For this purpose, a questionnaire survey was conducted with parents and early childhood teachers belonging to kindergarten in G district. The frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation were calculated using the SPSS 21.0 program, and the t-test and the ${\chi}^2$ test were used to obtain data on child abuse(physical, language, emotion and thinking, neglect, preventive measure, improvement plan). The results of this study are as follows: First, the difference of perception about child abuse was higher in early childhood teachers than parents. Recognition of subordinate content is neglected in both parents and early childhood teachers, body, emotion and thinking, and language. Second, parent awareness of child abuse prevention education and participatory seminar education was more perceived than subcontent of preventive measures. • The purpose of this study is to provide basic data on policy development using big data analysis and machine learning algorithms as part of preparing measures to prevent child abuse. In order to analyze big data for developing machine learning algorithms to prevent child abuse, frequency analysis, related word analysis, and emotional analysis were performed after defining academic databases and social network service data as big data. related words, and emotional analysis were conducted. As a result of the study, a preventive child abuse algorithm can be developed by preparing a data collection and sharing network system to prevent child abuse from the perspective of children affected by child abuse, perpetrators, and government authorities. Although it will be possible by institutionalizing infant self-esteem, depression, and anxiety tests with clues that depression and anxiety appear due to a decrease in self-concept in the characteristics of children affected by child abuse. We suggest that continuous progress of big data collection and analysis and algorithm development research to prevent child abuse, and expects that effective policies to prevent child abuse will be realized to eradicate child abuse crimes.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study is developing parents' character competency reinforcement program for the prevention of child abuse based on the critical competencies suggested by Character Education Promotion Act. Methods: For the development of the program, the literature review about child abuse prevention program in domestic and international research was conducted. Also, we conducted focus group interviews with kindergarten (n = 3) and elementary school (n = 4) teachers who experienced abusive parents for grasping their characteristics as a qualitative data collecting strategy. Results: As a result, parents' character competency reinforcement program for the prevention of child abuse was composed of a total of 7 activities; 'Understanding me and child', 'Anger management training for parent', 'Improving effective communication skill with child', 'Practicing two-way communication with child', 'Arts and Culture experience with child', 'Understanding my and child's feelings', 'We need a whole village to raise a child'. This program curriculum can be greatly four parents' character competency parts; self-management competency, communication competency, sensitivity competency, community competency. Conclusion/Implications: The program developed in this research can utilize the basic framework of the program to strengthen parent's toughness ability and it is crucial to develop customized toughness capacity increasing plan according to parent's characteristics It will be essential information.

  • The study was intended to identify the factors that affect pediatric nurses' perception toward child abuse and their reporting attitude. The report rate was very low, only 3 (9.1%) of respondents. Most of them did not report, 30(90.9%), and the main causes of non-reporting were not-serious or lack of evidence. The recognition and experience of child abuse depending on the characteristics of nurses in pediatric wards showed a significant difference according to their academic background (X2=16.52, p=.011). The results of the review of the differences in the reported attitudes of child abuse nurses showed a significant difference in the age of nurses in the pediatric ward (X2=13.64, p=.034). Nurses in the pediatric ward are required to develop intervention programs and tools for assessing child abuse, and to provide education and systems for the prevention of child abuse, which will make it necessary for the universal reporting of cases against child abuse and the prevention of child abuse.

  • Relations of factors associated with burnout were investigated among 124 child protective service workers currently working in Korean Child Abuse Prevention Centers nationwide. Three categories of factors associated with burnout were examined; (1) individual characteristics, (2) job-related characteristics, and (3) job-satisfaction. Social survey method using questionnaires by mail was employed. MBI(Maslach Burnout Inventory) for measuring burnout, a part of Smith, Kendal & Hulin's JDI(Job Description Index) for job-satisfaction, and a scale measuring the special characteristics of job developed by researchers were used. Mann-Whitney test and Kruskal-Wallis test were employed to analyze the data. Across all burnout sub-scales(emotional depletion, dehumanization of clients, lack of feelings of achievement), subjects reported a high degree(above the cutting point) of burnout. Several factors were identified as associated with burnout. Child protective service workers who are young, single with front line worker status reported higher burnout. Lack of education and training before the job location were another factors which contributed to worker burnout. Lack of proper supervision stood out as another burnout provoking factor. Job-satisfaction was negatively correlated with all three burnout sub-scales, which meant the lower the job-satisfaction, the higher the burnout of service workers. The findings implicate that the administrators of Child Abuse Prevention Centers should pay close attention to their workers' sign of burnout and develop carefully designed support system which include provision of excellent supervision, proper education and training opportunities and organizational effort to strengthen employees' overall job-satisfaction to secure their quality of services toward abused children and their family.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify childcare teachers' self-reported perception of child abuse and neglect, reporting procedures, and reporting experience in Korea. The total average score of knowledge in child abuse and neglect was relatively high and most childcare teachers consider child abuse and neglect as a highly serious problem. About eighty six percent daycare teachers perceived reporting legislation toward child abuse and neglect, and most teachers in the study population perceived themselves as mandatory reporters. As the Child Welfare Act included a clause on mandated reporters, childcare teachers' role in intervening in child abuse cases has become more critical. In order to increase childcare teachers' reporting, education program should be designed for childcare teachers to effectively involve them in reporting child abuse and neglect.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the state of parent education experienced by parents and the state of child education at home relation to infant/preschooler abuse prevention. The subjects in this study were 302 selected parents who resided in I city and whose children were in infancy or early childhood. A survey was conducted, and frequency analysis or chi-square test was carried out after their answer sheets were gathered. The findings of the study were as follows: As for the state of parent education, the parents who received education related to infant/ preschooler abuse prevention accounted for 12.6 percent, and the parents who were taught about all the four types of abuse outnumbered the others who weren't. The parents received that education at institutions for early childhood education by experts in child abuse and early childhood education, and they replied they were satisfied with that education. As for the state of child education, the parents who replied they provided abuse prevention education for their children at home accounted for 25.2 percent, and they answered they taught about physical abuse and how to cope with abuse. They responded they started to conduct this education in their homes when their children were in infancy, and they did it frequently in daily life mainly through conversations. They told it's difficult for them to offer this education at home due to a shortage of abuse-related materials. And whether they offered that education for their children or not at home was significantly different according to whether they received parent education or not. Given the findings of the study, the necessity of the development of manuals for abuse prevention education that can easily be used at home without any modifications was suggested, and education on neglect and the revitalization of publicity are required as well.
