Recently with the conclusion of fisheries agreements between Korea and Japan, and between Korea and China, trawlers in korea must operate in smaller fishing ground than before. As a result of this, the possibilities of collisionin increases gradually between trawlers under operation in this area. Authors performed a series of experiments on board to give the information of collision avoiding action to navigators of trawlers. The obtained results are summerized as follows : 1. The greater the rudder angle, the smaller the value of T, but there is no big diffierence in K due to rudder angle. 2. The greatest distance is to be kept by the give way vessel to avoid collision when the crossing course angle is $70^{\circ}{\sim}90^{\circ}$. In this case the safety minimum approaching distance must be more than 5 times of her own length. 3. Risk of collision in crossing is more greater in obtuse situation than in acute one. 4. The navigator of the give way vessel must take an action to avoid collisions outside of the minimum safety approaching distance.

A full-scale test line was established to verify the electrical environmental interferences caused by the HVDC ±500 kV Double Bipole overhead transmission line with metallic return conductor, which is scheduled for construction in Korea and the fullscale test was conducted for one year. And through the human perception test of the DC electric-field under the HVDC Double Bipole line, the threshold value at which the human detects DC electric field was investigated to verify the validity of the design guide for the HVDC ±500 kV Double Bipole overhead transmission line. The polarity configuration of the HVDC ±500 kV Double Bipole test line was arranged diagonally with the same polarity in terms of the electrical environment disturbance and operation. The test line utilized the 6-bundle arrangement to prevent the corona discharge taking into account the domestic social acceptability. The test results show that the HVDC ±500 kV Double Bipole transmission line generated very little corona discharge from the conductors. Therefore, both DC electric field and ion current density met the domestic design guide for DC overhead transmission lines. Also, the human perception test of DC electric fields under the test line showed that 70% of participants did not recognize the DC electric field even when exposed to 23 kV/m.

A ship's propulsion shafting system is subjected to varying magnitudes of intermittent loadings that pose great risks such as failure. Consequently, the dynamic characteristic of a propulsion shafting system must be designed to withstand the resonance that occurs during operation. This resonance results from hydrodynamic interaction between the propeller and fluid. For ice-class vessels, this interaction takes place between the propeller and ice. Producing load- and resonance-induced stresses, the propeller-ice interaction is the primary source of excitation, making it a major focus in the design requirements of propulsion shafting systems. This paper examines the transient torsional vibration response of the propulsion shafting system of an ice-class research vessel. The propulsion train is composed of an electric motor, flexible coupling, spherical gears, and a propeller configuration. In this paper, the theoretical analysis of transient torsional vibration and propeller-ice interaction loading is first discussed, followed by an explanation of the actual transient torsional vibration measurements. Measurement data for the analysis were compared with an applied estimation factor for the propulsion shafting design torque limit, and they were evaluated using an existing international standard. Addressing the transient torsional vibration of a propulsion shafting system with an electric motor, this paper also illustrates the influence of flexible coupling stiffness design on resulting resonance. Lastly, the paper concludes with a proposal to further study the existence of negative torque on a gear train and its overall effect on propulsion shafting systems.

The securing safety of ferry ships on the domestic coast is evaluated by comparing the external force applied and the securing device based on the cargo weight and hull acceleration that can exist at the loaded position. The hull acceleration based on the domestic standard, which is the basis for securing safety evaluation, is applied without reflecting the characteristics of the ship and the sailing conditions. In this study, a total of 12 acceleration measurements were performed at four points of the hull of a ship with a DWT 6,800 ton class 15.5 knots passing through Busan-Jeju to analyze the hull acceleration of the domestic coastal ferry ship. Data were collected for the buoy. For a theoretical comparative analysis of the limited measurement results, the response amplitude operator (RAO) was analyzed through frequency-response analysis by numerical simulation, and acceleration analysis for the four points was performed using the RAO results. Based on the acceleration comparison, differences in the degree of each position were observed, but in the case of the Y-axis acceleration, the analysis was 1.81 m/s2, and the measurement was 1.47 m/s2. The analyzed simulation result was as high as 0.34 m/s2. Moreover, analysis was performed at 22 % level, and measurement at 18 % level.

