Deep Learning-based Gaze Direction Vector Estimation Network Integrated with Eye Landmark Localization (딥 러닝 기반의 눈 랜드마크 위치 검출이 통합된 시선 방향 벡터 추정 네트워크)

  • In this paper, we propose a gaze estimation network in which eye landmark position detection and gaze direction vector estimation are integrated into one deep learning network. The proposed network uses the Stacked Hourglass Network as a backbone structure and is largely composed of three parts: a landmark detector, a feature map extractor, and a gaze direction estimator. The landmark detector estimates the coordinates of 50 eye landmarks, and the feature map extractor generates a feature map of the eye image for estimating the gaze direction. And the gaze direction estimator estimates the final gaze direction vector by combining each output result. The proposed network was trained using virtual synthetic eye images and landmark coordinate data generated through the UnityEyes dataset, and the MPIIGaze dataset consisting of real human eye images was used for performance evaluation. Through the experiment, the gaze estimation error showed a performance of 3.9, and the estimation speed of the network was 42 FPS (Frames per second).

  • The starting point of this discussion resides in the 'eyes' of mirror in a sense of seeing the self reflected in a mirror. The meaning of mirror has been evolved over the centuries while strengthening its sense of identity by bringing up some questions for resemblance, reproduction, self-reflection and reality. A mirror has also extended its vision and provided with a range of images that the self can't have. In this regard, looking into a mirror has been a sustained focus of attention by creating another ostensible being of self-image. This shows the two sides of mirror, which reveals an ambiguous gap between substance and illusion. An excessive immersion in a reflected image in a mirror is intensified and expressed today. The eyes of mirror consisting of a complex dual structure show relations between a person who sees and a person who is seen, which draws a hazy line of demarcation between the subject and the object. This opens up the possibility of the world of chiasme, where you could face all the aspects being from the eyes of others. Furthermore, the meaning of the reflection in a mirror has formed a creative discourse as an enigmatic medium that creates a variety of 'eyes' in various forms of aesthetic expression like paintings and literature. I accordingly suggest that the 'eyes of mirror' is the ambiguous 'eyes of human being' reflected in two territories of the world. Therefore, I will present the historical development of the perspective on the mirror to take a concrete approach in which it opens up the reflective structure of resemblance through a series of examples projected onto the literary and artistic productions. This study will serve as ruminations on the fact that your life is being existent in 'chiasme' of mutual entanglement between the self and the world by investigating relations between a person who sees and a person who is seen, in other words, relations between the perceiving subject and the eyes of others reflected in a mirror.

Stereoscopic depth of surfaces lying in the same visual direction depends on the visual direction of surface features (표면 요소의 시선방향에 의한 동일시선 상에 놓여있는 표면의 입체시 깊이 변화)

  • When two objects are tying in the same visual direction there occurs abrupt depth change between two objects, which is against the assumption of the computational model for stereopsis on the surfaces in a natural scene. For this reason, this stimulus configuration is popularly used in the studies for the effectiveness of the constraints employed in the computational model. Contrary to the results from two nails (or objects) tying in the same visual direction, the two different surfaces from random-dot stereogram (RDS) in the same situation can be seen simultaneously in the different depth. The seemingly contradictory results between two situations my reflect the different strategies imposed by binocular mechanism for each situation during binocular matching process. Otherwise, the surfaces tying in the same visual direction is not equivalent situation to two objects tying in the same visual direction with regards to matching process. In order to examine above possibilities, the stereoscopic depth of the surface was measured after manipulating the visual direction of the surface elements. The visual direction of each dot pair from different surfaces in RDS (in Experiment 1) or the visual direction of line (hawing rectangle with regard to that of the vertical line (in Experiment 2) was manipulated. The stereoscopic depth of the surface was found to be varied depending on visual direction of the surface elements in both RDS and line hawing stimulus. Similar to the results from two nails situation depth of the surface was greatly reduced when each surface element was tying in the same visual direction as that of the other surface element or the other object. These results suggest that binocular mechanism imposes no different strategy in resolving correspondence problem in both two objects and two surfaces situation. And the results were discussed in the context of usefulness of the constraints employed in the computational model for stereopsis.

