Reaction kinetics of polyurethane elastomers (PU) were studied using dynamic DSC and TGA for three PU samples of general purpose (Sample A), high temperature cross-likable CASE purpose with MOCA (Sample B), and RT cross-likable CASE purpose grade (Sample C). From DSC results, sample with MOCA(Sample B) showed lower shift of peak temperature, while showing broader thermograms than those of general purpose grade (Sample A). On the other hand, RT cross-linkable PU grade (Sample C) showed an interesting double mode reaction patterns, i.e., a lower temperature reaction at about $70\;^{\circ}C$, and a higher temperature reaction in the range of $140{\sim}170\;^{\circ}C$, indicating that it requires 2-step reaction process in order to complete the reaction. Once the cross-linking reaction completed, however, TGA results showed that all the samples would be considered to have similar chemical structures, showing similar decomposition processes. Sample C, especially, had showed decomposition properties of both Sample A and Sample B. Formation activation energies calculated from Kissinger method showed 10.39, 65.85, 36.52(Low $T_p$) and 18.21(High $T_p$) kcal/mol, while decomposition activation energies were 31.94, 30.84, 24.16 kcal/mol, respectively.

The elastic and inelastic responses obtained from the experimental and analytical results of two RC building structures under the service level earthquake (SLE) and maximum considered earthquake (MCE) in Korea were used to weinvestigate the characteristics of the mechanisms resisting shear and torsional behavior in torsionally unbalanced structures. Equations representing the interactive effect of translational drift and torsional deformation on the shear force and torsional moment were proposed. Because there is no correlation in the behavior between elastic and inelastic forces and strains, the incremental shear forces and incremental torsional moments were analyzed in terms of their corresponding incremental drifts and incremental torsional deformations with respect to the yield, unloading, and reloading phases around the maximum edge-frame drift. In the elastic combination of the two dominant modes, the translational drift mainly contributes to the shear force, whereas the torsional deformation contributes significantly to the overall torsional moment. However, this phenomenon is mostly altered in the inelastic response such that the incremental translational drift contributes to both the incremental shear forces and incremental torsional moments. In addition, the given equation is used to account for all phenomena, such as the reduction in torsional eccentricity, degradation of torsional stiffness, and apparent energy generation in an inelastic response.

Theoretical analysis is carried out for the curtoff wavelength characteristics of rectangular waveguide containing a step-ridge. In order to obtain the cutoff wavelength of step-rigde waveguide, an transmission matriz is formulated by the method of equivalent transverse resonance. The characteristic equation, in which the wavelength is obtainable by the numerical method, is derived from the equation. An approximate determination of the dominant mode fields in step-ridge waveguides at all frequencies has been made. Using these fields, the characteristic impedance equation is derived from power considerations. Analyzing the results of the calculations, the following characteristics are noted. The values of λ /a of TE10 mode increase with decreasing gap lengths and with increasing step width S or S , or both. Experimental results of cutoff characteristics are in good agreement with the theoretical analusis. It is shown that a waveguide within which a step-ridge is placed has a lower cutoff frequency and impedance than empty guide without it. Therefore, the role of a step-ridge guide is to broadening the bandwidth 2 to 3 times more than that of an empty guide of the same demension.
This paper investigates the behavior of precast concrete (PC) shear walls with a new vertical connections for a fast remodeling construction. The C-type vertical connections for the PC wall systems are proposed for transfer of bending moment between top and bottom walls in the vertical direction while a shear key in the center of wall is prepared to transfer shear forces by bearing action. The proposed vertical connections allows easy fabrication thanks to slots at the edges of wall in opposite directions. The plane PC wall systems subject to lateral load are compared with ordinary wall systems by investigating the effects of connection on the stiffness, strength, ductility, and failure modes of whole systems. The load-displacement relationship and influence of premature failure of connections are examined. The experimental test showed that the longitudinal reinforcing steel bars placed at the edges of walls yielded first and the ultimate deformation were terminated due to premature failure of connections. The diagonal reinforcements for efficient shear transfer in the walls were not effective. The strength and deformation obtained through the section analysis were generally in agreement with the experimental data, and indicated that. Gap opening contributed to the deformation behavior more than any other factors.

