A Case Study on the Economic Analysis for an Advanced Technology-Based HYAC System Using LCC Technique (LCC 기법을 이용한 신기술 냉 $\cdot$ 난방 공조설비 시스템의 경제성 분석에 관한 사례연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to assess economic effects for an advanced technology-based HVAC system. The study has been performed using LCC technique for the economic analysis. Data for LCC analysis are collected from estimation and interview of estimators and maintenance experts of buildings. Based on the LCC analysis, the economic effect of a new HVAC system has been predicted as follows : for the investment during 15 years of study period, (1) $21.6\%$ of LCC saving is predicted, (2) return rate for the investment is 4.8 times in case of new construction, and 14.4 times in case of building remodelling.

  • Demolition work is a precedence activity that is performed earlier than other remodeling activities. And demolition work is one of the critical path activities. So, demolition work is needed for systematic plan and management. However, contractors of the remodeling project established a rough plan and did not consider recycling wastes, safety of workers and structural stable of building. To improve this problem, a eco-friend process model of remodeling project is needed to be established. The process model is composed of five phases; 1) survey and analysis of general condition of demolition work, 2) prepare documents of demolition work 3) establishing demolition work plan, 4) demolition and inspection, 5) post-demolition management. Especially, demolition documents are based on establishing WBS, selecting the equipment and method, waste management and structure reinforcement. A process model of eco-friend demolition work is developed by using IDEF0 method.

  • Recently our country need to change about hospital building operation and business change. The recent real estate development projects are made in very complex due to the diversity of development method or its legal aspects. Under such a real estate investment, the review of investment yield rate is fundamentally important for the one that invests and the one that finances it. Previously, the focus was in the review of the time to turn the surplus or the plan for making repayment of the borrowings, and without the analysis of sufficient investment yield rate. For a simple issue of finding the most advantageous project method, there is a need for reviewing the taxation issues, fund procurement method, legal aspects, policy analysis aspects and others. Therefore, the real estate investment is now likely to encounter the form of having the time of venture as well. In conclusion, the scientific and reasonable decision making in investing on the real estate does not suggest the absolute evaluation standard but the need and the use are more and more demanded.

  • This paper presents a scheduling technique that reflects various constraints in remodeling project of inhabited condition. The remodeling project of inhabited condition is required more detailed planning and control due to claims by noise, vibration, dust, smells, limited lift capacity, and limited temporary stock area. Because of the constraints, complexity in scheduling is increased and earlier completion is required to reduce the possibility of safety and environment accidents. Especially, in case of inhabited condition, the scheduling should be linked day-time/night-time/weekend work. This paper proposes a structured scheduling technique to incorporate those constraints in remodeling of inhabited condition. This scheduling technique considers not only remodeling process but also dismantling, newly-construction, and residents movement. Process expression method using MS-Project also presented to keep connectivity with existing scheduling system.

  • "Eco-friendly construction" is an emerging issue in the building industry. Main purpose of the eco-friendly construction is to sustain the health and environment of building residents and to minimize the harmful effect on their environment. Apartment residents have great concern on eco-product, since many cases are reported that Sick Building Syndrome is caused by toxic substance from building materials. Environmental performance is to meet through using the highest grade eco-friendly materials. However, generally eco-friendly materials are more expensive than normal materials, Therefore, using eco-friendly materials at public housing project is limited to economical aspect. The purpose of this paper is development of eco-friendly material selection model considered cost efficiency. The selection of Eco-friendly finishing materials and their methods are constructed to consider environmental performance level and cost index compositively. Development of eco-friendly material selection method is economic and reasonable one when public housing is constructed.

  • Recently, deformation of operating railway structures has occurred due to adjacent excavation works such as new structures and utility tunnel expansion concentrated around downtown areas. However, most of them are focused on structural review, repair and reinforcement of structures. A review of the Track is insufficient. In particular, in the case of the gravel track on the earthwork subgrade, the subgrade and the ballast are not solidified. A slight level of deformation can cause ballast relaxation. Sleeper support conditions may lead to unstable conditions. Sufficient safety must be ensured. In addition, it is a track type with a high risk of train derailment due to unstable support conditions. In this study, the correlation between the deformation characteristics of gravel tracks and track support performance according to subgrade deformation is experimentally and analytically verified. In addition, an evaluation technique that can evaluate the condition of the gravel track and the track support stiffness is presented.

A Case Study on Fire Investigation for a Wood-Burning Stove in an Idyllic House (전원주택의 벽난로와 관련된 화재사례의 분석)

  • A fire broke out in a working wood-burning stove and destroyed an idyllic house about two years after it was built. This study analyzed data provided through the court by the fire station, police station, fire insurance investigation agency, house construction company, and wood-burning stove maker Based on the fire pattern of low-temperature long-term ignition that remained in the studs, the fire was found to be caused by the conduction of heat in the fire box to the studs of the wall next to the wood-burning stove. A fire simulation showed that the low-temperature long-term ignition of the studs next to the wood-burning stove occurred because a hole was not made for ventilation in the chimney.

  • 강원전문대학신축설계경기의 당선작이 지난 6월21일 발표되었다. 총 9개의 작품이 응모한 이번 설계경기에서는 주.엄앤드이건축사 사무소(이각표)와 주.종합건축사사무소 산(한광호)의 공동안이 당선작으로 선정되었으며 주.건축사사무소 원.시공.형제(정상원)와, 주,건축사종합건축사사무소(공순구)의 안이 각각 우수작으로 선정되었다. 이 설계경기는 강릉시 주문진의 주문진소속고등학교 4만 8천여평 부지의 기존교사동, 실습동 증축과 대학본관, 도서관 등을 비롯 부대시설을 건립하는 것으로, 한국교육개발원의 '강원전문대설립방안 및 중.장기발전계획연구'에 의거 전문대학의 설립이념 및 목적, 설치학과 및 학생정원, 시설확충계획의 반영, 옥외시설 오픈스페이스 등을 충분히 고려하여야하는 것을 기본 설계방향으로 잡았다. 이번 심사는 한봉기(기획관), 이중근(건설교통국장)과 강원대, 관동대, 삼척산업대, 춘천교육대의 건축 및 조경학과 교수 등 총 10명이 맡았다. 당선된 주.엄앤드이건축사사무소와, 주.종합건축사사무소 산의 공동안은 적절한 조닝캠퍼스 내외의 접근성양호와 보차분리와 토지이용계획의 우수 등 여러 부분에서 심사위원들의 높은 점수를 받았다.

  • Recently, an improved capacity for RC bridges is required by their deterioration or necessary to carry traffic increase. Strengthening is known as a better way to improve capacity of bridges than reconstructing in terms of economy. The surface bonded method, which is normally used with FRP material, has some advantages related to conveninent application and time-save among other strengthening methods. FRP material is light and has high tensile strength compared to steel. Therefore, this paper presents how structural capacity strengthed with CFRP sheet and Glass fiber-Steel Plate (GSP) is improved.
