A high-resolution seismic survey was conducted on the abandoned tidal flat in Shihwa Lake on the west coast of Korea. A portable vibrator was used as a seismic source and 217 shot gathers with 48-channel system were acquired. F-k filtering, residual static corrections and post-stack frequency filtering are found to be useful for signal enhancement. The overburden is divided into two seismic depositional units. Unit I is deposited in tidal environment characterized by parallel and high continuity reflection pattern. This unit comprises a dry layer (Unit Ia) and a wet layer (Unit Ib) having averagely 5 and 15 meters thick, respectively. Unit II unconformably overlain by Unit I exhibits discontinuity and hummocky reflection pattern, indicating complex channel-fill sediments in estuary. The maximum thickness of this unit is approximately 20 meter. Acoustic basement is considered as Precambrian granitic gneiss occurred in the surrounding area.
This paper proposes automatic precision approach radar (PAR) control system using digital signal to increase the safety of aircraft, and discrete event systems specification (DEVS) methodology is utilized to verify the proposed system. Traditionally, a landing aircraft is controlled by the human voice of a final approach controller. However, the voice information can be missed during transmission, and pilots may also act improperly because of incorrectness of auditory signals. The proposed system enables the stable operation of the aircraft, regardless of the pilot's capability. Communicating DEVS (C-DEVS) is used to analyze and verify the behavior of the proposed system. A composed C-DEVS atomic model has overall composed discrete state sets of models, and the state sequence acquired through full state search is utilized to verify the safeness and the liveness of a system behavior. The C-DEVS model of the proposed system shows the same behavior with the traditional PAR control system.

High-speed high-resolution terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) is demonstrated using the asynchronous-opticalsampling (AOS) method. A time-domain signal with a 10-ns time window is rapidly acquired by using two femtosecond lasers with slightly different repetition frequencies to generate and detect a terahertz pulse wave, without a mechanical delay stage. The spectrum obtained by the fast Fourier transformation (FFT) of the time-domain waveform has a frequency resolution of 100 MHz. The time resolution of our spectrometer is measured using the cross-correlation method to be 278 fs. A transmission spectrum of water vapor is measured and the absorption lines are analyzed in the frequency range from 0.1 to 1.2 THz.

In this paper, CDD(Cyclic Delay Diversity)-DF(Decode-and-Forward)-Relay scheme is proposed for MC-CDMA(Multicarrier-Code Division Multiple Access) systems over multipath Rayleigh fading channels. The advantages of general DF schemes come at the expense of the spectral efficiency since the source and all the relays must transmit on orthogonal channels. In order to mitigate this disadvantage of general DF schemes, we have applied CDD techniques to each relays so that all the relays can transmit on single channel. It means that all R-D link channels can be considered as a single channel which is widely delay spread. Namely, it causes the increasing the number of multipath so that the frequency diversity gain can be achieved in MC-CDMA systems. By simulations, we have compared proposed one with general DF scheme. Therefore, it is confirmed that the proposed one can be a possible solution to achieve cooperative diversity gain without a reduction of spectral efficiency.

In shallow water environment, the detection performance of an active sonar using matched filter with LFM(linear frequency modulation) pulse can be seriously degraded by reverberation which is considered as non-white noise. To reduce the effect of reverberation, a whitening filter preceding the matched fitter, is usually adopted. In the conventional pre-whitening filter, it is assumed that local stationarity is preserved between detection block and its right ahead block. And then by using the characteristics of the reverberation of preceding block, the reverberation of detection block is estimated and whitened. According to the environment of shallow water, the stationarity of reverberation may be preserved for more blocks. In this case, the reverberation of the detection block can be estimated more accurately if more blocks are used. In this paper, the real reverberation signal which is obtained from shallow sea is analyzed and its proper region of estimation block is examined. And the performance of pre-whitening matched filter is compared and analyzed according to the region of estimation block.

Recently, various recording technologies are studied for optical data storage. After standardization of BD (Blu-ray Disc) and HD-DVD (High-Definition Digital Versatile Disc), the industry is looking for a suitable technology for next generation optical data storage. Super-RENS (Super-Resolution Near Field Structure) technique, which is capable of compatibility with other systems, is one of next optical data storage. In this paper, we proposed a neural network-based nonlinear equalizer (NNEQ) for Super-RENS discs. To mitigate the nonlinear ISI (Inter-Symbol Interference), we applied NARX (Nonlinear AutoRegressive eXogenous) which is a kind of neural networks. Its validity is tested with the RF signal samples obtained from a Super-RENS disc. The performance of the proposed equalizer is superior to the one without equalization and that of the Limit-EQ in terms of BER (Bit Error Rate).

Because output of multi-code CDMA system adapted high speed data transmission becoming multi-level system use linear amplifier in output stage and complex output signal. Therefore, Multi-Code CDMA system has shortcoming of high price, high complexity etc.. Binary CDMA technology that allow fetters in existing CDMA technology to supplement this shortcoming proposed. In binary CDMA system When correlator process high speed data, bottle-neck phenomenon is happened on synchronization acquisition process, it is very important parameter. Because existent correlator must there be advantage that power consumption is small but flow addition of several stages to receive correlation's value, the processing speed has disadvantage because the operation amount is much. Therefore in this paper, proposed correlator has characteristic such as data is able to high speed processing, chip area is independent and power consumption is constant in structure in binary CDMA system.

In this paper we implement computer simulation system of 4FSK signal MODEM using Quadrature detector and analyze overall tranceiver system. We follow the FLEX wireless paging system standards and construct premodulation filter and data frame. We propose an efficient open loop symbol timing recovery algorithm which takes advantage of 128 bit length preamble pattern and also propose a 32 bit UW pattern which Is based on the optimal UW detection method, and excellent aperiodic autocorrelation characteristic. The BER simulation in the fading channel as well as AWGN is performed with BCH coding and Interleaving to the Quadrature detector system and it is shown that a high coding fain occurs in the fading channel rather than AWGN channel.

Five kinds of modified electrode arrays were proposed to overcome the weak points of the commonly used arrays using dipole and/or pole in two-dimensional resistivity surveys. The modified pole-pole array was suggested to overcome the inefficiency caused by distant earthing in pole-pole array. Four kinds of modified arrays using dipole were designed to enhance the signal-to-noise ratio of the conventional dipole-dipole and pole-dipole arrays through boosting up the measured potential difference. In the numerical experiments using the two-dimensional modeling and inversion, the effects of the ambient electrical noise and the resolving power were examined and the results showed the validity of the modified arrays proposed in this study.
Airborne transient electromagnetic (ATEM) surveying was introduced several decades ago in the mining industry to detect shallow conductive targets. However, conventional ATEM systems have limited depth of investigation because of weak signal strength. Recently, the grounded electrical source airborne transient electromagnetic (GREATEM) system was proposed to increase the depth of investigation. The GREATEM is a semi-airborne transient electromagnetic system because a long grounded wire is used as the transmitter. Traditionally, ATEM sounding data have been interpreted with 1D earth models to save the computing time because modern ATEM systems generally collect large data sets. However, the GREATEM 1D modeling requires numerical integration along the wire, so it takes much more time than the 1D modeling of conventional ATEM. In this study, the adaptive Born forward mapping (ABFM) was applied to the ATEM 1D modeling because the ABFM is incommensurably faster than the ordinary GREATEM 1D modeling. Comparing the results from ordinary and ABFM 1D modeling, it was confirmed that the ABFM can be applied to the 1D modeling of GEATEM.
