Rock Slope Stability Analysis in Boeun Region Considering Properties of Discontinuities (불연속면의 특성은 고려한 보은지역 암반사면 안정성해석)

  • The study area. Boeun-eup Boeun-kun, belongs to Ogchon metamorphic belt which is highly metamorphosed and consisted of complex geologic formations. Even though the geological structures and formations are complex and metamorphosed, the geological investigation and consideration are not enough and consequently the plane failure is occurred in the rock slope which was under construction on 1 : 0.5 gradient. This area is assessed as unstable and additional failure is possible by the discontinuity with same direction of failure surface. Therefore, the authors evaluate the slope stability using various analysis methods such as SMR, stereographic projection method, and the limit equilibrium analysis. In order to analyze stress redistribution and nonlinear displacement behavior caused by stress release, the authors conduct numerical analysis with UDEC and then the behavior of rock mass is analyzed after reinforcements are applied.

  • To optimize and limit the axial length of baffle in KSR-III engine, stability rating tests using pulse gun as one of artificial disturbance devices have been done. Decay time and other parameters for the evaluation of stabilization ability of engine to external perturbation have been analyzed to quantify stabilization capacity of engine, in other words, dynamic stability margin. If baffle does not cover flame zone enough which can be considered as collision region of injector, it wasn't be able to suppress external perturbation sufficiently. The limit of combustion stability margin of engine is assumed to be 50 mm length baffle.

Analytical Investigation of the Influence of Rotor Flap Dynamics on Helicopter Flight Control System Feedback Gain Limit (헬리콥터 비행 제어시스템의 피드백 제어 이득 한계에 대한 로터 플랩 동역학의 영향성 분석)

  • The use of a high gain flight control system to achieve high bandwidth performance increase the instability of a helicopter. To investigate these phenomena numerically, high fidelity EC155B1 helicopter model and simplified flight control system that include actuator, digital processor and noise rejection filter was developed. A study conducts an analytical investigation of roll axis stability of the helicopter model as feedback gain increases. And this study analyzes roll-rate and roll-attitude feedback gains limited by rotor flap mode. The results indicate that the phase delays caused by the filter can severely limit the usable values of the roll-rate and roll-attitude feedback gains.

  • Supersonic jet fighter aircraft must have been guaranteed appropriate for controllability and stability in HAoA(High Angle of Attack) region. Limit value of aircraft enter the deep stall at HAoA is related to problem of aircraft configuration design. But, In order to guarantee the aircraft safety in HAoA, control law is designed using digital Fly-By-Wire flight control system in modern versions of supersonic jet fighter aircraft. Also, In order to recovery if aircraft enter the deep stall or spin, anti-spin control law and MPO(Manual Pitch Override) mode is designed. AoA limiter and MPO is designed in longitudinal axis and HAoA departure prevention logic, roll command limiter, rudder fader and anti-spin logic is designed in lateral-directional axis. In this paper, we introduce the T-50 HAoA flight control law and propose that aircraft stability and adequate of these control law from HAoA flight test.

  • 하천시설물 설계, 시공 및 관리에 있어서 구성재료의 보호능력에 따라 예상하지 못한 조건에서 쉽게 파손될 수 있다. 이러한 영향은 하천환경의 변화를 야기시킬 수 있다. 제방 표면 재료는 제외 비탈면의 침식 방지를 목적으로 사용되는 재료로 주로 호안블록. 식생 매트, 사석, 돌망태, 식생등이 주로 사용되고 있다. 국내에서는 2000년대 이전에는 자연 흙사면의 식생, 돌망태, 단순 돌기형 콘크리트 블록 등이 주로 사용되었으며 2000년대 이후에는 하천환경을 고려하여 식생의 생장이 가능한 친환경 호안 블록 및 식생 매트의 적용이 일반적으로 시공되고 있다. 제방의 수리적 설계를 위해서는 재료 표면의 수리 특성, 즉, 조도계수 및 한계 유속, 한계 소류력이 제시되어야 하는데 이는 실험을 통해서 결정되어야 한다. 때문에 본 연구에서는 자연형 하상재료를 이용하여 바이오 폴리머 첨가시 증가하는 방어능력에 대한 향상도를 평가하는 실험적 평가 방법을 제안하기위해 홍수시 수리조건을 반영하여 상류에서부터 사류까지 다양한 유속범위에 따른 세굴 및 침식에 대한 실험을 진행하였다. 본 연구에서는 자연하천과 유사한 조건의 경사를 가지는 경사수로에서 실험연구를 통해 제방재료의 안정성 평가방법을 개발하였고, 안정성 평가를 위한 실험진행은 기 개발된 바닥응력을 직접측정하는 장치와 PIV시스템을 이용하여 수리특성을 측정하였다.(Park J.H. et al. 2016, Flow Measurment and instrumentation.) 기존 문헌에서 제시되었던 측정 장치를 이용하여 바이오폴리머의 첨가에 유무에 따라 세굴에 대한 방어능력의 향상정도를 측정하고자 세굴 및 침식에 대한 평가 방법을 제시하고 있다.

