A Study on the influence of Perceived Organizational Support and Psychological Empowerment to Organizational Citizenship Behavior (조직지원인식 및 심리적 임파워먼트가 조직시민행동에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • This study investigated the impacts of perceived organizational support and psychological empowerment on organizational citizenship behavior. To accomplish this purpose, the authors conducted a survey of employees in manufacturing companies in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region. A total of 272 questionnaires were used for the study. Hypotheses were tested through multiple regression analysis. As a result, perceived organizational support and psychological empowerment both positively affected organizational citizenship behavior. Perceived organizational support and psychological empowerment have less been studied as exploratory variables of organizational citizenship behavior. Therefore, the results of this study have many theoretical and practical implications.

Study on the Development and Effectiveness of Empowerment Program for the Persons with Disabilities Caused by Industrial Accidents (산재장애인을 위한 임파워먼트 프로그램 개발 및 효과)

  • This study is about the development and effectiveness of the 'Empowerment Program' for the persons with disabilities caused by industrial accidents. The program was developed on the basis of the analysis of focus group interviews for the rehabilitation counselors who work with the persons with disabilities caused by industrial accidents. Also, it was based on Miley et al's empowerment model and the group social work practice. The goal of the program was to strengthen the level of empowerment and decrease emotional frustration for the persons with disabilities caused by industrial accidents. The program consisted of two different types: one for the hospitalized person and the other for the discharged person. The program practiced once a week for 6 weeks and 8 weeks by the choice of the rehabilitation counselors. In order to verify the effectiveness of the program, the participants included 11 persons for the experimental group and 10 persons for the control group. The empowerment scores of the two groups were estimated at the point of pre-test and post-test and were analysed through the Wilcoxon signed rank test and Mann-Whitney U test. As the results of the analyses showed, there were significant differences in the increases in the areas of total empowerment and self-image as a sub-scale between the two groups. In conclusion, the effectiveness of the program was confirmed. Also, it has been verified that the program can be an important social work practice tool for strengthening the empowerment level of the persons with disabilities caused by industrial accidents.

Effects of psychological empowerment on achievement in team based learning: Mediating effect of co-regulation (팀 학습 환경에서 개인의 심리적 임파워먼트가 과제성취도에 미치는 영향: 협력적 자기조절의 매개효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the impact of empowerment on achievement in the team based learning by college nursing students and the mediation effects of co-regulation. A convenience sample of 243 subjects were recruited from one university in G city. And data were collected from May 23 to May 30, 2017. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's Correlation, Multiple regression analyses with SPSS 21.0 Program. The psychological empowerment showed a significantly positive correlation of co-regulation and achievement, co-regulation showed a significantly positive correlation of achievement. The factors affecting the achievement were co-regulation, psychological empowerment, improvement on cooperation and modification, grade, and explanatory power was 57.2%. Co-regulation had a partial mediating effect in the relationship between shared psychological empowerment and Achievement. This study provided basic data for developing the nursing education program to improve achievement. and it is necessary to repeat the study including various variables related to achievement of the task in the future.

A Mediating Effect of Psychological Empowerment on the Relationship between Top Executives' Servant Leadership Level Perceived by Social Workers and Organizational Citizenship Behavior(OCB) (사회복지사가 인식한 최고관리자의 서번트 리더십 수준과 조직시민행동 간의 관계에서 심리적 임파워먼트의 매개효과)

  • The main objective of this study is to examine a mediating effect of psychological empowerment on the relationship between top executives' servant leadership level perceived by social workers and OCB. The subjects of this study were 375 social workers at 67 social welfare organizations in Young-nam area. The three variables: top executives' servant leadership, psychological empowerment, and OCB were measured by self-report questionnaires. In addition, this study adopted structural equation model analysis to examine the relationships among the variables. Main results are as follows: First, top executives' servant leadership level perceived by social workers has positive effected on OCB and psychological empowerment. Second, psychological empowerment has positive effected on OCB. Finally, psychological empowerment on the relationship between top executives' servant leadership level perceived by social workers and OCB has played a partial mediating role. The results of this study suggest that administrators of social welfare organizations need to exert servant leadership to generate OCB of social welfare organizations.

Effect of Dental Hygienists' work environment on organizational commitment: mediating effect of psychological empowerment (치과위생사의 근무환경이 조직몰입에 미치는 영향 : 심리적 임파워먼트 매개효과)

