Effects of the Limited Nutrient Supply at the Pollination Stage on the Growth and Nutrient Uptake of Muskmelon Grown in Rockwool (온실멜론의 암면재배에 있어서 수분기의 양분공급제한이 생육 및 양분흡수에 미치는 영향)

  • 본 실험은 온실멜론을 암면재배하여 수분전후 21일간 질소공급제한이 생육, 품질 및 양분흡수에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다 가을과 겨울재배에서는 상당히 고농도의 양분을 흡수하는 시기이기 때문에 시즈오카대 처방(NO$_3$-N = 8me/$\ell$)을 이용하여 재배하고 양분도 제한했기 때문에 식물체는 양분부족 현상을 야기하였다. 교배 후 양분흡수를 제한하는 경우 상위엽의 과잉비대를 방지하였으나 초장과 과실의 생체증은 양분공급을 제한하지 않는 경우에 크게 나타났다. 그 원인은 양분공급을 제한하는 기간 및 시기와 시용배양액 농도 차이에 따른 양분흡수량의 차이라고 생각되었다. 이상으로부터 수분기에는 양분흡수량이 많기 때문에 양분공급을 제한하지 않고 양분공급을 증가시키는 편이 과실의 외관, 품질향상 및 과실의 당도향상에 상당히 기여할 것으로 생각되었다.

Community Formation Comparison of Herbaceous Perennials planted on Urban Stream Levee Slope (도시하천 제방사면에 식재한 다년생 초본류의 군락 형성 비교)

  • In order to investigate community formation ability, herbaceous perennials such as Miscanthus sacchariflorus Bentham, Miscanthus sinensis var. purpurascens Rendle, Imperata cylindrica Linne, Pennisetum alopecuroides (L.) Spreng. and Arundinella hirta Tanaka were planted in April 2009 at the levee slope of Gwangju Stream in South Korea. Miscanthus sacchariflorus Bentham, Miscanthus sinensis var. purpurascens Rendle, Imperata cylindrica Linne and Pennisetum alopecuroides (L.) Spreng. which grew in pots for two years and divided rhizomes of Arundinella hirta Tanaka gathered from fields were employed. Weeds growing on the experiment sites were removed twice a year until 2011 when the plant species were formed into community. Weeds were not eradicated during 2012 and 2013 to observe community sustainability of the species. T-tests on stem numbers and heights in May, July and September were conducted between 2011 and 2012, and between 2012 and 2013. Stem numbers of the five species in 2012 were significantly reduced(p<0.001) compared with those in 2011, which were attributed to weed growth in 2012. Heights of Miscanthus sinensis var. purpurascens Rendle, Imperata cylindrica Linne, Pennisetum alopecuroides (L.) Spreng. and Arundinella hirta Tanaka in 2012 were significantly lower than those in 2011(p<0.001), which resulted from weed invasion. Heights of Miscanthus sacchariflorus Bentham in May and July 2012 were significantly decreased compared with those in 2011(p<0.001), however, heights of Miscanthus sacchariflorus Bentham in September 2012 were almost the same as those in 2011(p>0.05). Miscanthus sacchariflorus Bentham was able to compete against weeds in September 2012. Stem numbers and heights of Miscanthus sacchariflorus Bentham, Miscanthus sinensis var. purpurascens Rendle, Imperata cylindrica Linne and Pennisetum alopecuroides (L.) Spreng. in 2013 were similar to those in 2012(p>0.05). However, stem numbers and heights of Arundinella hirta Tanaka in 2013 were significantly decreased compared with those in 2012(p<0.001). After community formation, Miscanthus sacchariflorus Bentham, Miscanthus sinensis var. purpurascens Rendle, Imperata cylindrica Linne and Pennisetum alopecuroides (L.) Spreng. were able to maintain its community without weed removal. However, Arundinella hirta Tanaka was unable to establish its community due to the weed growth. Miscanthus sacchariflorus Bentham, Miscanthus sinensis var. purpurascens Rendle, Imperata cylindrica Linne are more suitable to stream levee slope environment in terms of community formation and maintenance, stream landscape enhancement and slope erosion control.

