In this paper, the u-Service system that is based on location-aware technology is designed for a silver town. It provides services such as emergency call, intelligent elevator operation, and hands-free door access based on the location of the residents with personal device as called smart tag. It can also be applied to other service areas such as the location-aware u-Service for Hospital, high-rising complex building, APT, etc.

우리나라의 평균 수명이 77.5세로 지난 20년새 8.4세가 늘어난 것으로 나타났다. 이 같은 고령화 사회의 진입은 저출산 문제와 맞물려 우리나라의 산업전반에 큰 영향을 끼치고 있으며, 특히 노령화에 따른 주거의 변화가 빠르게 이루어질 전망이다. 절대 평균수명(2005~2010년)으로 세계 제일을 자랑하는 일본의 경우 '유료 노인홈'이나 '공동간호형 특별보호 노인홈' 등 다양한 주거시설을 채택, 고령화 인구의 유입을 꾀하고 있다. 본지에서는 日經아키텍쳐에서 "고령자 복지시설의 트렌드가 하루가 다르게 변한다"고 진단하고 '고령자 주거의 바람직한 모습'을 제시한 특집 '고령자 주고'를 통해 일본 실버주택의 현주소를 점검해 본다.

대전직할시 중구청에서 국내 최초의 노인 종합휴양시설인 '실버토피아' 건립 현상공모를 실시, 지난 2월 16일 심사결과를 발표, (주)건설종합기술공사(엄채영) + 양우.나우.다리건축(조인숙)안을 당선작으로 확정했다. 총 4개 작품이 출품된 이번 공모에서 우수작으로는 창우.정(이근+오희영+이근흥) + (주)우대기술단(양현승)안이, 장려작으로는 상화건축(목대상)+(주)삼화기술단(조연재)안이 각각 선정됐다.
