of drifts. Here we analyze geological characteristics around the goaf and the distribution of coal seam based upon digitized geological maps and investigation reports on the study area. And digitized mining tunnel maps are also used to analyze the depth and multi-level arrangement of drifts. The results show that weakened surface rock strength, relatively shallow depth and large thickness of coal seam below the surface are closely related to the coal mining subsidence occurrence. Complicatedly inter-connected drifts, shallow depth of drifts and surface rock fractures are revealed as additional control factors affecting coal mining subsidence. These factors examined in this study as well as original factors should be taken into account for the quantitative estimation of coal mining subsidence occurrence at abandoned underground coal mine.