Effects of Shading on the Growth of Hedera rhombea Bean and Pachysandra terminalis Sieb. et Zucc. (차광수준이 송악과 수호초의 생육에 미치는 효과)

  • This experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of different levels of shading (0, 35, 55, 75, 95% to incident sunlight) on the growth of Hedera rhombea Bean and Pachysandra terminalis Sieb. et Zucc. in order to determine optimum light intensity for ground cover plants. H. rhombea showed a upright growth type under 95% shading and P. terminalis was highest under 35% shading. Number of branches was not significantly affected by shading levels. Stem diameter and length were reduced under shading from 35% to 95%. Leaf growth was vigorous under 35% and 55% shade condition. Leaves became longer with decreasing light intensity, but shorter in 95% shading than control. There was a slight trend that total chlorophyll and chlorophyll a, b contents increased with decreasing light intensity, and so did chlorophyll a/b ratio. Fresh and dry weight of both plants were higher under 35, 55, and 75% shading than control and 95% shading. Specific leaf weight tended to decrease with reduction of light intensity. Thus, optimum light intensity for growth of them may be 35 and 55% shading of incident sunlight. In addition, it is possible to grow them under even 75% shading of incident sunlight.

Effects of Abscisic acid on Ozone Injury in Rice (벼의 오존피해 경감에 미치는 ABA의 효과)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the effects or abscisic acid (ABA), three concentrations, on growth, activities of antioxidant-related enzymes and grain yield of two rice plants (Oryza sativa L. cv. Hwamyungbyeo and cv. Namchunbyeo) exposed to ozone (0.150 ppm) for 6 hours a day for 30 days. The leaf chlorop0hyll contents, plant height, and tillering numbers were not shown significant difference. But ABA 10$^{-5}$ M treatment affects to growth slightly. In all concentrations of ABA, superoxide dismutase (SOB) activities were increased at tillering stage of Namchunbyeo which was exposed to ozone. It is considered that the optimum concentration of ABA is 10$^{-5}$ M for minimizing loss of grain yield loss.

Effect of Inabenfide and Nitrogen Top-Dressing on Ethylene Evolution and Lodging in Rice (질소추비와 생장조정제 Inabenfide 처리가 벼 도복 및 에틸렌 발생에 미치는 영향)

  • This experiment was carried out in the green house at Tokyo University of Agriculture in 1992 to investigate the relationship between lodging resistances and specific morphological characters and to examine the effects of nitrogen top-dressing and growth retardant on changes of the endogenous ethylene content in rice plant. Inabenfide did not affect significantly yield, yield component, chlorophyll content, and $CO_2 assimilation but, decreasing plant height when growth regulators were applied at booting stage, decreasing internode elongation, and increasing culm thickness and diameter of the third and fourth internode. While, nitrogen top-dressing usually showed to effect increasing vegetative growth such as plant height, tiller number, and morphological characteristics but, were not significantly affected the chlorophyll content and $CO_2 assimilation. Ethylene evolution was dramatically changed with nitrogen top-dressing and growth retardant. Application of Inabenfide at 15 days before heading inhibited ethylene evolution in the all nitrogen levels. Higher nitrogen top-dressing showed higher ethylene evolution than that of low nitrogen level. High positive correlation was detected between nitrogen application and ethylene evolution.

Growth Control in 'New Guinea' Impatiens (Impatiens hawkeri hybrida) by Treatments of Plant Growth Retardants and Triazole Fungicides (식물생장억제제와 Triazole계 살균제 처리에 의한 'New Guinea' 임파첸스(Impafiens hawkeri hybrida)의 생육조절)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the effect of plant growth retardants (daminozide, chlormequat, uniconazole, paclobutrazole) and fungicides of triazole chemical (hexaconazole, microbutanil, difenoconazole, terbuconazole, bitertanol) on the growh of 'New Guinea' impatiens. Plant height and canopy were decreased by all kinds of plant growth retardants tested in both 'Anguilla' and 'Papete'. Especially, uniconazole and paclobutrazole were most effective in inhibition of top growth. However, the content of chlorophyll increased at all treatments of plant growth retardants and stem diameter tended to be increased at the highest concentration of all kinds of plant growth retardants tested. The results in all cultivars tested, with the experiment of triazole fungicides, were similar to the results of experiment with plant growth retardants. These results suggest that fungicides of triazole chemical such as hexaconazole, microbutanil, difenoconazole, terbuconazole and bitertanol can be used for the promotion of quality in potted 'New Guinea' impatiens.

In vitro Long Term Conservation of Potato Germplasms (감자 유전자원의 기내 장기보존 방법)

  • This study was carried out to establish the in vitro culture system of potato germplasms for minimizing the occurrence of variation and maximizing the culture period. We used osmoticum such as sorbitol or mannitol with sucrose in the absence of plant growth regulators. The growth of potato germplasms in the medium containing osmoticum was increased when the growth temperature was lowered. After six months storage in low temperature, plant heights of tetraploid was somewhat higher than those of diploid with the exception of stn-16 and the difference due to media was not observed. But after twelve months storage, survival rates of plants cultured in LSM 1(sucrose and sorbitol) was higher than those of plants cultured in LSM 2(sucrose and mannitol). The survival rate of stn-16, diploid wild species, was approximately 75% and it was considerably high. In Atlantic, tetraploid cultivated variety, every individual was survived.