This paper presents a Zero-Current Switching(ZCS) two-transformer phase-shifted full-bridge(TTFB) converter using voltage ripple. The proposed converter provides Zero-Voltage Switching(ZVS) of leading leg switches and ZCS of lagging leg switches using voltage ripple. Especially, circulating current is reduced by ZCS operation and there are no additional components required for the soft switching of power switches. Furthermore, in case of light load, ZVS operation of lagging leg can be achieved. The operations, analysis and design consideration of proposed converter are presented. To verify the validity of the proposed converter, experimental results for a 410W (205[V], 2[A]) prototype are presented.

The high efficiency full-bridge LLC resonant converter using a contact-less transformer Is proposed for the photovoltaic power generation system. For the series resonance with a series capacitor, the LLC resonant converter utilizes the leakage inductance and magnetizing inductance of a contact-less transformer Unlike the conventional series resonant converter operated to the continuous resonant current at above resonance frequency, the proposed converter operates to the discontinuous resonant current at the narrow frequency control range below resonance frequency. Due to the discontinuous mode resonant current, the proposed converter can be achieved the zero voltage switching (ZVS) in the primary switches and the zero current switching (ZCS) in the secondary rectification diodes without my auxiliary circuit. In this paper, the experimental results of the proposed full-bridge LLC resonant converter using a contact-less transformer are verified on the simulation based on the theoretical analysis and the 150W experimental prototype.

Inorganic micropowder(Ce500)-filled polyurethane composite foams were fabricated and the effects of postcure on the mechanical properties were studied by the measurement of polymerization temperature, TGA, and UTM test. Temperature for the maximum reaction rate of 20wt% Ce500-filled sample reached upto ca. $100^{\circ}$ within 10min. and, for the same sample, double mode thermal decomposition was observed around two distinguished temperatures of $250^{\circ}$ and $350^{\circ}C$. The activation energies for the decomposition were calculated using Kissinger method as 117.4 and 139.4 kJ/mol, respectively. While break strength and hardness of the sample seemed nearly affected by postcure time at $160^{\circ}C$, elongation, however, was significantly changed upto 1.72 times after 7hrs treatment. As the results, the condition of 7hrs at $160^{\circ}$ was considered as the optimum postcure condition for the Ce500-filled PU composite foam samples.
The light weight composite materials have been replacing in high performance structures. The object of this study is to examine the effects of the initial crack location about a delamination in a PVC foam cored sandwich composite that is used for the strength improvement of structures. The initial crack location and fiber laminates thickness were changed with several types. The MMB specimen was used for evaluating the fracture toughness and crack behaviors. The material used in the experiment is a commercial twill carbon prepreg in CFRP material and Airex in PVC foam core. Sandwich laminate composites are composed by PVC foam core layer between CFRP face sheets. The face sheets were fabricated as 2 types of 5 and 8 plies. The initial cracks were located in a PVC form core and the interface of upper CFRP sheet. From the results, the crack initiation was affected with the location of the initial crack inserted in the PVC foam core. Among them, the initial crack at 1/3 of the upper part of the PVC foam core was the most rapid progression. And the critical energy release rate was $0.40kJ/m^2$, which is the lowest value when the initial crack was inserted into the interface between a PVC foam core and CFRP laminated with 5 plies. Meanwhile, the highest value of $1.27kJ/m^2$ was obtained when the initial crack was located at the center line in case of the 8 plies.

Atomic force microscopy (AFM) is powerful tool for determining properties of samples based on interactions between the sample surface and an approaching probe tip. In this study, we modeled the interactions between the sample and the tip of the AFM microcantilever as a single nonlinear spring with an equivalent stiffness element and simulated the dynamic behaviors of the AFM microcantilevers using the finite element method (FEM) and ANSYS software. With the simulation results, we analyzed the complex dynamic responses of the AFM cantilever using proper orthogonal decomposition (POD). In addition, we compared the simulation and experimental results using the same method. Consequently, we suggest an effective method to express the interaction between the tip and sample, and we confirm that the influence of the higher order model due to the interaction between the tip and sample is increased.
This paper describes the development of force limiting device(FLD). The FLD could induce compressive yield before occurring elastic buckling for slender member under compressive load. Therefore, it might prevent reduction of load carrying capacity by elastic buckling and the structures with the devices would behave stable. A new type of FLD reduced cross area is proposed in this study different to existing studies like as out of plane type, slit type and folded plate type. The parameters of specimens are depth, width and number of cutting. The structural capacity and characteristics of proposed types were verified by experiment and FEM analysis. The FLD of cutting type is efficient in compressive member.
