  • Solid hydrated by hydro-thermal synthesis reaction is cured two times, the first curing is the steam curing at atmospheric pressure and the second one is a high-pressure steam curing, that is autoclaving. Steam curing is to acquire the proper strength for the resistance of treatment in the first curing process, it was not evaluated properly so far. Because of ignorance about curing, some engineers even think that the dry curing is better than the steam curing. The relation between compressive strength of solid hydrated by hydrothermal synthesis reaction and curing condition are presented in this paper. In order to investigate the effect of curing on the strength properties of specimen, the hydration behavior of solid hydrated by hydro-thermal synthesis reaction has been studied over curing condition using XRD, DT-TGA and porosimeter, SEM analysis technique. The results show that the specimens which are cured with blended method of dry and steam curing appear to have better strength properties than that of dry curing and steam curing. Also, there are significant difference of hydration behavior among curing condition in the solid hydrated by hydro-thermal synthesis reaction.

  • This study is experimentally investigated the effects of various steam curing parameters on the early-age compressive strength development of high strength concrete (over 40 MPa) in the precast plant production. High strength concrete are used only ordinary portland cement (type I) and water-cement ratio selected 3cases (25%, 35% and 45%). Also, steam curing parameters are as followings ; (1) Preset period 2cases (3 hours and 6 hours) (2) Maximum curing temperature 3cases ($45^{\circ}C$, $55^{\circ}C$ and $65^{\circ}C$) (3) Maintenance time of curing temperature 3cases (4 hours, 6 hours and 8 hours) (4) Maximum rate of heating and cooling $15^{\circ}C$/hr. Initial setting time and adiabatic temperature rising ratio of these concrete according to water-cement ratio are tested before main tests and examined the compressive strength development for the steam curing parameters. Also compressive strength are compared with optimum steam curing condition and standard curing at test ages. As test results, the optimum steam curing conditions for high strength concrete(over 40 MPa) are as followings. (1) Preset period ; over initial setting time of concrete (2) Maximum curing temperature ; bellow $55^{\circ}C$ (3) Maintenance time of curing temperature ; bellow 6hours. Also strength development of steam curing concrete show in the reversed strength at 28 days. It is to propose an efficient steam curing condition for high strength concrete in the precast method.

  • For water barrier and reinforcing grout in soft ground, the verification of durability was conducted over the initial and long-term ages under various curing conditions. The grout was made of water glass system, fast-hardening mineral (FHM) system, and acrylic polymer system. There were three types of curing conditions that were tab water curing, artificial seawater curing, and atmospheric curing. And the various tests were performed for each sample by age, uniaxial compressive strength, length change, and weight change. As artificial seawater, MgCl2 and MgSO4 aqueous solutions were prepared and used, respectively. As the test results, the fast-hardening mineral system and acrylic polymer system were cured stably without significant change in durability in tap water and artificial sea water, whereas water glass system showed a very rapid drop in durability under artificial sea water conditions compared to tap water. In atmospheric curing conditions, durability is lowered compared to water curing in all cases, and in particular, the weight loss in the FHM system and water glass system is about 62% and 60%, respectively, resulting in a significant decrease in durability.

  • Material properties of geopolymer, whose the reaction is very complicated, have been influenced by chemical compositions and particle size distributions of fly ash, concentrations and types of alkali-activators and curing conditions such as temperatures and time. In this research, experiments with several variables such as curing temperatures, preset prior to the high temperature curing and high temperatures have been conducted in order to evaluate to investigate effects on the compressive strengths of geopolymer caused by curing condition. Experiment results were evaluated with compressive strengths and micro-structures such as SEM and MIP of geopolymer pastes. As a result, as higher curing temperature or longer preset time were applied to the pastes, higher compressive strengths were observed. However, compressive strengths of geopolymer pastes declined due to increases in macropores (>50 nm) under high temperatures elapsed after 24 hours. In this sense, it can be considered that strengths and microstructures of geopolymers depends on curing temperature and time.

