Antibacterial activity of lactic acid bacteria against biogenic amine-producing Bacillus spp. isolated from traditional fermented soybean paste (전통 발효 된장으로부터 분리된 바이오제닉 아민 생성 바실러스균에 대한 유산균의 항균 활성)

  • In the present study, biogenic amine-forming Bacillus spp. and bacteriocin-producing lactic acid bacteria (LAB) isolated from Doenjang were generally identified through 16S rRNA gene sequencing, and the physicochemical and microbiological characteristics of cheonggukjang prepared using the isolated strains were investigated. Biogenic amine-producing bacteria from the samples were identified as Bacillus licheniformis DB102, B. subtilis DB203, B. stearothermophilus DB206, B. pumilus DB209, B. subtilis DB310, B. coagulans DB311, B. cereus DB313, B. amyloliquefaciens DB714, B. amylolique-faciens DB915, B. licheniformis DB917, B. cereus DB1019, B. subtilis DB1020, B. megaterium DB1022. The bacteriocin-producing LAB showed antibacterial effect against biogenic amine-producing Bacillus spp. were identified as Lactobacillus plantarum DLA205, L. brevis DLA501, L. fermentum DLA509, L. acidophilus DLA703, and Enterococcus faecalis DLA804. The bacteriocin produced by the LAB significantly decreased the viable numbers and the amine production ability of the biogenic amine-forming Bacillus spp. in a concentration dependent manner. Therefore, the pH, ammonia nitrogen and biogenic amine content of cheonggukjang prepared by mixed culture of the LAB and Bacillus spp. were significantly decreased compared to the control group.

Synthesis of Size Controllable Amine-Functionalized Silica Nanoparticles Based on Biomimetic Polyamine Complex (생체 모방 폴리아민 복합체 기반의 크기 조절이 가능한 아민 기능화 실리카 나노입자의 합성)

  • This study demonstrates a method for synthesis of amine functionalized and easily size controllable silica nanoparticles through biomimetic polyamine complex. First, we generate a polyamine nanocomplex composed of polyallylamine hydrochloride (PAH) and phosphate ion (pi) to synthesize silica nanoparticles. The size of polyamine nanocomplex is reversibly adjusted within the range of about 50 to 300 nm according to the pH conditions. Amine groups of the PAH in the nanocomplex catalyzes the condensation reaction of silicic acid. As a results, silica nanoparticles are synthesized based on nanocomplex in a very short time. Finally, we synthesize silica nanoparticles with various sizes according to the pH conditions. In the process of synthesizing silica nanoparticles, polyamine chains that act as catalysts are incorporated into the inside and surface of the particles, subsequently, amine groups are exposed on the surface of silica nanoparticles. As a results, the synthesis and surface modification of silica nanoparticles are performed simultaneously, and the silica nanoparticles introduced with amine groups can be easily synthesized by adjusting the sizes of the silica nanoparticles. Finally, we demonstrate the synthesis of functional silica nanoparticles in a short time under milder conditions than the conventional synthetic method. Furthermore, this method can be applicable to bioengineering and materials fields.

The effect of thiamin on fetal growth and development in CD-1 mice exposed with mercury for the gestation period (임신 중 수은을 섭취한 CD-1 마우스 태아의 성장발육과 기형발생에 미친 티아민의 효능 평가)

  • Pregnant CD-1 mice were exposed to methylmercury in the drinking water at concentration of 20ppm with subcutaneous treatment of thiaminHCl(vitamin $B_1$) (100mg, 200mg or 300mg/ kg b.w.) or BAL(5.0 mg/kg b.w.) under the alone or combined base at the therapeutic agents from day 6 to 15 of gestation. Fetal growth parameters, including body weight and crown-rump length in the mice exposed to mercury, were reduced as placental weight compared to those in the control group(no treatment). The incidence of dead fetuses/resorption and malformed fetuses(especially cleft palate) was also increased even in the group treated with thrapeutic agents as well as in the mercury only treated group. However, all kinds of alteration indicated above, possibly induced by mercury, reduced/or decreased significantly compared to those of control. A subtle indication of maternal toxicity was noted in most experimental animals as evidenced by decreased water consumption and increased relative liver weight. The present study confirmed that methylmercuric chloride is embrytoxic and teratogenic in CD-1 mice when administered during organogenesis and that thiamin administration may have therapeutic application for the treatment or prevention against of deleterious effects induced by mercury during gestation period.

