This study aimed to examine academic researches about apartment unit plans and consumer's opinions, and then to analyze the corelationship between the two, thus identifying the differences between the reality of housing market and consumers' opinionsl. On the analysis of the apartment unit plans($66m^2{\sim}164m^2$) provided by top 8 construction companies from March 2004 to December 2008. The remarkable change compared to existing apartments is an increase in the number of bays. This displays construction companies are responding to consumer' opinions actively. However, there were spaces which did not or passively reflect consumer's opinions enough. Especially, front side allocation of bedrooms beside master bedroom, kitchen/dining room and L-D-K & LD-K installation of a door between entrance and a living room. These are opinions that companies need to make efforts to reflect on apartment unit plans as much as possible.

Apartments, having advantages of providing high density in limited area, are now booming in these days in Korea. However, most of the apartments are monotonus and all alike in the siteplan. As a result, they we in lack of humanity for the Apartment residents. The subject of this study is analysis and development of the site planning and design trends in Apartment Complexes in the official sector. In order to suggest the new planning and Design method, the study has analyzed the Apartment complexes exemplary, that have built in recent 10 years in Seoul districts. As a results a environmentally friendly planning and design in Apartment complexes estates as a new paradigm for environmentally sound sustainable development. Apartment Unit Plans have few Flexibility and Variability in the inner space.

The purpose of this study is to present basic data that can assist on projecting the plans of use of balcony space, by identifying the problems derived from balcony remodelling for the sole purpose of securing practical space, and to further research on the role of balcony space in an apartment. The results of this study revealed a high demand on balcony space, thus the key area of research would be on developing various methods of utilizing such balcony space differing among the different types of available residential space, rather than a standardized extension of balcony space.

The purpose of this study is to review the plan composition characteristics of the super high-rise apartment. 20 cases were selected in Seoul and Kyunggi area that were planned or constructed since 1999, and 10 unit plans were analyzed to review such design characteristics as block type & entry access type, plane figure, opening layout, area distribution and spice composition of unit plan. The result of the study shows that the super high-rise apartment has more variant block types and plane figures compare with the conventional high-rise apartment, and it also has several design characteristics in plane composition such as the increase of the number of the walls with openings, the weakening of the spatial centralization of a living room and the dispersion of rooms with the increase of connection by corridors.

The purpose of this study was to investigate planning components of floor plans demanded by consumers and to analyze their demands and wants that can be reflected in developing apartment units. The study was conducted by using small group workshops, so that the participants were able to share the living experiences drawn from apartment living and also to point out the improvements of current 4-bay floor plans available. The research result indicate the follows ; The protection of privacy and communication have relation to the separation of master zone and other rooms. found seven specific categories in relation to planning components of floor plans . Respondents wanted new rooms that could accomodate various function, separated the private spaces from public space in center.

An attempt is made to illuminate the characteristics of Korean high-rise apartment plans built after the 1990s in Seoul. Unlike the typical slab block plans of the past century, these plans were accommodated in a super-highrise building which normally integrates some portion of commercial areas on the lower floors. Thus, they are much different from the pre-1990s plans, so needs to have different strategy to adapt to the Korean dwellers' domestic requirements. This study reveals the topological patterns that appear in these new plans, and tries to relate these patterns to the old configuration patterns of the slab-type apartment houses. From the analysis, it was found that some important Korean dwellers' characteristics are still preserved, but at the same time, some unprecedented patterns were beginning to be absorbed into the spatial arrangement. At the end, suggestions are made on how this emerging trend of super-high rise can be better understood and evolved to enhance the living quality in a new multi-unit setting.

This study intends to examine the changes found in the unit floor plans of the apartments built in Beijing from 1979 to 2018. For the 3 - bedroom type apartments, 40 unit floor plans were collected, and the changes of integration values of each space were analyzed periodically in four phases. The unit floor plans are analyzed in the context of the Space Syntax Model and compared to the lifestyle and societal changes in China. The results of the study indicate the followings: As time went by, the living room and the dining room were separated from each other with the increasing area of the apartment unit floor plans. The function of the integrated living room was dispersed, and the integration of the living room and the dining room decreased with the change of time. In the third phase, the dining room occupied the center of the unit floor plans with the highest integration value; Chinese people prefer to place the kitchen in the relatively deep place in order to prevent oil and smoke caused by their cooking habits like stir-fry; The privacy of the master bedroom has been strengthened.

Owing to the mass-housing policies of high-density and high-rise, the residential environments in Korea have come to be uniform and monotonous. Nevertheless, the design competitions introduced for th first time in 1980s have played significant roles in developing the fresh ideas and concepts in housing design. It is important to review the ideas played proposed in competitions until now in order to spread them into other housing developments. In this context, this study classified the types of unit plan and analyzed their design characteristics in the proposals of housing design competitions in 1990s.

With the change of family type and diversify of life style, residents need various unit plan in quality. A rate of economically productive women has increased, and generally double-income households will continuously increase in the future. So a research is requested to consider the double-income households's satisfaction for a unit plan based on their life characteristics. The purpose of this study is to find out double-income households's lifestyles, and to search and analyze users' needs for spatial composition according to their lifestyles, and then, embody spatial composition of Apartment Unit plans. The findings are as follows. (1) Housing lifestyles of users living in apartment arc categorized into 5 types: pursuing the trend and personality, pursuing the convenience and leisure, pursuing being domestic, making a livelihood and practicality, the type of unspecification. (2) The type of pursing the trend and individuality requests new plan and a shower bath, the type of pursing the convenience and leisure requests facility with home appliances and likes traveling and sports, the type of making a hearth and home wants a talk with their family and discuss some problem, the type of making a livelihood and practicality requests storage space, the type of unspecification wants a comfortable master bedroom zone. Consequently factors of residental space plan are need for double-income households.

After the Enforcement of Price Deregulation of Apartment, Apartment house get down to originality goods, The Housing Market have reorganized the nucleus by a user, have demanding the development for discriminative unit plan. The purpose of this study is that before and after the Price Decontrol of Apartment take part a variety of unit plan, search for transformation factor and analyze into the tendency of the distinction plan of Housing Goods. Before and after the Price Decontrol of Apartment, Apartment unit have analyzed from 85 $m^2$ till 152 $m^2$ private area; ten corporations of civil construction' unit in Seoul and The national capital region supply apartment, will supply apartment. For selected examples, first, unit plan is normalized from the ratio of front to side wall, bay, a Room' organization and a kind of Room, number, and for examples of unit plan of apartment, the examples were analyzed with respect to change of a Room' organization and the number of a room and the ratio of front wall to side wall for item investigated. Finally, I search out course of transformation tendency of an apartment unit plan after Enforcement of Price Deregulation and analyzed a factor. The results of the study are follows, after Enforcement of Price Deregulation, unit plan of apartment lead to change lay out, to secure each family's privacy, to secure feeling for open hearted, tendency of flexibility.