The optimum solutions of the instability of the target velocity were studied to solve the case of the target velocity of the ship approaching at a speed of ◯◯knots and deviated by more than ± 10knots, while the surveillance radar rotating speed was varied, while the maximum search range of the radar was evaluated during the operational test & evaluation. The instability of the target velocity did not enable the radar to calculate the information of the target precisely and to degrade the probability of hit and the quality of the target management. The improvement to handle the deviation of the target velocity was optimally determined by using a fishbone diagram to find 9 reasons based on 4M1E, and the algorithm of the target management was identified as the crucial reason. In this study, the improvement was applied to the filter algorithm to stabilize the target velocity in the target tracking management SW by reviewing the current algorithm to find the velocity of the target and recognizing that the problem does not apply to different 𝜶, 𝞫 values when the antenna changed the rotating speed. The ability of the improvement to work was tested on board.
The characteristics of the manoeuvring motion of a ship are dependent on the ship type, as well as draft or speed in the same ship. In recent years, the number of extra-large vessels has increased significantly, which can cause enormous material and environmental damage in the event of a marine accident. Thus, the importance of ship maneuvering is increasing. The IMO has forced the officers to be trained in simulators through the STCW 95 amendment. However, FMSS is costly and difficult to access and the PC-based simulator has the disadvantage that only one person can engage in simulation. The purpose of this study was to solve the shortcomings of the FMSS and PC-based simulators by enabling multiple people to use their PCs to simulate based on a network. The simulator is implemented through the analysis and numerical calculation of the Nomoto model, Radar function mounting, data transfer protocol design, and GUI building. To verify the simulator, the simulation results were compared and analyzed with the test results of T.S. HANBADA according to the criteria of the Korean Register of Shipping(KR) and IMO standards for ship maneuverability. As a result, It showed a relative error of 0%~ 32.1% with an average of 13.7%, and it satisfied the IMO criteria for ship maneuverability.
We examined the effects of four different types of cutting on the quality characteristics of sweet pumpkin. Two hundred grams of each of four samples were packed individually in polypropylene mm and stored at $10^{\circ}C$ for 9 days. Samples were evaluated for weight loss, change in hardness, color change, pH change, water-soluble materials, gas changes, and sensory evaluation. $CO_2$concentration increased during storage, whereas $O_2$ concentration rapidly decreased and then stabilized after 3 days. $C_2H_4$ was detected only after 3 days of storage, and steadily increased thereafter. The rate of weight loss steadily increased Analysis of Lab color space indicated no significant change in the L and b values, but an increase in the a value at the end of storage. Waster-soluble solids increased, but hardness showed no change. All the samples underwent a steady increase in pH. Samples cut into 8 pieces had the highest sensory scores.

DAS(Driver Assistance Systems) support the driver's decision making to increase safety and comfort by issuing the naming signals or even exert the active control in case of dangerous conditions. Most previous research and products intend to offer only a single warning service like the lane departure warning, collision warning, lane change assistance, etc. Although these functions elevate the driving safety and convenience to a certain degree, New type of DAS will be developed to integrate all the important functions with an efficient HMI (Human-Machine Interface) framework for various driving conditions. We propose an all-around sensing based on the integrated DAS that can also remove the blind spots using 2 cameras and 8 sonars, recognize the driving environment by lane and vehicle detection, construct a novel birds-eye HMI for easy comprehension. it can give proper warning in case of imminent danger.

Recently, Hybrid Navigation Systems combining Omega, NNSS, Loran C and Dead reckoning etc. served to give us highly accurate ship's position, and a number of ships are equipped with these navigation systems. In order to evaluate for the accuracy of this navigation system observations of Loran C, 5970 and 9970 chains and Radar at the same time were made on board m.s Jeonbuk 401 and 403 training ships of Gunsan Fisheries Collage at nine stations in the yellow sea from July, 1982 to June, 1983, and then were done by the Hybrid Navigation System combining Dead reckoning and Loran C at the same areas. The authors investigated the accuracy of the Hybrid Navigation System based on measurements of the relative positional error which is defined as the difference between the position fixed by this system or the Loran C system, and the one by the Radar. The obtained results are as follows; 1. The mean standard deviation of the time difference of Loran C were about 0.21$\mu$s in 9970 chain and about 0.06$\mu$s in 5970 chain, and the fluctuation of the time difference of Loran C in 5970 chain was smaller than that in 9970 chain. 2. The positional error between two positions by Radar and the Hybrid Navigation System in 9970 chain was about 0.4 miles, and between two positions by Radar and Loran C was about 0.51 miles. The Hybrid Navigation System was therefore more accurate than Loran C System. 3. The positional error between two positions by Radar and Hybrid Navigation System in 5970 chain was about 0.4 miles, and between two positions by Radar and computer simulation of Loran C was about 0.98 miles. Consequently, Hybrid Navigation System was more accurate than computer simulation of Loran C system.
To achieve the 2D dose distribution around the designed high dose rate Ir-192 source substitution for Co-60 brachytherapy source, we determined the exposure rate constant and tissue attenuation factors as a large depth as a 20 cm from source center. The exposure rate constant is used for apparent activity in designed source with self-absorption and encapsulation steel wall. The tissue dose delivered from the 4401 segments of 2.5 mm in a diameter and 2.5 mm height of disk-type source layer. In the experiments, the tissue attenuation factors include the tissue attenuation and multiple scattering in a medium surrounding the source. The fitted the polynomial regression with 4th order for the tissue attenuation factors are very closed to the experimental measurement data within ${\pm}$1% discrepancy. The Meisberger's constant showed the large uncertainty in large distance from source. The exposure rate constant 4.69 Rcm$^2$/mCi-hr was currently used for determination of apparent activity of source and air kerma strength was obtained 0.973 for tissue absorbed dose from the energy spectrum of Ir-192 source. In our experiments with designed high dose rate brachytherapy source, the apparent activity of Ir-192 source was delivered from the 54.6 % of actual physical source activity through the self-absorption and encapsulation wall attenuations. This paper provides the 2-dimensional dose tabulation from unit apparent activity in a water medium for dose planning includes the multiple scattering, source anisotropy effect and geometric factors.
