Effect of Organic Matter Application on Inhibition of occurrence of Root Rot of Red Pepper (고추역병(疫病)에 대(對)한 유기물시용(有機物施用) 효과)

  • Results as follows are obtained from the pot experiment to examine effect of application of organic substances on inhibition of occurrence of root rot of red pepper. 1. As for effects of applicating organic materials on inhibition of red pepper root rot, it is more effective to apply in autumn than to apply in summer, when the temperature is high. In addition, organic substance which is not decomposed completely such as rice straw is more effective than matured compost types. As for effects of applicating organic substances on composition of soil microorganisms, increase of fungi and bacteria in view of numbers is remarkable, especially in case of applying rice straw. 2. From the examination of Phytophthora capsici in soil at the 1st cultivation period in autumn, no P. capsici can be isolated in early stage of growth of red pepper in nontreated soil and in soil applied compost. However, as the time goes on, P. capsici are detected. While in early stage of cultivation, P. capsici are detected in soil applied with rice straw, P. capsici are not isolated after middle stage of cultivation. 3. It is recognized that there are many differences according to the types of organic materials applied in the result of identification of fungi in each treatment. And, proportion of antagonistic fungi to total fungi in soil applied rice straw is proved to be significantly higher compared to other treatments.

Study on the Application Method of Fertilizers and Leaves and Stems of Irish Potato on Rice Crop Cultivated After Potato (감자후작 벼에 대한 감자경엽 및 비료 사용 방법 개선에 관한 연구)

  • The study was carried out to find out the reasonable fertilization method for rice in the area of Irish potato cultivated paddy where has various nutritional disorders and pest problems. The treatment consisted of three different application methods of potato sterns and leaves with 4 levels of nitrogen application in each method. The application of potato sterns and leaves caused more release of $NH_4$ -N in the soils but the growth of rice were slightly hindered by the strongly reduced soil conditions when the nitrogen had been applied more than 10kg/10a. The application of half-dried or semi-decomposed stems and leaves of potatoes were caused to increase ripening ratio and 1,000 grain weight of rice with a relatively high $SiO_2$/N ratio in the rice plant, so the yield of rice increased 3-5% than the plot without potato sterns and leaves. The potash and silicate fertilizer would seem to be effective in the area of Irish potato cultivating paddy field since the contents of extractable potassium and soluble silicate in the soils is lacked. The suitable amount of nitrogen on rice cropping seems to be about 7kg/10a.

  • The lysimeter ($1.2m\;with{\times}1.6m\;length$) experiment using $^{15}N$ tracer method was conducted to investigate the influence of slopes (degree 5, 15 and 30%) and fertilizer application methods (solid application and fertigation) on the behavior of applied urea in saprolite piled highland with Chinese cabbage cultivation. NDFFs(nitrogen derived from fertilizer) in soil were increased with decreasing of degree of slope and of depth of soil. The recovery as percentage of fertilizer nitrogen by Chinese cabbage were 69.5% for solid application and 76.5% for fertigation in 5% slope, 65.0% for solid application and 70.2% for fertigation in 15% slope, and 56.1% for solid application and 62.3% for fertigation in 30% slope. There, fertigation will make great contributions to the reduction of environmental contamination by run off and to the increase of fertilizer efficiency in Chinese cabbage cultivated highland.

Effects of Lime Application on the Growth of Alfalfa(Medicago sativa L.) (석회시용(石灰施用)이 Alfalfa(Medicago sativa L.) 생육(生育)에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • Effects of lime application levels(0, 10, 50, 100, and 300kg/10a) on three alfalfa cultivars(Dekalb brand 120, Pike, Pioneer brand 5929) were analyaed with respect to the growth, dry matter yield, and inorganic composition of the plants at three cutting periods. Major chemical properties of the soils were also analyzed. Response of the plant height to the lime application level was variable among the cultivars, showing the order of 50>100>300>10>0kg/10a in Dekalb brand 120, 50>100>10>300>0kg/10a in Pike, and 10>50>300>0>100kg/10a in Pioneer brand 5929. The order of dry matter yield response to the lime application level was 50>300>100>10>0kg/10a in Dekalb brand 120, 50>10>300>100>0kg/10a in Pike, and 50>100>10>0>300kg/10a in Pioneer brand 5929. Total dry matter yields at 50kg/10a lime application level were higher than those at any other levels in all the cultivars. Neither a specific pattern nor a significant change in inorganic composition of the plant was found for the lime application levels and cutting times, Soil chemical properties and composition remained with little change after the experiment except the soil pH, which was increased with the lime application level.

