  • 본 연구개발에서는 은나노를 포함한 비오염성 석재용 실리콘 실란트를 제조하였다. 기본적인 실리콘 실란트 Formulation에 오일에 의한 오염성을 최소화하기 위해 편말단 폴리머를 사용하였다. 폴리머 가교를 통해 접착성과 작업성 등의 물성을 향상시켰으며, 나노크기의 은 powder를 사용하여 항균성을 부여하였다. 가장 큰 관건은 nano size의 은을 가장 균일하게 실란트에 분산시키는 것이 실란트 제품화의 주요 기술이었다.

Preparation and Adhesion of One Part Room Temperature Curable Alkoxy Type Silicone Sealant (일액형 알코올형 실리콘 실란트의 제조 및 접착 물성)

  • Silicone sealants are composed of polymer, plasticizer, crosslinker, catalyst and filler. Types and compositions of components are effected on sealant performances. In recent, use of alkoxy type silicone sealant increased due to environmental advantage. In this study, we investigated effects of component types and ratios on one-part room temperature curable alkoxy type silicone sealant preparation and adhesion properties. Alkoxy type silicone sealants were prepared with various PDMS (polydimethylsiloxane) viscosities. In addition, the effect of plasticizer, crosslinkers, and catalyst on sealant obtained from by mixture of PDMS viscosities of 20000 and 80000 was investigated. Reaction temperature on change of mixing time was observed, and then proper crosslinking systems were found. Adhesion (properties) of silicone sealants were measured. In the sealants preparation, stable reaction was achieved by adjusting composition variance ratio in the sealant mixture temperature below $40^{\circ}C$. The adhesion properties of sealant differ from substrate composition. The order of adhesion strength was glass/glass > glass/aluminum > aluminum/aluminum system. The elongation of sealant was increased as polymer viscosity and plasticizer content increased. The strength was increased as crosslinker and plasticizer decreased, while catalyst increased.

Crosslink Density and Dynamic Mechanical Characteristics of Epoxy-Nanocomposites according to Silane Treatment (실란처리에 따른 에폭시-나노콤포지트의 가교밀도 및 동적기계적특성 연구)

  • 에폭시수지에 유기화된 층상실리케이트 나노입자를 충진하여 에폭시-나노콤포지트 제조하였다. 에폭시-나노콤포지트는 열적, 기계적 특성이 매우 우수한 콤포지트로서 실란처리에 따른 동적 기계적 특성 (Dynamic Mechanical Analysis)과 가교밀도와의 관계를 조사였다. 나노입자의 충진함량은 3wt%로 충진하였고, Silane Coupling Agent는 에폭시실란으로서 3-Glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane이 사용되었다. 실란처리함량은 0.5, 1, 1.5 wt%로서 적용하여 제조된 샘플이다. DMA Storage modulus특성으로 glass state($40^{\circ}C$)에서는 원형에폭시의 경우 2054, 실란처리되지 않은 나노콤포지트 3967, 실란처리된 나노콤포지트는 4867MPa을 나타내었다. rubbery state($140^{\circ}C$)에서는 원형에폭시의 경우 1458, 실란처리되지 않은 경우 2506, 실란처리된 나노콤포지트는 2638MPa을 나타내었다. 또한 실란처리함량에따른 가교밀도변화는 0.5wt%에서는 0.803, 1 wt%에서는 0.671, 1.5wt%에서는 $0.762[mol/cm^3]$이로서 에폭시원형과 실란미처리된 나노콤포지트 그리고 실란처리된 나노콤포지트순으로 glass state와 rubbery state에서의 특성이 크게 향상된 결과를 얻었다. 이는 실란이 고분자와 무기물사이의 결합력을 강화시켜 열적기계적 특성향상을 가져 오는 것으로 볼 수 있다. 가교밀도의 실란처리함량의 변화에 있어서 과량의 함량 첨가는 에폭시와 나노층상실리게이트 표면처리된 잔유량이 오히려 특성의 저하를 가져오는 것으로 볼 수 있다.

Rheological Properties of Polyamide-Modified PVC-sol Sealants (폴리아미드가 함유된 PVC졸 실란트의 유변학적 물성)

  • Rheological properties of polyamide-modified poly(vinyl choride) (PVC)-sol sealants were investigated. PVC-sol was prepared by plasticization with dioctyl phthalate(DOP). Two kinds of polyamide rosins having different amino values and thus different viscosities were compared. The effects of the polyamide types and contents on the viscosities, thixotropic indices, and specific gravities of the PVC-sol were discussed. It was found that viscosities of the PVC-sol sealants were significantly affected by the types of the added polyamide resins, and the thixotropic index of the polyamide-modified PVC-sol sealant was observed to be dependent on the contents(not on the types of the polyamides). The viscosity behaviors of the polyamide-modified PVC-sol sealants aged at $45^{\circ}C$ and the effect of the addition of $CaCO_3$ were also discussed.