Variation of Characteristics and Photosynthetic Rates among the Species of Leaf Mustard (Brassica juncea) (갓 품종간의 형질 및 광합성 변이)

  • The total photosynthetic rate in leaf mustard lines, which was calculated as the sum of the photosynthetic rate and the respiration rate, was not significantly different from their photosynthetic rate. Plant height, standing of rosetteness, showed a similar change to its specific leaf area (SLA). With increasing the plant height, leaf density increased and leaf color was lighter. It was found that shoot dry weight of leaf mustard was more affected by respiration. Also, it was hypothesized that respiration occurred not only in the leaf but also the stem. It was found that mustard lines whose leaf density was low showed a higher shoot growth. From this result, it was concluded that selection of a leaf mustard line with a larger SLA and lower leaf thickness could be effective in increasing photosynthetic rate.

Effect of Plant Growth Regulators on in vitro Cultured Atractylodes Hybrid 'Dachul' (A. macrocephala x A. japonica) (기내배양 백출 교잡종 '다출'(Dachul, Atractylodes macrocephala x A. japonica)에 미치는 생장조절제처리효과)

  • This study was conducted to establish the tissue culture system for Atractylodes plant which is most frequently used in oriental medicine. Root and auxiliary bud of Dachul cv., which is Atractylodes hybrid (A. macrocephala x A. japonica), were used as target tissues for in vitro culture. In root culture, callus induction rate was higher in the treatment of BAP combined with NAA than others, however, 2-iP was more effective for callus proliferation and root induction. Although calli were effectively induced from the root and proliferated in lower concentration of cytokinin combined with higher auxin, root tissue was inappropriate for shoot regeneration. For plant regeneration with axillary bud, BAP combined with NAA was more effective than 2-iP with NAA or IBA. Number of regenerated plant per bud was 3.8, which was highest, and stem diameters was shown as 5.0mm under the conditions of 1 mg/L BAP combined with 1 mg/L NAA. Although, plant height was tend to be higher in 2-iP than BAP, number of the regenerated plant was lower via versus. Furthermore, root proliferation of regenerated plant was more effective in higher concentration of sucrose (7%) than in lower concentration (3%). In results, auxiliary bud was an efficient target tissue for producing regenerated plant of Atractylodes under the conditions of 1 mg/L BAP combined with 1 mg/L NAA and higher concentration of sucrose was effective for root proliferation of regenerated plants.

Several Factors Affecting Cultivation of Ground-cover Plants on Lysimachia mauritiana Lam. (갯까치수염(Lysimachia mauritiana Lam.)의 지피식물용 재배생산에 영향을 미치는 몇가지 요인)

  • 갯까치수염은 앵초목 앵초과의 두해살이풀로 지상부가 고사하지 않고, 월동 후 봄까지 뚜렷한 윤기가 흐르는 잎을 가지며, 7~8월에 흰색 꽃이 피는 관상성이 뛰어난 우리나라의 자원식물이다. 이에 신 관상소재로서의 품목개발을 위해 관상 및 조경산업용 가치가 큰 갯까치수염의 지피용 작물로서의 재배효과를 확인하기 위하여 2017년 7월 31일부터 10월 9일까지 약10주간 실험하였다. 이식묘의 소질별 생육효과, 기비의 시비와 혼합상토의 조성 및 포트의 크기 등의 이식조건, 차광처리 및 추비시비 등 재배관리에 대한 효과를 조사하였다. 종자로 육묘한 이식묘의 소질로서는 200구 트레이에서 한 cell 당 2립씩 파종된 유묘가 지피용 갯까치수염의 재배에 적합하였다. 이식조건으로 코트비료의 기비는 하지 않고, 마사토:피트모스(3:1) 혼합 용토에 $300-200-200mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$(N-P-K)의 비료분을 첨가한 토양을 충진한 4인치 포트에 이식하는 것이 생육에 가장 효과적이었다. 재배관리에는 차광처리를 하지 않고 배치하는 것이 50 및 70% 차광처리보다 초장, 엽수, 엽면적, 생체중 및 건물중 등 생육에 효과적이었다. 또한, $500mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ hyponex 추비처리를 한 것의 엽수가 36매로 다른 처리의 15~26매 보다 많았지만, 엽면적 및 생체중을 고려할 때 지피식물로서 10주간의 재배를 위해서는 추비하지 않는 것이 적합할 것으로 생각된다.
