A Study of Storm Surges of the Seas in North eastern asia I. Analysis of Yearly Maximum Surge (東北 아시아 海域의 暴風海溢 硏究 I. 暴風海溢 年別 極値 分析)

  • The hourly sea level data are analyzed in order to find the general characteristics of the storm surges at the coasts of Korea, Japan and Russia. the surges are calculated by removing the predicted tides from the observed sea level at 44 tidal stations. In korea, positive and negative surges of the west coast are larger than those of the south and east coasts. The magnitudes of negative surges are larger than those of positive surges at the west of Japan. The surges of the northern Russian coast are relatively larger than those of the southern west coast of japan. The yearly maximum positive surges at the west coast of Korea, are found to be caused by extratropical storm, but the maximum positive surges at the south or the east coast of Korea are due to the summer typhoon. Mostly the yearly maximum negative surges occur at the west coast of Korea (particularly Inchon), and they are caused by extratropical storm.

  • In this paper, the problems of the conventional amplitude panning method for a stereophonic panning system are analyzed. We observed that the distortion showed a feedforward comb filter response. As a remedy to this distortion, we propose a stereophonic panning system using a feedback comb filter. The comb filter is designed to minimize the difference between interaural level difference(ILD) of the proposed system and that of HRTF because ILD is most salient cue for the perception of the source direction. The proposed system is configured to operate selectively for the frequency band related to the source direction. The performance of the proposed system is verified by subjective listening tests.

Nonlinear Transformation of Long Waves at a Bottom Step (해저단에서의 장파의 비선형 변형)

  • We consider the preparation of long finite amplitude nondispersive waves over a step bottom between two regions of finite different depths. Two dimensional motion is assumed. with the wave crests parallel to the step, and irrotational flow in the inviscid fluid is considered. To describe the transformation of finite amplitude waves we use the finite-amplitude shallow-water equations, the conditions of mass flow conservation and pressure continuity at the cut above the step in Riemann's variables. The equations define four families of curves-characteristics on which the values of the Riemann's invariants remain constant and a system of two nonlinear equations that relates the amplitudes of incident reflected and transmitted waves. The system obtained is difficult to analyze in common form. Thus we consider some special cases having practical usage for tsunami waves. The results obtained are compared with the long wave theory and significant nonlinear effects are found even for quite small amplitude waves.

  • This paper deals with the performance comparison of adaptive equalization algorithm, CMA and MMA, that is used for the minimization of the distortion and noise effect in the communication channel at receiver.. We confirmed the application possibilities of the point to point or point to multipoint digital transmission technologies by analyzing the performance of MMA which is changing the error function of CMA that is the possible algorithm of fast equalization by relatively simple arithmatic computation compared to the other method. In CMA algorithm, we need the PLL for the amplitude compensation only and not possible to phase compensation inherently. But in MMA algorithm, we confired that the amplitude and phase of received signal can be compensated by computer simulation. For the comparison of algorithm, we used the essential performance index, convergence characteristics and residual isi. The result of performance comparison of algorithms, the MMA has good in convergence characteristic and the CMA has good in residual isi that is used for the amplitude compensation.

  • Binaural interaction can recognize the same intensity sound by stimulating two ears alternatively, and it can be record auditory brainstem responses (ABR). However, We needs to be researched about binaural interaction in asymmetric binaural acoustic stimulation. 17 normal young hearing university students were participated. Clicks were presented at the intensity of 90 dB nHL to one ear and the click intensity was increased from 0 to 90 dB nHL with a separation of 10 dB to another ear, simultaneous. BI waveform was obtained by subtracting the sum of the asymmetrically evoked potentials from the binaurally evoked potentials; i.e. BI = B - (L + R). Latency and amplitude was measured 'peak to following trough' of IV-V complex of BI waveform. Threshold of BIC (t-BIC) was obtained using amplitude depend on stimulus intensities (paired sample t-test). Latency shifted in 4.65, 4.63, 4.57, 4.58, 4.62, 4.6, 4.48, 4.36, 4.23 ms for peak, 5.57, 5.51, 5.51, 5.59, 5.61, 5.55, 5.44, 5.28, 5.19 ms for trough, and amplitude shifted in .0.32, -0.3, -0.34, -0.32, -0.42, -0.53, -0.54, -0.61, $-0.67{\mu}V$ from 0 to 90 dB nHL in every 10 dB, respectively. t-BIC was observed 40 dB nHL(p=.001).