Assessment of Fungal Growth Resistance in Silicone Sealants According to Test Methods (시험법에 따른 실리콘 실란트의 곰팡이 저항성 평가)

  • This research undertook the assessment of six types of silicone sealants prepared. Their resistance to fungi was evaluated according to ASTM G 21, LH specification(LHCS 41 40 12), and the newly instituted KS F ISO 21265 test methods. The findings showed that KS F ISO 21265 test method exhibited the superior discriminative capability in assessing fungal resistance when compared to ASTM G 21 and LH specification(LHCS 41 40 12) test methods. Additionally, it was confirmed that oxime curing sealants demonstrated higher fungal resistance than alkoxy curing sealants. Furthermore, The introduction of a condition to assess fungal resistance after 4 weeks of immersion at 50℃ in KS F ISO 21265 is expected to enable long-term fungal resistance evaluation of sealants.

  • The Korean Ministry of the Environment revised a few sections of the regulations in the Law of indoor air quality management for the reinforcement or adjustment of the regulation criteria standard for releasing pollutants from building materials. Especially, in case of sealant, the contents covering liquid building materials, excess standards and testing methods have been added simultaneously in this revision, As a result it is impossible to compare original standards with revised standards directly. For this reason, this study reviewed revised test method of sealant pollutant emission rates in terms of impact and validity in comparison with the original test method. Through this study, the basic properties of revised pollutant emission control standards was assessed. Especially in sealant, since each product has a wide deviation of time required for complete drying, it is proved that there are a large number of products that are not hardened completely in test time. The result of our experiments on the revised test methods showed that this revised test methods yield emission rates that are two and half times less than those of the original testing method. To apply the revised test method of sealant to all the sealant products, It is necessary to extend the test period or improve specimen to fit the test method for quickly drying sealant products.

Properties of Epoxy Modified PVC-sol Sealants (에폭시가 함유된 PVC졸 실란트의 물성)

  • In this work, the effects of the addition of epoxy on the properties of PVC-sol sealants were investigated. PVC-sol was plasticized with dioctyl phthalates(DOP). Two kinds of epoxy resins having different epoxy equivalent weight (E.E.W.) were used. It was found that the properties of the PVC-sol sealants were significantly affected by the contents and types of the added epoxy resins. The viscosity behaviors of the epoxy-modified sealants, in the case of epoxy A addition, the viscosity was decreased with increasing the epoxy contents, but In the case of $CaCO_3$ addition, the viscosity was increased with increasing the $CaCO_3$ contents. The viscosity of epoxy modified sealants aged at $45^{\circ}C$ waterbath was decreased with increasing epoxy contents, since the epoxy acted on the sealants as a stabilizer. The thermal stability of the PVC-sol sealants was slightly improved by adding epoxy. The tensile strength and elongation of sealants modified with epoxy A(two functionalities of epoxy) were increased with increasing the epoxy contents up to a certain epoxy contents but was decreased with further increasing the epoxy contents. In the case of $CaCO_3$ addition, the tensile strength of sealants were decreased with increasing the $CaCO_3$ contents. In view of the electrical properties, such as tan ${\delta}$($0.1{\pm}0.04$) and ${\epsilon}_r$($0.5{\pm}0.04$), it was found that the epoxy modified sealants were as good as insulators.

  • Using sealant for window installation is sealing the gap between the window frame and outer wall (such as concrete). A sealant serves to prevent external environmental impacts such as moisture, rain, sand, and dust entering inside of the building and make the building durable. In order to fulfill basic jointing function of sealing, at least 6 mm joint gap between two bonding surfaces are required. Also, adhesion performance between sealant and surfaces and the compatibility with other building materials are required to check before installation. In general, 2 part polyurethane sealant and 1 part silicone sealant are most common materials for sealing the joint of window. In this study, adhesion performances of those two generic sealants reflecting actual application conditions and the compatibility evaluations with other building materials are conducted to propose proper window installation procedures.

Asphalt Sealant Containing the Waste Lubricant Oil (폐윤활유를 이용한 아스팔트 실란트)

  • Asphalt sealants for the crack repair of asphalt concrete road were prepared using waste lubricant oil in this work. The waste lubricant oil was compounded with asphalt(AP-5), SBS triblock copolymer, a tackifying agent(petroleum resin), and antioxidants. Cone penetration, softening point, ductility, elongation by tensile adhesion, and resilience of asphalt sealant compounds were measured. Cone penetration of asphalt sealant compounds increased with the increase of waste lubricant oil content while their softening point, ductility, and resilience decreased. By the addition of talc as an extender, softening point and resilience of asphalt sealants increased, but cone penetration, ductility, and elongation by tensile adhesion of those decreased with the proportion of talc content. The most economic asphalt sealant which could pass an ASTM specification could be manufactured by the big decrement of petroleum resin content.

  • The various type of polymer such as silicone, modified silicone, polyurethane, etc are being used in domestic construction sealant market. Once sealant is installed in building, it should maintain their specific performances such as preventing moisture, rain, air, etc against environment conditions for several decades. In this study, weather resistance as per polymer type of sealant has been evaluated using QUV accelerated weathering tester. As a result, weather resistance of silicone is highest and modified silicone is lowest in the comparison of other type of polymer.