Exceedance probability of allowable sliding distance of caisson breakwaters in Korea (국내 케이슨 방파제의 허용활동량 초과확률)

  • The expected sliding distance for the lifetime of a caisson breakwater has a limitation to be used as the stability criterion of the breakwater. Since the expected sliding distance is calculated as the mean of simulated sliding distances for the lifetime, there is possibility for the actual sliding distance to exceed the expected sliding distance. To overcome this problem, the exceedance probability of the allowable sliding distance is used to assess the stability of sliding. Latin Hypercube sampling and Crude Monte Carlo simulation were used to calculate the exceedance probability. The doubly-truncated normal distribution was considered to complement the physical disadvantage of the normal distribution as the random variable distribution. In the case of using the normal distribution, the cross-sections of Okgye, Hwasun, and Donghae NI before reinforcement were found to be unstable in all the limit states. On the other hand, when applying the doubly-truncated normal distribution, the cross-sections of Hwasun and Donghae NI before reinforcement were evaluated to be unstable in the repairable limit state and all the limit states, respectively. Finally, the shortcoming of the expected sliding distance as the stability criterion was investigated, and we reasonably assessed the stability of sliding of caissons by using the exceedance probability of allowable sliding distance for the caisson breakwaters in Korea.

Effects of Postural Balance at Game-based Visual Feedback Training of the Elderly (고령자의 게임기반 시각피드백 훈련에 따른 자세 균형 효과)

  • In this paper, we analyzed the effects of game-based visual feedback training on postural balance control in young adults and older adults. We provided postural balance training by 23 young adults and 14 older adults and for four weeks in fifth minute a day and three days a week using IBalance(Cybermedic Inc., Korea). We evaluated the ability of postural balance using balance SD(Biodex, medicalscience Inc., USA) for the validation of game contents based on visual feedback training program. The results showed that postural stability and limits of stability of young adults and older adults were improved significantly before and after the training(p<0.05). Thus, the games of postural balance encouraged anterior, posterior, medial, lateral and multidirectional weight shifting regarding postural balance. Our study indicates that postural balance training of visual feedback based game could be adapted for improving postural balance. Moreover, we could develope of game contents for individuals and various ages for effective application of this game-based visual feedback training.

Slope Stability Analysis under Rainfall Condition by Using Multiple Slip Surfaces (다중 파괴면을 이용한 강우시 사면의 안정성 해석)

  • Slope failure triggered by rainfall produces severe effects on the serviceability and stability of railway, Therefore, slope stability problem is one of the major concerns on the operation of railway. In this study, the rainfall conditions triggering slopes failure adjacent to railroads are investigated and the numerical analysis approach in consideration of infiltration and limit equilibrium method based upon multiple slip surfaces are proposed. The rainfall conditions triggering slope failure are as follow: cumulative rainfall is in the range of 150~500 mm, and duration is from 3 to 24 hours. Base upon the rainfall conditions, infiltration analysis and limit equilibrium method for infinite slope condition are carried out. The depth of infinite slope is assumed as 2 m and the multiple slip surfaces modeled with 16.7 cm interval from the bottom slip surface located at the 2 m depth. The assumed bottom slip surface is the location at which factor of safety is converging. The proposed approach shows more reasonable results than the results from the general codes assuming water table at slope surface. In addition, three dimensional plot of cumulative rainfall, rainfall duration, and factor of safety shows that slope stability analysis in consideration of rainfalll must account for cumulative rainfall (rainfall duration).

  • An assesment technique for the quantitative evaluation of tunnel safety during tunnel excavation was newly proposed in this study using displacement measurements. First of all, field measurement guidelines used at tunnel construction sites in Korea and other countries were investigated. It was found out that the criteria of the guidelines were not clear and varied depending on the construction sites. The practical use of field measurement data for the evaluation of tunnel safety was very limited due to uncertainties of the guidelines related to the interpretation of measured data during the excavation. Critical strain concept is introduced in this study for the assesment of tunnel safety during the tunnel excavation. Moreover, the characteristics of tunnel displacements caused by the tunnel excavation were investigated in detail in order to investigate the practical application of the critical strain concept. The total tunnel displacements can be subdivided into three parts: displacements occurring ahead of tunnel face, displacements occurring prior to measurements, and displacements occurring after the installation of instruments. The characteristic of each portion of displacements is analysed in this study. Finally, a general method on the use of the displacement measurement data for the critical strain concept was suggested in the concrete manner, considering the field measurement practice in Korea.

On the Stability and Performance Limits of the Force Reflecting Haptic Manipulator (가상반발력을 생성하는 햅틱장비의 안정성과 성능한계에 관한 연구)

  • The stability and theoretical performance limits of the feedback controlled force reflecting haptic manipulator have been discussed. All the virtual environment which interact physically with the haptic system have its own stable performance limit. Three different realization of the interfaces have been compared using the driving point admittance. The haptic system which is separated from the human hand or finger is superior to its stable interaction provided that there is a means to apply a direct damping between the haptic manipulator and the human finger Electro-magnetic force is used for its digital implementation of the simple separated type haptic device. The stable limits of a virtual wall is calculated and experimental results show that there is performance limits in this implementation.
