항공기용 알루미늄부품의 단조 공정설계연구 (Forging Process Design of Aluminium Alloys for Aircraft Parts)

  • Al ally 7050 has been developed for higher strength and improved property against stress-corrosion cracking. Since the use of this alloy becomes more important for forged aircraft structural components. $\phi$ 65mm extruded billet has been forged for a highly-stressed aircraft parts. After forging processing and heat treatment, the forged parts showed undesirable microstructure caused by severe local grain coarsening at the surface layer and heavily-localized metal flow, the analysis of resulted in degraded mechanical properties. The above results have been compared to simulation by using the DEFORM-3D and those showed the thermomechamical processing must be optimized in terms of forging temperature, strain rate and deformation amount. To prevent the grain coarsening at the surface layer $\varepsilon$ heavily-localized grain flows.

多孔性 금속의 소성역학

  • 소결 금속(sintered metal)은 기공(pore)의 존재로 성형에 있어서 체적변화를 유발하므로 이제까지 사용되어오던 체적변화를 유발하므로 이제까지 사용되어오던 일반 소성이론(conventional plasticity theory)은 적용할 수 없기 때문에 소결금속에 대한 소성이론을 정립해 오고 있다. 그 발달 과정을 보면 미국과 일본에서 각각 독자적인 방법으로 진행되었는데 미국에서는 Kuhn씨가 포아숀 비(.nu.)를 정의하여 실험적으로 구하고 이것을 기초로 하여 항복조건을 정립하고 응력과 변형도율과의 관계를 유도해 냄과 동시에 알루미늄 분말 소결원판 단조에 적용하여 그 실용성을 예시하였다. 한편 일본에서는 교오토오 대학의 Shima, Oyane등이 연구 정립한 것으로서 다공정 금속과 그 본금속의 항복 응력비와 정수압의 항복 응력에 대한 영향도를 정의하여 실험을 통하여 결정한 다음 항복조건을 만들고 이로부터 응력과 변형율과의 관계, 등가 변형율을 유도하였고 이를 폐금형 압축시험에 적용하였다.

7XXX계 알루미늄합금 단조재의 파괴인성 개선 (Improvement of Fracture Toughness in 7XXX Series Aluminum Alloy Forings)

  • The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of impurity level and fabrication processes on the strength, impact and fracture toughness of 7075, 7050 and 7175 aluminum alloy forgings. A specially processed 7175S-T74 aluminum forgings was superior to a conventionally processed 7075-T73, 7050-T74 and 7175-T74 aluminum forgings in both strength and toughness. The reduction of impurity level of iron and silicon has significantly diminished the size and volume fraction of second phase particles such as $Al_7Cu_2Fe$ and $Mg_2Si$. A further reduction of the amount of second phase particles has been observed by applying a special fabrication process. This phenomena result from the application of intermediate soaking at higher temperature and more sufficiant hot working temperature than that of a conventional processing.

  • The semi-solid materials(SSMs) fabricated under electric-magnetic stirring condition are necessary to be applicated in the thixoforging process. The optimal reheating conditions to thixoforging process were investigated with changing the reheating time, holding time, reheating temperatures, capacity, and adiabatic material size. In the case of solid fraction fs=50%, the microstructure of SSM (specimen size:d76X 190) at the condition of the first reheating time 4min, holding time lrnin and reheating temperature 350%, the second reheating time 3min, holding time 3min and reheating temperature 575C, the thlrd reheating time lmin, holding time 2min and reheating temperature 584'C, capacity Q=8.398KW, and adiabatic material size 53mm is obtained with globular microstructure and finest.

소화기용 7050 Al합금소재의 적용성 개발 (Application development of 7050Al alloy in small arms.)

  • The Substitution development of 7075-T6 Al alloy to 7050-T74 Al alloy in small arms to improve anti-stress corrosion cracking was processed along with mass productivity consideration. To meet 7050 Al alloy material characteristics Indirect extrusion type was adopted and local heating above recrystalization temperature in forging process had to be avoided. The T74 aging treatment was 12$0^{\circ}C$ -6hrs and 175$^{\circ}C$ -12hrs and was appropriate for both machanical and anti-cohesion properties. In accessment of field application test 7050Al alloy made parts of small arms showed equivalent or better performance than 7075 Al alloy.

  • In this study, a relationship between hardness and electrical conductivity for an Al-Si aluminum alloy, forged after extruded, is investigated. Microvickers hardness is measured and compared with its corresponding electrical conductivity obtained by the eddy current test. It is found that a distinct relationship between the hardness and the electrical conductivity exists for the material. Using the relationship, the hardness of forging is predicted from the electrical conductivity obtained by eddy current test and the result is used to evaluate the condition of heat treatment.

  • The behaviour of alloys in the semi-solid state strongly depends on the imposed stress stage and on the morphology of the phase which can vary from dendritic to globular. To optimal net shape forging of semi-solid materials, it is important to investigate for material behaviour for variation of strain rate. Therefore, to investigate the effect of compression speed on deformation of aluminum alloy with globular microstructure, the compression test for semi-solid aluminum alloy with controlled solid fraction is perform by material test system which is attracted with furance. The behavior of semi-solid aluminum alloy were discussed for the various solid fraction and die speed. The material constants in stress-strain were are also proposed.

  • Microstructures according to experimental conditions (pouring temperature, stirring current and stirring time) and hardness according to aging time were investigated for A356 cast aluminum alloy and 7075 wrought aluminum alloy. In pouring temperature control, grains became larger and non-uniform at high temperature, however dendritic shapes were shown at lower temperature. In stirring current control, dendritic grains were not destroyed enough at lower current, however fine grains were agglomerated at higher current. And, in stirring time control, grains were more globular but grew larger and larger with the stirring time increasing.

  • The mechanical properties of Al 6061 excluded bar were deformed in high temperature with the variable deformation conditions and characterized by the tensile test. Three types of different strain rate were experimentally performed by using hydraulic press, crank press and hammer and two types of the nominal strain 0.5 and 0.8 were achieved. To decide optimum forging process, the relationship among the strain rate, strain and mechanical properties was explained by analyzing the microstructures of the forged and heat heated parts. The strength was deeply related with the strain rate due to the dynamic recrystallization (DRX) in hot forging, and the best forging condition was presented in Al 6061 alloy.

  • The metal forming processes of aluminum alloy wheel forging at elevated temperature are analyzed by the finite element method. A coupled thermo-mechanical model for analysis of plastic deformation and geat transfer is adapted in the finite element formulation. In order to consider the strain-rate effects on material properties and the flow stress dependence on temperatures, rigid-viscoplasticity is introduced in this formation. In this paper, several process conditions were applied to the dimulation such as die speed, rib thickness, and depth of die cavity. Simulation results are compared, and discussed with each case. Metal flow, die pressure distributions, temperature distributions, velocity fields and forging loads are summarized as basic data for process design and selection of a proper press equipment.