$CO_2$ Sensing Characteristics of Carbon-nanofibers Based on Effects of Porosity and Amine Functional Group (다공성 및 아민 작용기에 따른 탄소나노섬유의 $CO_2$ 감응특성)

  • Porous carbon nanofibers were prepared as a gas sensor electrode to study the $CO_2$ sensing property based on effects of porosity and introduced amine functional groups. Electrospun fibers were obtained by using electrospinning method with polyacrylonitrile precursor and they were treated by the thermal treatment and chemical activation. Amine functional groups were introduced by the liquid state treatment using diethylenetriamine. The specific surface area increased up to $2000m^2/g$ by the chemical activation. The Introduced amine functional group was identified using FT-IR spectroscopy. $CO_2$ gas sensing property was improved as four folds via introduced amine functional groups on the activated carbon nanofiber. In conclusion, the gas sensing property was improved based on the developed porosity by the chemical activation and the chemical attraction of $CO_2$ gas by introduced functional groups.

Effect of Carbonic Anhydrase on CO2 Absorption in Amine Solutions for CO2 Capture (CO2 포집용 아민 흡수제에서 탄산무수화 효소가 CO2 흡수에 미치는 영향)

  • The effect of carbonic anhydrase on $CO_2$ absorption rates and the heat of reaction were evaluated in various amine solutions for post combustion $CO_2$ capture process. The $CO_2$ absorption rate was analyzed in 30 wt% MEA, AMP, DMEA, MDEA aqueous solutions with and without carbonic anhydrase (250 mg/L) from bovine erythrocyte. $CO_2$ absorption rates were increased in all solutions with carbonic anhydrase. The effect of carbonic anhydrase on absorption rates was more in tertiary amine (DMEA and MDEA) solutions than in primary amine (MEA) and hindered amine (AMP) solutions. The heat of reaction of MEA, DMEA, MDEA aqueous solutions with and without carbonic anhydrase were measured using reaction calorimeter. Carbonic anhydrase decreased the heat of absorption in all solutions. The results suggested that tertiary amines that have the excellent desorption ability were suitable for applying carbonic anhydrase to the post combustion $CO_2$ capture process and the effect of carbonic anhydrase was best in MDEA solution.

HPLC-based Analysis of Biogenic Amines in Aging-Cheese (HPLC를 이용한 숙성치즈로부터 바이오제닉 아민 분석법 개발)

  • Biogenic amines have been used as chemical indicators of fermented foods. So far, several chromatography methods have been developed to detect biogenic amines in foods. However, few methods have identified these compound in domestic cheese. We analyzed the biogenic amines (histamine dihydrochloride, tyramine hydrochloride, ${\beta}$-phenylethylamine hydrochloride, putrescine dihydrochloride, cadaverine, spermidine, tryptamine hydrochloride, ethanolamine hydrochloride and butylamine) in cheese by using HPLC. The calibration curves of the biogenic amines were found to be linear over the concentration range of 10-50 ppm with a correlation coefficient of above 0.99. The limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantitation (LOQ) of the biogenic amines in the given order were 3.7 and 11.3 ppm, 3.4 and 10.4ppm, 3.4 and 10.3 ppm, 4.0 and 12.2 ppm, 3.4 and 10.4 ppm, 3.4 and 10.5 ppm, 3.5 and 10.7 ppm, 4.1 and 12.5 ppm, and 3.4 and 10.4 ppm, respectively. Recovery rates of the biogenic amines in the given order were 112, 104, 93, 108, 91, 102, 101, and 92%, respectively. The findings of this study suggest that HPLC is a suitable method for the determination of biogenic amines, thereby indicating its potential application in the quality control of aging cheese.