  • The higher fertilizer application level and frequency of additional fertilizer increase the higher the growing characters of plant height, No. of leaves, No. of stem per plant, and No. of ears per main stem, etc., appeared. The yield characters of No. of grains per plant, percentage of threshing, weight of 1 $\ell$, weight of 100 grains and seed yield per 10a appeared high both in used N 14kg, 40% as the basic dressing, 30% as the 1st top dressing, 20% as the 2nd top dressing and 10% as the 3rd top dressing, and in used N 18kg as the total amount of basic dressing. Dispersion analysis showed the difference of significant level according to the interactions, among fertilizer application levels, among fertilizational methods, and between fertilizer application and fertilizational method.

  • 강원도 고랭지는 채소 재배지로 그 이용 면적이 매년 급속히 증가하고 있다. 금한 경사와 집중적으로 발생하는 장마철의 폭우는 토양 유실은 물론이고 토양 비옥도의 심각한 저하를 초래할 위험이 경작의 강도와 범위가 넓어짐에 따라 더욱더 증가하고 있다. 또한 험한 지형에 따른 기계화 영농의 어려움과 이에 수반하는 노동력의 낭비로 문제점을 제기한다. 채소 작물 재배를 위해 많이 사용하는 요소 비료, 황산암모늄 비료와 함께 특별히 수지(resin)를 피막 처리한 복합비료를 가지고 배추의 생장과 토양에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 수지 피막처리는 각각 7, 10, 15%의 비율로 혼합했다. 배추의 수량은 실험에 사용된 비료간에 큰 차이가 없었다. 요소와 황산암모늄은 기본 시비와 함께 2차례 추비를 하였고 수지 피막 복합 비료는 단 한번 초기에 시비하였다. 따라서 이 경우 노동력 절감과 토양 환경 교란의 최소화를 달성할 수 있었으므로 완효성의 수지 피막 처리 비료가 바람직한 것으로 나타났다. 토양에 미치는 효과는 비료의 종류간에 별다른 차이가 없었으나 인산$(P_2O_5)$의 토양내 축적 현상이 t지 피막 처리 복합 비료 시용 구에서 뚜렷하게 조사되었다. 일반적으로 화학 비료의 시용은 토양 반응(pH)의 저하를 초래하였다.

Behavior of ^{14}C$--BHC Residues in Rice Grain (미곡에 있어서 ^{14}C$-BHC 잔류분의 행동)

  • ${\gamma}$-(U-$^{14}$ C)-BHC was applied to rice plants grown in a pot and its fate in the growth, polishing and oil-extraction processes of the grain was investigated. The $^{14}$ C-activity was absorbed and translocated widely in the plant and the recovery of applied $^{14}$ C-activity in the straw and grain was about 2.8%, of which 9.4% was found in the brown rice. The % partitioning of $^{14}$ C-residues in bran and polished rice was 12:88 and that in oil and oilcake was 37 : 63. Characterization of $^{14}$ C-residues indicated the presence of ${\gamma}$-BHC, pentachlorocyclohexene, trichlorobenzene and hydrophilic metabolites, whose proportions were different in the straw and grain.

Effects of Mixed Application of Chemical Fertilizer with Liquid Swine Manure on Agronomic Characteristics, Yield and Feed Value of Sorghum × Sorghum Hybrid for Silage in Paddy Field Cultivation (논 토양에서 사일리지용 수수 × 수수 교잡종 재배시 화학비료와 발효 돈분 액비 혼용 시용이 생육특성 및 영양성분에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the influence of the mixed application of chemical fertilizer (CF) with liquid swine manure (LSM) on the agronomic characteristics, dry matter yield, minerals, and free sugar in cultivating Sorghum ${\times}$ Sorghum Hybrid (SSH) on paddy soil. The field experiment was designed in a randomized block design with three replications and consisted of CF 100% (C), CF 70% + LSM 30% (T1), CF 50% + LSM 50% (T2), CF 30% + LSM 70% (T3), and LSM 100% treatment (T4). The application of LSM was based only on the nitrogen (150 kg/ha). Plant length, leaf length, leaf width and stem diameter were significantly the lower in T4 (p<0.05). Stem hardness increased significantly (p<0.05) as the LSM application rate decreased. Fresh yield was the highest in T2, whereas the lowest in T3 (p<0.05). However, dry matter yields and TDN yield did not show significant difference among treatments. Crude protein was the highest in T1 (p<0.05). Crude fat content did not significant differences between the T1, T2, T3 and T4, but C showed a significantly different (p<0.05). NDF and crude fiber were the highest in T3 and C, respectively (p<0.05). However, ADF did not show significant difference among treatments. Total mineral contents were higher in the order of T1> T2> T4> T3> C (p<0.05). Free sugar contents were significantly higher at T1 and C as compared to other treatments. The analysis of all the above results suggests that the application of liquid swine manure is very effective, considering the yield performance and the content of mineral and free sugar. In addition, liquid swine manure may be possible to grow SSH without chemical fertilizer.

