시간이 지날수록 처리해야 하는 정보가 점점 늘어나고 있어서 각 분야에서는 온톨로지를 구축하여 그것을 기반으로 보다 정확한 결과를 얻으려는 시도를 하고 있다. 한의학 분야에서도 온톨로지를 이용한 약재 정보 관리를 시도하고 있다. 하지만 한의학 약재 온톨로지에서는 약재 사이의 연관성 파악이 중요하지만, 기존의 검색은 키워드 기반의 검색으로 약재 사이의 연관성을 확인하게 어려움이 있다. 온톨로지의 구조적 내용을 파악하기 위한 기존의 온톨로지 뷰어들이 존재하지만 약재 온톨로지가 가지는 계층구조 위주의 탐색이 어렵고, 다양한 속성이 속성에 관계없이 그래프 상에 고르게 분포하기 때문에 속성에 따른 약재의 구분이 어렵다는 문제점이 존재한다. 따라서 기존의 뷰어를 수정 및 보완하여 한의학 약재 온톨로지에서 계층구조 파악 및 속성 별 약재 분류를 파악할 수 있는 뷰어를 개발하였다. 이러한 뷰어시스템을 통해 향후 한의학 전반적인 분야의 자원을 단계별로 체계화하여 관리함으로써 사용자 중심의 통합되고 현대화된 전통 의학 정보의 서비스의 기초시스템으로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

We propose a mash-up system for searching herb, which can search the herbal information in oriental medicine fields using the various Open APIs. We in particular developed and opened two Open APIs which enable to search papers and projects in oriental medicine fields with the general Open APIs. These Open APIs can share and provide the expert knowledge in oriental medicine fields. The information for a herb in oriental medicine fields has various names and descriptions according to their sources unlike other fields. Thus, it is hard to get the results using one or two keywords such as the general search engines. To solve this problem, we in this paper propose a way to provide the more exact and extensive search results using the herb ontology with one hundred herbal information in oriental medicine fields.

Tim Berners-Lee가 웹을 만든 이후 인터넷은 정보유통에 혁명적인 변화를 가져왔다. 이들 변화중 한가지는 개인이 접촉할 수 있는 정보의 양은 무한이 많아지게 되었다는 것이다. 이렇게 많아진 데이터에서 사용자들이 원하는 지식 정보를 정확하고 빠르게 검색하는 것이 중요한 이슈로 부각되었다. 그 해결책의 일환으로 시맨틱 웹(Semantic Web)이 많은 주목을 받고 있는데 이는 웹 정보에 잘 정의된 "의미 정보"를 부여하고 자동화 에이전트나 검색 엔진 등과 같은 소프트웨어들이 이용하게 한 것이다. 한국 한의학 연구원에서 운영하고 있는 한의학 지식 정보자원 중 약재들에 관한 데이터도 그 수에 있어서 매해 증가하고 있다. 따라서 사용자들에게 정확한 정보를 제공해주기 위해 기존의 검색 시스템에 시맨틱 웹을 사용하였다. 시맨틱 웹의 핵심 기술인 온톨로지를 사용하여 데이터를 구축하고 관리하는 시스템을 개발함으로써 사용자가 원하는 정보를 정확하게 제공하면서 또한 한의학 지식 자체를 전달할 수 있게 되었다. 뿐만 아니라 자원의 현대화는 물론 고급화된 자원의 효율적 가치 활용도를 높일 수 있다.

We in this paper have constructed herb and formula ontologies. Herb instances and formula instances can be distinguished by nature, used part, effect, disease pattern, symptom, and formula and constituent herb, dosage, effect, disease pattern, symptom, and medical book, respectively. The knowledge for herbs and formulas in ontology is formalized with the distinguishable elements and their relations. Based on the herb and formula ontologies, we propose the three reasoning rules as follows: In herb ontology, the relation between herb and disease can be reasoned if there are the relation between herb and effect, and effect and disease. In formula ontology, there are two reasoning rules. First, if each constituent herb, dosage, effect, disease pattern, and symptom of two formulas is same, it can be reasoned that two formulas are same though the medical books of the formulas are different. Second, if each constituent herb and dosage is same in two formula, it can be reasoned that each formula has all of effects, disease patterns, and symptoms of formulas. In future study, we study other ontologies such as disease ontology with respect to Korean Medicine and define the reasoning rules about the ontologies.