  • Contents of dimethylamine (DMA) in fresh fish muscle were analyzed by gaschromatography. DMA contents were in Pseudosciaena manchuria $10.367mg\%$, in Theragra chalcogramma $19.133mg\%$, in Sardinops melanosticta $22.833mg\%$, and in Scomber japonicus $26.300mg,\%$ respectively. Individual amines could not be separated with such a low content.

Effect of Monochloramine and Dimethylamine Concentrations on the NDMA Formation (모노클로라민과 디메틸아민 농도가 NDMA 생성에 미치는 영향)

  • As a disinfection byproduct, N-nitrosodimethylamine(NDMA) formation was studied according to chlorine, nitrogen, and carbon composition related to monochloramine and dimethylamine(DMA) concentrations. The highest NDMA formation was observed when the dimethylamine/monochloramine ratio was close to 1, and the formation was rapidly decreased when the ratio was less or greater than 1. The formation of NDMA increased with increasing chlorine/nitrogen ratio indicating the chlorine is a limiting factor. A rapid disinfection byproduct was formed at 72 hour contact time in this study. As the previous researches, pH was a significant factor for the NDMA formation.

철 프탈로시아닌 유도체에 의한 아민 및 황 화합물의 제거

  • Fe-PC와 Fe-TCPC를 합성하여 암모니아 탈착에 따른 촉매의 특성과 황화합물 및 아민류의 흡착실험을 수행하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1) FT-IR로 분석한 결과, Fe-TCPC는 Fe-PC에 비해 카르복실기의 특성 스펙트럼이 관찰되었고, SEM/EDS로 관찰한 결과 카르복실기의 영향으로 Fe의 비율이 낮고 산소의 량은 높게 나타났으므로 표면에 카르복실기가 존재하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 2) TPD 실험에서 철 프탈로시아닌 유도체는 두 개의 피크가 저온부와 고온부에서 나타나 약산점과 강산점이 존재하고 있음을 확인 할 수 있었으며, 탈착량은 Fe-TCPC가 Fe-PC보다 고온부에서 강산량점량이 많았고 저온부에서 약산점량은 적게 나타난 것으로 보아 Fe-TCPC가 표면에 카르복실기의 화학적흡착 영향으로 강산점에서 많은 탈착이 일어났음을 의미한다. 3) Fe-TCPC는 Fe-PC보다 비표면적과 세공부피가 많았고, 과산화수소의 분해효율이 높아 촉매적 성질이 우수하였으며, 또한 입자의 크기도 작았음을 확인하였다. 이는 모든 조건에서 Fe-TCPC가 Fe-PC보다 흡착능력이 우수한 것으로 예측된다. 4)카르복실기가 치환된 철 프탈로시아닌 유도체의 제거효율은 아민화합물이 우수하지만 황화합물에서 다소 낮게 나타났다. 이 결과로 보아 아민류에 효과가 있는 카르복실 철 프탈로시아닌을 착색제로 사용하면 탈취 기능을 가진 안료가 될 것으로 생각된다.

Syntheses and Properties of Polydentate Schiff Base and Their Cu(Ⅱ) Complexes (여러자리 시프 염기 리간드와 구리(Ⅱ) 착물의 합성과 성질)

  • The novel Schiff base hexadentate ligand, bis-(salicylaldehyde)-triethylentetramine (BSTT) and heptadentate ligand, bis-(salicylaldehyde)-tetraethylenpentamine(BSTP) were synthesized by the reaction of salicylaldehydes with triethylenetetramine and tetraethylenepentamine, having four and five nitrogen atoms, respectively. These liquid Schiff base ligands were become in form of the pale-yellow crystals in the specific pH 4.0 by adding acetic acid concentrated hydrochloric acid. The Cu(Ⅱ) complexes of the Schiff bases were synthesized by reaction of the Schiff base with Cu(Ⅱ) ion and their possible structures were proposed by several analytical data, and physical and chemical properties.