  • Background: The purpose of this study is to verify the impact of dental hygienists' working environment on organizational commitment and the mediating effect of psychological empowerment in the relationship between working environment and organizational commitment. Methods: A survey was conducted on 264 people working as dental hygienists between August 16 and August 23, 2023. The collected data were analyzed using t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation analysis, and regression analysis. Results: In the dental hygienist work environment, all three subfactors (safety management system, manager's competency, and support system) had a significant positive(+) correlation between psychological empowerment and organizational commitment. Dental hygienists' work environment was found to have an effect on organizational commitment, and psychological empowerment was found to have a partial mediating effect in the relationship between work environment and organizational commitment. Conclusion: As a way to improve dental hygienists' organizational commitment, it is necessary to develop a strategic human resource management program to create a safe and positive work environment and to form an organizational culture in which managers can recognize the power of members and grant empowerment.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between supervisors' transformational leadership, teachers' depression and the psychological empowerment of teachers in kindergartens and childcare centers. The subjects were 208 teachers employed in kindergartens or childcare centers in Daegu and Gyeongbuk Province. Questionnaires, which required self-reporting by teachers, were used to investigate supervisors' transformational leadership, teachers' depression and psychological empowerment. The data thus collected were analyzed by mean of Pearson's correlation, hierarchial regression, and by the use of SPSS Win 15.0. The results of our study were as follows. First, Supervisors' transformational leadership was positively associated with teachers' psychological empowerment. Second, teachers' depression was negatively associated with teachers' psychological empowerment. Finally, The interaction effects of supervisors' transformational leadership and teachers' depression on teachers' psychological empowerment were observed.

Empowerment and Job Satisfaction among Clinical Nurses in South Korea: Systematic Review (임상간호사의 임파워먼트와 직무만족에 대한 체계적 문헌고찰)

  • Purpose: To synthesize and identify the studies that delineated the relationship between empowerment and job satisfaction in clinical nurses in Korea. Methods: Electronic databases were searched, including KmBase, KoreaMed. riss4u, National Assembly Digital Library and National Discovery for Science Leaders (NDSL) The search terms included nurse, satisfaction and empowerment. Only papers published in Korean were included. Results: Twelve studies, from 156 references screened, were included the final analysis. All studies were non-experimental and used correlational analysis. A significant positive relationship between structural or psychological empowerment and job satisfaction was found. Older nurses with longer clinical experience and higher education background were more likely to have high level of structural and psychological empowerment and job satisfaction. Conclusion: The study results indicate that to produce an empowering work environment, nurse managers have to create a supportive organizational culture, and provide access to resources and opportunity as well as to strengthen emotional support.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate effects of the confirmed of boss and the organizational effectiveness. For this, The mediating effect of psychological empowerment was verified. on the Influence of Organizational Effectiveness. the confirmed of boss (+)effected of the organizational effectivenes and verified the parameter part of psychological empowerment. Also The confirmed of boss (+)effected of a Junior staff's the job satisfaction and the organizational commitment. This results suggest that for maximization the organizational effectiveness need the confirmed of boss and the delegation of authority. The delegation of authority from boss provide autonomy and creativeity to Junior staffs. This ways suggest that make them the job satisfaction and the organizational commitment.

Effects of Collective Leadership on Follower's Work Engagement: Examining the role of Psychological Empowerment and Self-efficacy (집합적 리더십이 구성원의 직무열의에 미치는 영향 : 심리적 임파워먼트의 매개효과와 자기효능감의 조절효과를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between collective leadership and employee's work engagement and psychological empowerment. This study tested the impact of collective leadership on employee's work engagement and the mediating role of psychological empowerment between the two variables. And also, this study tested moderating role of self-efficacy between psychological empowerment and work engagement. A total of 237 employees in 7 companies in South Korea participated in this study. The SPSS 21.0 and M-Plus6 statistical programs were used in this study to analyze and statistically process the collected survey data. The result showed that collective leadership positively influence employee's work engagement and psychological empowerment works as mediator in the relationship between collective leadership and employee's work engagement. This results means that collective leadership is a crucial factor to facilitate employee's psychological empowerment toward employee's work engagement. Self-efficacy had moderating effect between psychological empowerment and work engagement. Finally, theoretical and practical implications of the study results have been discussed along with limitations and future direction of the study.

The correlations between psychological empowerment, leader-member exchange (LMX) and job satisfaction in dental hygienists (치과위생사의 심리적 임파워먼트 및 리더-구성원 간 교환관계(LMX)와 직무 만족도의 관련성)

  • Objectives:This study aimed to identify the influences of leader-member exchange (LMX) and psychological empowerment of the dental hygienists on their job satisfaction. Methods: A self-administrated questionnaire survey was conducted from July 7 to August 2014 targeting 196 dental hygienists in Busan and Gyeongsangnamdo. Leader-member relationship, psychological empowerment and job satisfaction were evaluated by LMX scale, psychological empowerment scale and job descriptive index (JDI), respectively. Data were analyzed by descriptive analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and multiple Linear regression analysis. Results: Overall LMX, psychological empowerment on job satisfaction level of subjects were $3.43{\pm}0.61$, $3.38{\pm}0.66$ and $3.20{\pm}0.42$, respectively. The influential factors of LMX, psychological empowerment and job satisfaction were professional respect (subcategory of LMX), affect (subcategory of LMX), meaning (subcategory of psychological empowerment) and impact (subcategory of psychological empowerment). Conclusions: Job satisfaction of dental hygienist is closely related to professional respect, affect, meaning and impact.
