  • Tetrahydrotricyclopentadiene(below THTCPD) isomer is a good candidate materials for the high performance liquid fuel component because of its high density and heat of combustion value. The object of this study was to find out the proper reaction condition to improve the fluidity of THTCPD which is solid state at room temperature. Therefore, we have carried out isomerization reactions using aluminum chloride in the varying reaction condition such as reaction temperature and solvents. The results showed that when using aluminum chloride catalyst, THTCPD isomerization reaction was more active in the polar halogenated reaction media such as dichloromethane(methylene chloride: MC), 1,2-dichloroethane(ethylene chloride: EC) and chloroform than in non-polar hydrocarbon media such as n-Hexnae and toluene and was effected by reaction temperature variation.

  • Tetrahydrotricyclopentadiene(below THTCPD) isomer is a good candidate for the high performance liquid fuel component because of high density and heat of combustion value. But it has bad fluidity. The object of this study was to find out the optimal reaction condition to improve the fluidity of THTCPD because initial reactant is solid state, So we have carried out isomerization reactions using aluminum chloride catalyst under varying the reaction condition such as reaction temperature and reaction solvents. The results showed that when using aluminum chloride catalyst, isomerization reaction was more active in dichloromethane(methylene chloride: MC), 1,2-dichloroethane(ethylene chloride: EC) and chloroform than n-hexnae and toluene and was effected by reaction temperature.

  • The study on the isomerization reaction of endo-tetrahydrodicyclopentadiene and endo-tetrahydrodi(methylcyclopentadiene) using heteropolyacid catalyst was carried out. Exo compound was prepared from endo compound through isomerization reaction. To improve the problem of aluminum chloride as an isomerization catalyst, application of heteropolyacid was attempted. In use of Keggin type heteropolyacid, catalytic activity was extremely high at cesium substitution instead of 2.5 hydrogen atoms of $H_3PW_{12}O_{40}$. Using the cesium substituted heteropolyacid, isomerization reaction rate was faster than aluminum chloride and the effect of reaction temperature and times on reactivities were compared in isomerization of tetrahydrodicyclopentadiene and tetrahydrodi(methylcyclopentadiene).

  • In this study, $(n-BuCp)_2ZrCl_2$, was supported on $SiO_2/MgCl_2$ binary support. Before supporting the catalyst, the $SiO_2/MgCl_2$ binary support was surface treated with three different alkyl aluminum compound, namely trimethylaluminum, triethylaluminum, and ethylaluminum sesquichloride. The synthesized surface-treated $SiO_2/MgCl_2$ supported metallocene catalysts were used for the copolymerization of ethylene and 1-hexene. Their catalytic properties and performances were analyzed through BET, XPS analysis, ICP-AES analysis, and FE-SEM. While the resulting copolymers were analyzed through DSC analysis, GPC analysis, 13C-NMR analysis, and FE-SEM. The analysis of synthesized surface-treated $SiO_2/MgCl_2$ supported metallocene catalysts showed that the Zr content of these catalysts is relatively lower compared to that of the catalyst supported on $SiO_2$. This could be attributed to the reduction in the surface area of $SiO_2$ due to the presence of recrystallized $MgCl_2$ and alkyl aluminum. Furthermore, they exhibited a better copolymerization activity compared to that of $SiO_2$ supported catalyst, particularly the EASC-surface treated binary support, which has the highest activity of 1.9 kg PE/($mmol-Zr^*hr$) because EASC acts as a strong Lewis acid. It could also be observed that the larger the ligand of alkyl aluminum used, the rougher the particle surface of the resulting polymer.

  • This study evaluated the efficacy of Ti-based coagulants on phosphorus (P) removal from municipal wastewater and compared them with Al-based coagulants. Jar test experiments were performed at various chemical doses and OH/Ti molar ratio (B value). The higher the intial phosphate ($PO_4-P$) concentration, the lower the [Ti]/[P] to reach a residual concentration below 0.2 mg P/L. Removal efficiencies of total phosphorus increased with an increased coagulant dose but decreased after the efficiencies reached their maximum value regardless of coagulant or B value. On the other hand, $PO_4-P$ removal showed an increasing trend with an increased coagulant dose, reaching the plateau value under large coagulant dose conditions for both Ti- and Al-based coagulants regardless of B value. The chemical dose of Ti-based coagulants was approximately twice higher than that of Al-based coagulants with the same P-removal efficiency. The coagulation efficiency was influenced by different B values.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of treadmill exercise treadmill exercise (TE) and environmental enrichment (EE) interventions on cognitive function, muscle function, and the expression of tight junction proteins in an Alzheimer's disease (AD) animal model. To create the AD animal model, aluminum chloride (AlCl3) was administered for 90 days (40mg/kg/day), while simultaneously exposing the animals to TE (10-12m/min, 40-60min/day) or EE. The results showed that cognitive impairment and muscle dysfunction induced by AlCl3 administration were alleviated by TE and EE. Furthermore, TE and EE reduced the increased expression of β-amyloid(Aβ), alpha-synuclein, and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) proteins observed in AD pathology. Additionally, TE and EE significantly increased the expression of decreased adhesive adjacent proteins (Occludin, Claudin-5, and ZO-1) induced by AlCl3 administration. Lastly, correlation analysis between Aβ protein and tight junction proteins showed negative correlations (Occludin: r=-0.853, p=0.001; Claudin-5: r=-0.352, p=0.915; ZO-1: r=-0.424, p=0.0390). In conclusion, TE or EE interventions are considered effective exercise methods that partially alleviate pathological features of AD, improving cognitive and muscle function.