  • The use of high-strength concrete in construction have been increasing steadily. However, high-strength concrete has a low water-binder ratio, and the problems such as cracks due to hydration heat and shrinkage during the hydration process at the early age. Recently, as a method to reduce the shrinkage of concrete, study of internal curing has carried out according to increasing about interest about it. In this study, the effect of compressive strength on the curing condition(drying, moist, water) was investigated by using artificial lightweight aggregate(LWA) in high strength and high volume mortar. As a result of autogenous shrinkage, the effect of shrinkage reduction was enhanced depending on the increasing of LWA replacement. According to the curing condition, the results of compressive strength showed the different trend. The compressive strength has increased on the drying and moisture condition and decreased on the water condition.

  • The purpose of this study is evaluating the characteristics of tensile strength of UHPC and examining tensile performance of notched specimens by direct tensile test. For test variables, 120, 150, and 180MPa of target design standard strength were aimed at. With general water curing and $90^{\circ}C$ high temperature steam as curing conditions, the properties were reviewed. Overall, it was represented that the specimens of notch-type direct tensile strength concrete was effective in inducing central cracks compared with existing direct tension specimens. Through this, it was judged that data construction with high reliability was possible. Above all, in a graph of direct tensile strength and strain, in the case of steam curing at high temperature, there was great difference of initial tensile strength compared with water curing. As passing of ages, an aspect that the difference gradually decreased was shown. Maximum tensile strength was found to increase steadily with increasing age for all target design strengths in water curing, in the case of steam curing, the tendency to increase significantly due to the initial strength development effect at 7 days of age. The initial crack strength increases with age in case of underwater curing, in the case of steam curing, it was higher than that of water curing in 7 days, while the strength of 28 days was lowered. In this part, it is considered necessary to examine the arrangement condition of the steel fiber.

  • The changes in the resistance to chloride ingress of concrete using a ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS) according to curing conditions were examined. The curing conditions were divided in air-dry curing and under-water curing. Three concrete mixures with the GGBFS replacement ratio of 0%(control), 30%, and 60% were prepared. For tests, evaluations of concrete compressive strength, and chloride ion diffusion coefficient were performed. As the GGBFS replacement ratio increased, the concrete compressive strength of the in air-dry cured specimens decreased compared to under-water cured specimens. When the chloride ion diffusion coefficient was measured, the chloride ion diffusion coefficient decreased as the GGBFS replacement ratio increased. However, the diffusion coefficient of the in air-dry cured specimen was increased up to 111% compared with the under-water cured specimen.

  • The pulished works on Accelerated Curing Effect were generally performed around from 1960 to 1970th century for 18 to 24 hours - total curing periods. It is not possible to define the effect of temperature rise because those results were obtaine mainly by using the manually operated steam-curing tank. Thus, it may not be available to apply those data immediately on the domestic PC wall production line. The testing specimens were made from the standard mix proportion according to those of domestic PC factories to establish a basic data for the Accelerated Curing Effect. The experimental tests were conducted according to the conditions of each sub-curing periods. By comparing the results of compression tests on de-molded and 28-day water-curing specimens, we find that the most effective curing condition to obtain more than the required design strength after 28 day of water curing may be as follows: the presteaming period does not affect seriously and less than$30^{circ}C/hr$- the rate of temperature rise andless than $82^{circ}C$ - maximum temperature are necessary. It seems that post-curing procedure is very important factor to increase the effect of accelerated curing.

  • The purpose of this study was to experimentally investigate the effects of curing methods on the compressive strength and tensile behavior of alkali-activated slag-based fiber-reinforced composite with a water-to-binder ratio of 15%. Three kinds of mixtures according to the curing conditions were prepared and compressive strength and tension tests were performed. Test results showed that the compressive strength and the first cracking strength of composites decreased when high temperature curing and air curing were adopted, while tensile strain capacity of composites increased. It was also observed that crack spacing and crack width of composites decreased by applying high temperature and air curing.
