  • 360 product photography is one of the realistic media technologies that can observe subjects from various angles as one of the real-world VR production methods. This study examined the effect of 360 product photography on the intention to Continuous Use through the technology acceptance model. The results of the online survey showed that informative, which is the characteristic of 360 product photography, affects both ease of use and perceived usefulness, while reliability and entertainingness affect only perceived usefulness. Internal innovation had an impact on perceived ease, but not on perceived usability. Ease of use, both mediators, had a positive effect on sustained use intention. These findings can be used as a reference for various studies in the field of 360 product photography which is still insufficient. In addition, it can provide strategic implications for the production direction of 360 product photos.

  • Rapid increasing number of the internet web site enables the users receives information prepared with multimedia techniques as an exchanging gateway to the world. It is also realized that we are living in information society connected by the flooding number of the web sites. Consequently, setting up the identity in developing a homepage is critical since clear distinction from other sites is required for the homepage in which a random user can delivers the ideas from the message offered by the provider. In this paper, in order to establish the identity for a homepage, what kinds of components of the identity should be discussed and how the identity is reflected in the existing homepage are analyzed with the selected sample web sites. The design process in developing the identity for Ssamzie homepage (www ssarnzie eo.kr) is reviewed for comparing with others of the selected sites as a case study. These will explain that the roles of the designers in a homepage preparation will not be limited to the graphic expressions but will be expanded to the contribution to provide the reasonable distinction in terms of the establishing identity of the web sites. Moreover, the phase of the designer can be reevaluated by emphasizing the roles and the established identity.

  • This paper presents a 3D stereoscopic TIP (Tour Into Picture) for Korean classical paintings being composed of persons, boat, and landscape. Unlike conventional TIP methods providing 2D image or video, our proposed TIP can provide users with 3D stereoscopic contents. Navigating a picture with stereoscopic viewing can deliver more realistic and immersive perception. The method firstly makes input data being composed of foreground mask, background image, and depth map. The second step is to navigate the picture and to obtain rendered images by orthographic or perspective projection. Then, two depth enhancement schemes such as depth template and Laws depth are utilized in order to reduce a cardboard effect and thus to enhance 3D perceived depth of the foreground objects. In experiments, the proposed method was tested on 'Danopungjun' and 'Muyigido' that are famous paintings made in Chosun Dynasty. The stereoscopic animation was proved to deliver new 3D perception compared with 2D video.

  • Visualization requires for effective analysis of the spatial data collected by various sensors. The best way to convey 3D digital spatial information which is modeling of the real world to the users, realistic 3D visualization and display technology. Since most of the display is based on 2D or 2.5D projection to the plane, there is limitation in representing real world in 3D space. In this paper, data from airborne LiDAR for topographic mapping, Flashi-LiDAR as emerging sensor with great potential to 3D data acquisition, and multibeam echo-sounder for underwater measurement, were stereoscopically visualized. 3D monitors are getting popular and could be information media and platform in geoinformatics. Therefore, study on creating 3D stereoscopic contents of spatial information is essential for new technology of stereo viewing systems.

  • Nowadays, many graphic researchers are interested in 3D outdoor environment. They want to express more realistic natural background with natural phenomenon because computer hardware has become more powerful and increased a demand for a background of 3D natural environment in a content. Especially, e-sports contents and simulation contents with outdoor environment need more natural environment for a background than indoor contents. It is very important technology for a quality of 3D outdoor contents. We propose a software EMtool(Environment Making Tool) for authoring of natural environment for realistic contents. EMtool has been developed to depict relationship and interaction between natural phenomena and include methods for creating natural environment and natural objects. The proposed results are applied to real-time 3D contents such as 3D golf games and simulations for natural objects.

  • Virtual Training generates virtual situation or environment with specific goals in order to instruct trainees as if they are in the real-world. Recently, the demand of experiencing certain incident, which we are not able to experience in real life, has been increased along with the fast developing Virtual Reality (VR) technology. Particularly, Virtual Training(VT) enables us to learn various fields those require high risk and high cost. The system of VT provides interaction and allows us absorb these learning materials better which augments learning effect. Based on the demand of Virtual Training system, this research analyzes current education paradigm National Competency Standards (NCS) in Korea and suggests possible education that utilizes Virtual Training system. At the end of the day, our future goal is to apply suggested Virtual Training contents to universities that reflect NCS curriculum like polytechnic university.

  • In this paper, we describe a case study of the film 'Sector 7' which was produced by technologies applied fluid simulation. For the CG scenes in the movie which include highly detailed fluid motions, we used smoothed particle hydrodynamics(SPH) technique to express subtle movements of seawater from a crashed huge tank, and used hybrid simulation method of particles and levelsets to describe bursting water from a submarine's broken canopy. We also used detonation shock dynamics(DSD) technique for detailed flame simulations to produce a burning monster, the film"s main character. At this point, the divergence-free vortex particle method was applied to conserve the incompressible property of fluids. In addition, we used an upsampling method to achieve more efficient video production. Consequently, we could produce the high-quality visual effects by using the domestic technologies.

  • In this paper, we designed a revised neural network to remove the Monte Carlo Rendering noise contained in the ray tracing graphics. The Monte Carlo Rendering is the best way to enhance the graphic's realism, but because of the need to calculate more than thousands of light effects per pixel, rendering processing time has increased rapidly, causing a major problem with real-time processing. To improve this problem, the number of light used in pixels is reduced, where rendering noise occurs and various studies have been conducted to eliminate this noise. In this paper, a deep learning is used to remove rendering noise, especially by separating the rendering image into diffuse and specular light, so that the structure of the dual neural network is designed. As a result, the dual neural network improved by an average of 0.58 db for 64 test images based on PSNR, and 99.22% less light compared to reference image, enabling real-time race-tracing rendering.

  • It is noticeable that the number of newly registered Android applications increases rapidly. Such a recent trend indicates the Android platform is spreading globally. The ongoing platform upgrade might be one of the main reasons of the popularity of the Android mobile platform. Android platform 4.0 or later provides WiFi-Direct APIs that allow smart devices to communicate with each other without intermediate media. In this paper, we propose design and implementation techniques for small-scale impromptu meeting applications based on WiFi-Direct. The proposed meeting application can be used in a situation when one is difficult to connect the Internet. It also provides meeting data sharing capabilities, noting functionality, real-time remote screen control, and grouping of meeting participants. Our development results have demonstrated that the Android WiFi-Direct APIs can be effectively applied to impromptu conferencing mobile applications.

  • In this paper, a web-based, advanced education system for embedded systems have been implemented, which provide students reality through remote controlled experiment environment when they conduct experiments through web, in addition to the creative multimedia contents. Students can use the server-side remote experiment environment through telnet client using Java technology to conduct a variety of experiments on the embedded system remotely. Our system can be used as economical education tools for expensive experiment equipments in shared fashion through web as well as effective and convenient ones for embedded systems anywhere and anytime when internet access is available, compensating for lack in reality of virtual educations.
