Recognizing the contemporary critical situation of local newspapers in Korea, the present study purposed to consider plans to overcome such a crisis from various aspects and examine the possibility to implement the plans. Specific research question was plans to promote local newspapers on political and legislative dimension. The result of this study proved that the issue of activating local press must be discussed basically in conjunction with the implications and functions of power decentralization. This study also considered the opinion that so-called structural problems, which cannot be tackled by local newspaper, must be intervened in by the government on the dimension of promoting local newspapers politically and legislatively. In particular, the meaning of this study lies in that it was focused on supporting methods to prepare a bill for the special law of local newspaper promotion support, and proposed specific and practical plans.

This paper study about the Perception of Orient in Huangseong-Shinmun(皇城新聞). The Orient as a Non-Western is recognized as a geographical concept which represented Japanized culture and which breaked up Sinocentrism. Huangseong-Shinmun thought Korea, China, and Japan as the main countries which constitute Orient. And this paper regarded these three countries which is Yellow race are main area which countervail Western. Especially this paper thought Japan as the leading power which fulfilled Oriental peace. So Huangseong-Shinmun theorized nations of the same race, region and language(同種同州同文論). But Orientalism is just means which Japan used to rationalized the imperialistic invasion. Nevertheless Huangseong-Shinmun thought that periods are the era of racial competition. This is the limit Huangseong-Shinmun did'nt recognize the strategy which Japan concealed the imperialistic invasion.

This study is the result of the analysis on the user interface of the Korean internet newspapers. To investigate the user interfaces, the home pages of the 6 internet newspaper were selected as the samples. Then, the information procedures, designs. information presentations, and searching routines of that samples were analyzed. For the home-page design of the internet newspaper and the education of the article search by the journalist-librarian with the press or the librarian in common. the results of the paper will be helpful.

The Matter of vmbulary control for newspaper database has been studied for a long time. These efforts hadn't made any good achievements until JOINS Thesaurus system developed. The purpx of this paper is to introduce JOINS Thesaurus whch the Jcong-ang Daily News has developed for the first time in Korea. In addtion to that, thls study is corn- the efficiency of Auto-Indexing system with postcontrolled indexlng system for newspaper database on thesaurus.

"The Independent" first published in 1896 were monumental newspaper. "The Independent" were official organs of Independence Association. Foreign perception of the newspaper is anti Chinese, anti Russian, pro-Japan, pro-American. "The Independent" has criticized China and Russia that was Brutal developing countries of the invasion of Korea's sovereignty and to seize profits. The other side, "The Independent" has prised America and Japan that was unforgettable benefactor countries helped Korea's independence and have achieved Westernization exemplary developed countries.

인터넷의 발달과 인터넷 문화의 보편화로 인하여 사용자들은 폭발적으로 증가하는 다양한 정보를 접할 수 있게 되었으며, 자체 생산하거나 다른 신문사들로부터 생산된 기사들을 단순 유통, 링크를 통하여 정보검색 사이트들뿐만 아니라 각종 포털 사이트, 인터넷신문사들은 많은 다양한 경로로 기사를 제공할 수 있게 되었다. 이에 따라 인터넷산문을 규정하고 법적, 테두리에 넣기 위한 법률이 제정되었으며, 인터넷신문사에 대해 기사의 자체 생산량이라는 요건 검증에 대한 요구가 증가하고 있다. 본 논문은 인터넷신문 자체기사 생산량을 측정하기 위해 필요한 기술들을 조사하고 타당성을 검토하여 이에 적합한 기술을 제시한다. 제시한 방법은 대량의 기사의 비교를 빠른 시간에 수행한 수 있도록 하기 위해 인간의 단어 인지와 관련한 경험적 정보의 반영을 통하여 변형한 편집거리 기반 방법이다. 제시하는 방법의 정확성을 검증하기 위해 실제 소량의 인터넷 신문 기사를 대상으로 실험하였다.

스포츠선수들에 대한 섹슈얼리티는 '유니폼 관련 섹슈얼리티', '선수의 신체적 특징 관련 섹슈얼리티', '외모 관련 섹슈얼리티' 요인으로 구성되었다. 인터넷신문의 스포츠영상에 묘사된 섹슈얼리티가 인터넷신문의 이용자에게 미치는 영향에 대한 분석에서는 남자 실험집단에서만 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 남자집단의 피실험집단과 남녀경기 처치집단 간 차이가 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 인터넷신문의 스포츠영상에 묘사된 섹슈얼리티에 대한 인지도는 남자집단의 피실험집단에 비해 남녀경기 처치집단이 더 높은 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 인터넷신문의 스포츠영상에 묘사된 섹슈얼리티는 남성스포츠 소비자들에게 더 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 볼 수 있다.

매일 생성되는 웹 신문에서 독자가 접해보지 못한 단어는 독자의 이해를 돕기 위하여 괄호를 사용한다. 괄호를 사용하여 표기된 웹 신문의 한국어-영어 대역쌍은 특정 기사에는 출현빈도가 낮지만 전체적으로 여러 신문의 기사를 봤을 때, 최소한 한번 이상 출현하게 된다. 즉, 괄호 안의 동일한 영어 용어 두 개 이상의 문장을 최장일치법 알고리즘에 적용하면 한국어 단어 경계를 자동으로 인식할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 이런 웹 신문의 괄호 표기 특성을 이용하여 한-영 대역어쌍을 추출하는 방법을 제안한다. 웹 신문 기사 43,648 건에서 최대 2,087개의 한-영 대역어를 추출하였다. 3 개의 서로 다른 테스트 그룹으로 실험한 결과 최대 84.2%의 정확도를 보였다.