  • 이글은 LDV의 단일실현형 데이터로부터 얻어지는 여러 통계치의 정확한 추정을 위해 기존에 발표된 논문들을 정리함으로써 난류유동장에 대한 실험에서 정밀한 실험값을 얻고자 하는데 목 적을 두었다. LDV로부터 얻어지는 데이터열로부터 추정되는 통계값은 머리말에서 언급되었듯이 다른 여러 가지 편의들에 의해서도 영향을 받는다. 또한 속도 편의의 존재여부에 대해 실험을 근거로 한 논란은 계속되어 왔는데 이는 가우시안 형태의 레이저 빔이 갖는 강도분포에 의해 나타난다고 알려져 있다. 즉, 측정체적을 지나는 산란입자에 대한 광감지기에서 검출되는 산란 광전자는 속도편의와 상반되는 효과를 나타내며 이를 진폭편의(amplitude biss)라 한다. 이 속 도편의와 진폭편의의 상대적인 양은 실험자가 입자 도착 시간간격에 대한 확률분포함수 등을 사용해서 결정해야 한다. 결론적으로 산란입자에 의한 여러 가지 통계 추정량의 편의오차를 줄 이기 위해서는 제편의문제에 대한 이해와 실험치를 바탕으로 한 실험연구인들의 적절한 판단이 필수적이다.

Acoustic characteristics of pacific white-sided dolphin sound observed in the middle coast of Donghae (동해중부연안에서 관측된 흰줄무늬 돌고래 발생음의 음향 특성)

  • 동해 중부 연안(수심: 200 m)에서 해수 중 주위잡음을 측정하는 동안 태평양 흰줄무늬 돌고래(pacific white-sided dolphin, 학명: Lagenorhynchus obliquidens)의 발생음을 수신하였으며 그 음향 특성을 분석하였다. 그 결과 얻어진 결론을 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 돌고래 발생음의 파형은 임펄스의 형태로서 그것의 전체 길이는 0.25~60.50 ms였고, 처음에 음(-)의 방향으로 작은 진폭을 보였으며, 그 후 작은 진폭으로 빠르게 감쇠진동하고 있는 형태를 나타내었다. 둘째, 돌고래 발생음의 주파수 스펙트럼은 약 18~90kHz의 광범위한 성분을 포함하고 있었다. 셋째, 돌고래 발생음의 스펙트럼 레벨 피크는 주파수 범위 35~55 kHz에서 나타났으며, 이것은 돌고래의 발생음이 없는 경우 해수 중 주위잡음의 레벨에 비하여 약 30~40 dB 높게 나타났다.

Determination of Ocean Tidal Loading Components at GPS Permanent Stations (GPS 상시관측소에서의 해양조석 부하로 인한 부하성분의 결정)

  • This paper have calculated a relative heights of an each station using the data which were observed by GPS permanent stations(Chejudo, Homigoj, Jumunjin, Marado, Palmido, Ulengdo, Youndo) established in Korea. We performed spectrum analysis with a calculated relative heights by CLEAN algorithm. Through these process, we estimated vertical displacement of earth surface by semi-dinural ocean tidal loading components, and compared them with the results which were calculated by improving ocean tide model(NA099jb) for adjacent seas around Japan and Korea. As the result of this study, we determined the ocean tidal loading components with loading effects of $M_2$ and $N_2$, and we noted that the amplitude and the phase lags of ocean tidal loading components from observed GPS data were almost equal to values calculated from ocean tide models. However, the loading components about semi-diurnal tide $S_2$, $K_2$ couldn't estimate because of periods. Also, the diurnal ocean tide loading components were not considered, because the noise level have increased during the diurnal frequency.

  • 본 논문에서는 공간에 위치한 음원으로부터 양 귀에 들리는 음향을 좌우 대칭형 스피커를 이용하여 재현하는 기술에 대한 문제점, 즉 좌우 스피커와 양 귀의 음압전달 특성에 수반되는 Cross-talk 제거와 음향학적 모델 선정에 대한 문제점들을 우선 소개한다. 이러한 문제점을 해결할 수 있는 Transaural 필터의 모델 제시와 본 모델의 음향학적 특성을 고찰한다. 본 연구에서는 인간 청각 기관의 공간 인지량적 인자인 ILB(interaural Level Difference)와 ITD(Tnteraural Time Difference)의 개념을 이용한 새로운 Cross-talk 제거 방법과 그리고 청각기관의 "Masking" 특성을 이용한 Transaural 필터의 진폭 보상 방법을 새로이 제안한다. 끝으로 제안된 기법은 음색 왜곡과 음질 저하를 최소화할 수 있는 장점 뿐 아니라 현장 음향 기사들이 직접 음향제작에 적용할 수 있는 장점 또한 제공한다.

Development of a Fuzzy Fault Diagnosis System in Variable Speed Rotating Shafts (가변 속도 회전체의 퍼지 고장 진단 시스템의 개발)

  • A fault diagnosis system for a variable speed rotating shaft probably demands a huge database, which makes it diffcult to be realized. This stuydy presents an effective method of fault diagnosis for variable speed rotating shafts. The proposed method is based upon a fuzzy reasoning and it includes a stepwize strategy to reduce the size of database in a diagnosis system. A computer program is developed to show the procedure of the diagnosis, and four cases of faults are applied to the program to illustarate the effectiveness of the proposed method. The propsed method is found to be useful in reducing the size of database from observation of the data files of the dianosis system. The case studies show that the proposed method can be useful for the diagnosis of variable speed rotating shafts.