Radial Velocity and FWHM Spatial Distribution of [OIII] and H𝛽 Lines of the Type II Seyfert Galaxy Mrk 1 (제2형 세이퍼트 은하 Mrk 1의 [O III]와 H𝛽선의 시선 속도와 FWHM 공간 분포 연구)

  • We investigated the kinematic activity of the Type II Seyfert galaxy Mrk 1 based on H𝛽 and [O III] 5007 extracted from the MR 1 grism spectra observed with the OASIS attached to the CFHT 3.6 m telescope. The [O III] forbidden Gaussian line profiles exhibited asymmetric features with an excess of the blue component: (1) strongest at a distance of about 960 pc from the galaxy center, and (2) a wider line width of about ~900 km s-1 in the NS direction of the center. The velocity distributions in the spectral images showed blue or approaching flow motion in the NE zone, while receding in the SW zone, implying the counter-clockwise rotation. The radial velocity data showed that the center of the AGN region appears to be blocked by gas-dust approaching toward the Earth.

A SPECTROSCOPIC STUDY OF THE CLOSE BINARY AG VIRGINIS (근접쌍성 AG Virginis의 분광학적 연구)

  • We performed a new high-resolution spectroscopy of AG Vir for 4 nights from 25 March 2004 using the BOES (Bohyunsan Optical Echelle Spectrograph) attached to the 1.8-m reflector at Bohyunsan Optical Astronomy Observatory, and obtained a total of 59 spectra where all orbital phases are covered. To get the radial velocities of the binary system, both method of the CCF (Cross-Co..elation Function)and the BF (Broadening Function) were applied to the analysis of all the observed spectra. From these, the CCF could calculate the radial velocities of the primary star alone, while the BF could determine those of the primary and the secondary components. New absolute dimensions were deduced with the combination of our spectroscopic orbital elements ($K_1=90.5km/s$$K_2=258.8$) and the photometric solutions of Bell, Rainger, & Hilditch (1990): $A_1,=1.99M_\bigodot,\;M_2=0.62M_\bigodot,\;R_1=2.21R_\bigodot,\;R_2=1.36R_\bigodot,\;L_1=13.17L_\bigodot,\;and\;L_2=3.47L_\bigodot$. Our absolute parameters are larger and brighter than those derived from Bell, Rainger, & Hilditch (1990). We re-analyzed all the previous radial-velocity curves of AG Vir and, as a result, can see that its system velocity scatters largely up to ${\pm}8km/s$. However, we, at present, cannot determine this as the light-time effect due to the third body, which was suggested as a cause of the orbital period changes by Qian (2001).

Maneuvering Target Tracking With 3D Variable Turn Model and Kinematic Constraint (3D 가변 선회 모델 및 기구학적 구속조건을 사용한 기동표적 추적)

  • In this paper, research on estimation of states of a target of interest using Line Of Sight(LOS) angle measurement is performed. Target's position, velocity, and acceleration are chosen to be the states of interests. The LOS measurement is known to be highly non-linear, making target dynamic modeling hard to be implemented into a filter. To solve this issue, the Pseudomeasurement equation was applied to the LOS measurement equation. With the help of this equation, 3D variable turn target dynamic model is applied to the filter model. For better performance, Kinematic Constraint is also implemented into the filter model. As for the filter, Bias Compensation Pseudomeasurement Filter (BCPMF) is used which is known for its robustness to initial conditions. Moreover, Two-Stage Kalman Filter (TSKF) form was also implemented to benefit from the parallel computation. As a result, TBCPMF 3DVT-KC is proposed and simulated to assess performance.

Festival visitors can be said as one of the post-modern tourists, so this figure has "performance turn" feature as well. It will be discussed here why festival visitors of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival want to visit the festival. As post-modern and post-fordism figure, festival visitors want to experience autonomy, competence and relationshjp based on the performance turn.