A Study on the Behavior of Surface-Applied Urea with $^{15}N$ Isotope Dilution Technique in Paddy Soil (논토양에서 중질소(N-15)를 이용한 표면시용 요소로부터 유래하는 질소의 행동에 관한 연구)

  • The pot experiment using $^{15}N$ isotope dilution technique was carried out to calculate the balance of nitrogen of surface applied urea in the rice-soil system. The $^{15}N$ concentration was determined by stable isotope ratio mass spcetrometer (model: VG ISO-GAS MM622). In the pots with $^{15}N$ labeled urea application at the rates of 15 and 30 kg N/10a, the percentage of nitrogen derived from fertilizer (NDFF) in rice was higher at the rate of 30 kg N/10a (average 89%) than at the rate of 15 kg N/10a (average 64%). However, the recovery as percentage of fertilizer N by rice was higher at the rate of 15 kg N/10a (65.5%) than at the rate of 30 kg N/10a (54.2%). The percentage of the fertilizer N remained in extractable inorganic N form at the rates of 15 and 30 kg N/10a were $13.5%\;(NH_4-N\;5.53%,\;NO_3-N\;7.99%)$ and $16.5%\;(NH_4-N\;7.49%,\;NO_3-N\;8.98%)$ in unplanted soil, and $2.0%\;(NH_4-N\;0.63%,\;NO_3-N\;1.32%)$ and$2.3%\;(NH_4-N\;0.87%,\;NO_3-N\;1.40%)$ in soil planted to rice, respectively. The dominant form of inorganic-N in soil after harvest was $NO_3-N$ form rather than $NH_4-N$ form regardless of urea application rate or rice cultivation. The percentage of the fertilizer N remained in organic N form at the rates of 15 and 30 kg N/10a were 65.0 and 41.8% in unplanted soil, and 23.7 and 26.9% in soil planted to rice, respectively. In conclusion, the efficiency of surface-applied urea was greater at the rate 15 kg N/10a than at the rate of 30 kg N/10a.

Estimation of Soybean N Fraction Derived from N Sources by $^{15}N$ in Soybean Cultivation with Rye as Green Manure (호밀녹비 이용 시 중질소($^{15}N$)를 이용한 질소원 유래별 콩의 집적질소 분획추정)

  • Winter season cultivation of rye as green manure for soybean have been a favorite with farmer because it could remove a risk of injury by continuous cropping and increase N uptake and yield of soybean. Effects of rye green manure on soybean N uptake, $N_2$ fixation and yield were investigated with $^{15}N$ as pot experiment in greenhouse in 2004 and field in 2005, respectively. The N derived from N fertilizer ($^{15}N$) in rye green manure increased with increasing of N fertilizer rate compared to N derived from soil. N uptake and DM yield of soybean at the pot with paddy soil was higher than those at the pot with upland soil mainly due to the increase of N uptake from paddy soil. Total $^{15}N$ recovery in soil was higher at rye green manure than no green manure because $^{15}N$ applied to rye plant was remained highly as soil organic N compared to chemical N fertilizer. $^{15}N$ recovery in soybean plant increased in proportion to amounts of N fertilizer applied to rye. The N fractions from $N_2$ fixation of soybean plant at the pot experiment in 2004 ranged from 92% to 95%, on the other hand those in field experiment in 2005 ranged from 82% to 84%. Estimation of amount of $N_2$ fixation was not different between Difference method and $^{15}N$ method in 2004 and 2005.
