  • In the conventional thermograph systems, expensive infrared lens systems are usually used for accomodating infrared beams to high speed optical scanners. In this study, a cheap focussing mirror with a two dimensional scanner are used for the development of medical infrared thermograph system in which high speed imaging is not critically required. The infrared thermograph system can be used for two dimensional imaging of human skin temperature by measuring the amount of infrared lights radiating from it. It has been experimentally proven that the accuracy of temperature measurements using the developed system is under 0.1$^{\circ}C$ with image matrix size of 256${\times}$240, and imaging time of 4 seconds.

  • Computations of the directional transfer of water vapor over Osan are made for seasonal and vertical distributions of the water vapor transfer, based on aerological data during the period from 1972 to 1981. The results show that annual total value of water vapor amounts to 1812 g/cm·sec. The largest transfer occurs in summer and in eastward with 53 percent of the annual total. It is also of interest that the maximum values of water vapor transfer appear to be in the layer between the 800mb and 600mb level in winter and between the 900mb and 800mb levels in summer. The horizontal divergences of water vapor transfer for two months of January and July 1979, using aerological data observed at Osan, Kwangju and Pohang are also calculated and the results are briefly discussed.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze whether SMEs' technological capabilities and international marketing capabilities affect the export performance of the SMEs and to empirically test the moderating effect of the CEO's risk propensity on such a relationship. We obtained data from 190 SMEs located in Gwangju and Jeonnam Province in Korea through survey and performed a regression analysis for hypothesis testing based on these data. As a result of the analysis, it was found that SMEs' technological capabilities and international marketing capabilities had a significantly positive (+) effect on export performance, respectively. Also, the CEO's risk propensity was found to reinforce the relationship between technical competence and export performance, and the relationship between marketing capabilities and export performance was also found to be strengthened in the positive (+) direction. These results suggest that it is necessary for SMEs to continuously develop technological capabilities and international marketing capabilities to achieve successful export performance in overseas markets. Also, the CEO's propensity to promote these relationships may be important.

  • The spatial and temporal variations of aerosol optical depth (AOD) over Northeast Asia regions have special importance in the aerosol research for estimation of aerosol radiative forcing parameters and climate change. Aerosol optical and physical properties (AOD and ${\AA}$ngstrom parameter) have been investigated by using Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) and Total Ozone Mapping Spectrometer (TOMS) Aerosol Index (AI) to estimate aerosol characteristics over the study region during 2001. Additionally, aerosol characteristics over the Korean peninsular during Aerosol Characteristic Experiment in Asia (ACE-Asia) Intensive Observation Period (IOP) have been investigated by using satellite observations. The results showed that the daily-observed aerosol data indicate seasonal variations with relatively higher aerosol loading in the spring and very low during the winter. The typical Asian dust case showed higher AOD (>0.7) with lower Angstrom exponent (<0.5) and higher AI (>0.5) that is mainly due to the composition of coarse particles in the springtime. Mean AOD for 2001 at 4 different places showed 0.65$\pm$0.37 at Beijing, 0.31$\pm$0.19 at Gosan, 0.54$\pm$0.26 at Seoul, and 0.38$\pm$0.19 at Kwangju, respectively. An interesting result was found in the present study that polluted aerosol events with small size dominated-aerosol loading around the Korean peninsular are sometimes observed. The origin of these polluted aerosols was thought to East China. Aerosol distribution from satellite images and trajectory results shows the proof of aerosol transport. Therefore, aerosol monitoring using satellite data is very useful.
