  • In recent years, construction company makes inroads into the world construction market, and receives the order of extra-large concrete structure under marine environment in south-east asia specially. At this point of time, to enhance the quality of concrete, we research the High Strength Concrete (HSC) containing mineral admixtures. In this study, therefore, HSC with various combination of ordinary portland cement(OPC), blast-furnace slag(SG), silica fume(SF), and expansion admixture(SS) are cured 23 and $35^{\circ}C$ considering the site weather, and are cured in water for 3, 7 or 56 days respectively. Test results show that the HSC cured at $35^{\circ}C$ gains higher early-age strength but eventually gains lower later-age strength compare with the HSC cured at $23^{\circ}C$. Especially, HSC with combination of OPC+SG+SF+SS or OPC+SG+SF show very excellent resistance of chloride penetration. The permeability of HSC was therefore enhanced as because of containing the proper content of SG, SF, and SS and making dense micro-structure of HSC.

  • This study aims to evaluate the applicability of high-strength concrete mixed with blast furnace slag to shield segment lining in order to improve its performance and economic efficiency. Especially, it was also intended to derive the optimum replacing ratio of ground granulated blast furnace slag to ordinary cement as well as the optimum steam curing condition for shield segment concrete with the design strength of 60 MPa. From a series of experiments, the condition of 50% replacement of ordinary cement by ground granulated blast furnace slag and unit water content of 125 kg/$m^3$ was proposed as the optimum mixing condition. Comparing with standard curing conditions, it was also possible to expect approximately 110~442% strength improvement of concrete by steam curing in the same mixing condition.

  • In this study, autogenous shrinkage strain and prediction models of concrete specimens were compared with strength level and development rate. Also, concrete autogeneous shrinkage under various curing conditions was investigated. The results showed that autogeneous shrinkage increased as concrete strength increased. However, when the concrete strength was almost identical, the initial autogeneous shrinkage of OPC was larger than BFS, but the final autogeneous shrinkage of BFS was larger than OPC. Early wet curing reduced autogeneous shrinkage strain. Especially, when the early wet curing was applied for more than 24 hours, final autogeneous shrinkage was significantly reduced. The results showed that the existing EC2 models do not reflect concrete properties properly. Therefore, the revised model was proposed to better predict autogeneous shrinkage.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the meaning of YangSaeng exercise as a recreational activity for older adults. Twelve older adults who participated in the 'YangSaeng Exercise' at the S Senior Welfare Service Center were interviewed through purposeful sampling method. Each participant was interviewed two times, and data were analyzed using Strauss and Corbin's(1988) grounded theory method. Centralization was appeared as 'An addiction to YangSaeng exercise' and causal conditions were appeared as 'Visiting Welfare Center' and 'Participation in YangSaeng exercise program' and situational context were appeared as 'Self-management of old ages' and 'For possession of Independent Life' as the results of Axial Coding. Moreover, arbitrational conditions were 'Coexistence of Regret and Attraction' and interaction strategies were appeared as 'Accept', 'Effort and Easing Mind' and 'Share Together'. As a result, 'Appreciation', 'YangSaeng Exercise that comes in my Life' and 'Softly Pitapat' were derived. Core category of 'Living Joyfully with comforted and eased' was selected through outline of story which means it contains Positivity and Expectations, Acceptance and Acknowledgement, Satisfaction and Appreciation, and Commitment and Hope. Based on the findings, we acknowledge that YangSaeng exercise plays a role in improving quality of life of older adults as a recreational activity. This study sheds light on the possibility of implementing 'YangSaeng Exercise' as a health promotion activity among older adults.

  • Recently, much attention has focused on the study of eco-friendly concrete using recycled by-products for protecting marine ecosystem and durability of concrete exposed to marine condition. This study evaluated the durabilities of 4 different type of concrete mixtures(Control, Marine, Porous, New slag) with the seawater resistance by marine environment exposure experiment and freeze-thaw resistance, resistance to chloride ion penetration considering severe deterioration environment. In this study, we conducted seawater resistance using compressive strength according to the age(7/28/56 days) of specimen and curing conditions(standard(fresh water), tidal, immersion, artificial seawater). The results show that compressive strength of concrete exposed to marine environment exposure condition was lower than those of the standard curing condition. Also, compressive strength of New slag using eco-friendly materials for protecting marine ecosystem was lower than those of other concretes, there is need to improve the performance of New slag. The results for freeze-thaw resistance showed that all mixtures have excellent, but the Porous and New slag were lower than others. Also, the more improved resistance to chloride ion penetration than those of the Marine was measured in the New slag regardless of curing condition.

  • Drying shrinkage have influence on the durability of concrete structure. Various models have been suggested to predict the drying shrinkage, experimentally. In this study, the drying shrinkage with Concrete strength and Curing condition was measured, and compared with representative model code. As a result, drying shrinkage was reduced as W/C ratio decrease, and total shrinkage greatly reduced in 4 week wet curing case. The test results agreed with EC2 model better than the other.

  • This study is to analyze the cause of the defects in polyurethane waterproofing, a material commonly used on the roof of buildings, and to determine if it has a relation with the curing conditions of humidity and temperature and the moisture content of the base structure. As a result, it was confirmed that the waterproofing coating did not adhere when the moisture content of the base plate was 10% or more. When the temperature and humidity conditions were 20℃ and 80%RH, none of the properties deteriorate but when the temperature was 40℃, 60%RH, air bubbles were formed on the surface, and at 40℃ and 80%RH, the basic properties of the dry coating film were less than the KS F 3211 performance standard.
