Two naturalized allien species are reported from Jeju Island: Papaver setigerium collected from the ground along the road in lowland Veronica serpyllifolia collected from the roadside and ranches on alt. 400-800 m. P. setigerium is similar to P. somniferum, but different from the latter by plant height of 30-70 cm, shorter discoid stigma than fruit in diameter, somewhat sparsely bristly on stems, leaves and calyxes. V. serpyllifolia is similar to V. tenella in morphology, but different from the latter by short plant height, petiolated leaves on lower stem and serrated leaf margins.

The accumulation of benzophenanthridine alkaloids, sanguinarine, chelerythrine, chelirubine and macarpine occurred in suspension cultures of Eschscholtzia californica. To increase alkaloid production, feeding experiments with the biosynthetic precursors, tyrosine, tyramine, L-dopa, dopamine with and without elicitation were studied. In feeding experiments with various precursors, the total alkaloid production was slightly increased. The precursor feeding with elicitation, however, increased total alkaloid production several times.

The productivity of alkaloid in the airlift fermentor operation was less than that of suspension coltures of Eschscholtzia californica cells in the shake flask. To overcome the productivity reduction, a gas recycle airlift fermentor was developed because the gas-stripping in normal airlift fermentor was believed to play a significant role for productivity reduction. The alkaloid content in the gas recycle system with Eschscholtzia californica suspension cells was 2.7 times higher than that of normal airlift fermentor. The productivity of alkaloids and $CO_2$ concentration were affected by the volume of gas reservoir in the gas recycle airlift fermentor.

This experiment was performed in order to research the effects of moxibustion on peripheral circulation. The results were as follows : 1. Distribustion of sex: male 5 cases, female 15 cases 2. Distribustion of age: 20s case, 30s 1 case, 40s 4 cases, 50s 7cases, 60s 6 cases, 70s 1 case. 3. After moxibustion, there were no changes in 4cases but 16cases were improved in peripheral blood circulation.

Effects of temperature, pH, light-and-dark and degree of oxygen supply on germination of Papaver somniferum L. seeds were investigated. The optimum temperature of the germination was 2$0^{\circ}C$, but the germination was decreased as temperatures changed to the upper and lower. The largest elongation of both radicle and hypocotyl also occurred at 2$0^{\circ}C$. The best germination occurred at pH 7 but this decreased suddenly the above and below of that pH value. Although no effect of light-and-dark on the germination was, this was restricted under limited. oxyten supply in terms of underwater germination as compared with abovewater one.

Effects of dithane flowable and dithane M-45 on the control of opium poppy downy mildew were examined under field conditions. Application of these two fungicides significantly reduced the disease and increased latex yield, compared to other non-systemic fungicides.
