  • Recently, according to the development of ubiquitous computing, the u-GIS which not only used in u-Transport, u-Care, u-Fun, u-Green, u-Business, u-Government, and u-City but also used to provides various spatial information such as the location of user is being the core technology of the ubiquitous computing environment. In this paper, we implemented an mobile spatio-temporal Query Processing Systems for handling the Spatio-Temporal Data in mobile equipment. The mobile spatio-temporal Query Processing Systems provides the spatio-temporal data type and the spatio-temporal operator that is expanded by the spatial data type and the spatial operator from OepenGIS "Simple Feature Specification for SQL". It supports arithmetic coding compression techniques that is considered with a spatio-temporal data specific character. It also provides the function of data cashing for improving the importation and exportation of the spatio-temporal data between a embedded spatio-temporal DBMS and u-GIS server.

  • The aim of this study is to investigate crime hotspot areas using the spatio-temporal cluster analysis which is possible to search simultaneously time range as well as space range as an alternative method of existing hotspot analysis only identifying crime occurrence distribution patterns in urban area. As for research method, first, crime data were collected from criminal registers provided by official police authority in M city, Gyeongnam and crime occurrence patterns were drafted on a map by using Geographic Information Systems(GIS). Second, by utilizing Ripley K-function and Space-Time Scan Statistics analysis, the spatio-temporal distribution of crime was examined. The results showed that the risk of crime was significantly clustered at relatively few places and the spatio-temporal clustered areas of crime were different from those predicted by existing spatial hotspot analysis such as kernel density analysis and k-means clustering analysis. Finally, it is expected that the results of this study can be not only utilized as a valuable reference data for establishing urban planning and crime prevention through environmental design(CPTED), but also made available for the allocation of police resources and the improvement of public security services.

  • Recently, based on dynamic location or mobility of moving object, many researches on pattern mining methods actively progress to extract more available patterns from various moving patterns for development of location based services. The performance of moving pattern mining depend on how analyze and process the huge set of spatio-temporal data. Some of traditional spatio-temporal pattern mining methods[1-6,8-11]have proposed to solve these problem, but they did not solve properly to reduce mining execution time and minimize required memory space. Therefore, in this paper, we propose new spatio-temporal pattern mining method which extract the sequential and periodic frequent moving patterns efficiently from the huge set of spatio-temporal moving data. The proposed method reduces mining execution time of $83%{\sim}93%$ rate on frequent moving patterns mining using the moving sequence tree which generated from historical data of moving objects based on hash tree. And also, for minimizing the required memory space, it generalize the detained historical data including spatio-temporal attributes into the real world scope of space and time using spatio-temporal concept hierarchy.

  • With the recent the use of spatio-temporal data mining which can extract various knowledge such as movement patterns of moving objects in history data of moving object gets increasing. However, the existing movement pattern extraction methods create lots of candidate movement patterns when the minimum support is low. Therefore, in this paper, we suggest the STMPE(Spatio-Temporal Movement Pattern Extraction) algorithm in order to efficiently extract movement patterns of moving objects from the large capacity of spatio-temporal data. The STMPE algorithm generalizes spatio-temporal and minimizes the use of memory. Because it produces and keeps short-term movement patterns, the frequency of database scan can be minimized. The STMPE algorithm shows more excellent performance than other movement pattern extraction algorithms with time information when the minimum support decreases, the number of moving objects increases, and the number of time division increases.

  • Recently, with increase and development of the wireless access network area, u-GIS Service is supported in various fields. Especially, spatio-temporal data is used in the mobile environment for the u-GIS service. However, there is no standard for the spatio-temporal data used in different spaces, spatio-temporal data processing technology is necessary to makes interoperability among mobile u-GIS services. Furthermore, it is also necessary to develop the system of gathering, storing, and managing the spatio-temporal data in consideration of small capacity and low performance of mobile devices. Therefore, in this paper, we designed and implemented a spatio-temporal query processing system based on GML to manage spatio-temporal data efficiently in the mobile environment. The spatio-temporal query processing system based on GML can offer a structured storage method which maps a GML schema to a storage table and a binary XML storage method which uses the Fast Infoset technique, so as to support interoperability that is an important feature of GML and increase storage efficiency. we can also provide spatio-temporal operators for rapid query processing of spatio-temporal data of GML documents. In addition, we proved that this system can be utilized for the u-GIS service to implement a virtual scenario.

  • Providing a semantic knowledge system using media ontologies requires not only conventional axiom reasoning but also knowledge extension based on various types of reasoning. In particular, spatio-temporal information can be used in a variety of artificial intelligence applications and the importance of spatio-temporal reasoning and expression is continuously increasing. In this paper, we append the LOD data related to the public address system to large-scale media ontologies in order to utilize spatial inference in reasoning. We propose an RDFS/Spatial inference system by utilizing distributed memory-based framework for reasoning about large-scale ontologies annotated with spatial information. In addition, we describe a distributed spatio-temporal SPARQL parallel query processing method designed for large scale ontology data annotated with spatio-temporal information. In order to evaluate the performance of our system, we conducted experiments using LUBM and BSBM data sets for ontology reasoning and query processing benchmark.

  • Spatio-temporal join operators are essential to the management of spatio-temporal data such as moving objects. For example, the join operators are parts of processing to analyze movement of objects and search similar patterns of moving objects. Various studies on spatio-temporal join queries in outdoor space have been done. Recently with advance of indoor positioning techniques, location based services are required in indoor space as well as outdoor space. Nevertheless there is no one about processing of spatio-temporal join query in indoor space. In this paper, we introduce continuous spatio-temporal self-join queries in indoor space and propose a method of processing of the join queries over stream data of moving objects. The continuous spatio-temporal self-join query is to update the joined result set satisfying spatio-temporal predicates continuously. We assume that positions of moving objects are represented by symbols such as a room or corridor. This paper proposes a data structure, called Candidate Pairs Buffer, to filter and maintain massive stream data efficiently and we also investigate performance of proposed method in experimental study.

  • Spatial phenomena such as environment pollution, disease and the risk of spreading information need a rapid initial response to perceive spread event. Moving data perceive spread event through real-time processing and analysis. To process and analysis the event, spatial-temporal complex event processing is used. Previous spatialtemporal complex event processing is possible basis spatial operator but insufficient apply to design spatialtemporal complex event processing to perceive spatial phenomena of high complexity. This study proposed hierarchical spatio-temporal CEP design which will efficiently manage the fast growing incoming sensor data. The implementation of the proposed design is evaluated with GPS location data of moving vehicles which are used as the incoming data stream for identifying spatial events. The spatial component of existing CEP software engine has been extended during the implementation phase to broaden the capabilities of processing spatio-temporal events.

  • With the development of wireless network technology, the location information of a spatiotemporal object which changes their location is used in various application. Each spatiotemporal object has many location information, hence it is inefficient to search all trajectory information of spatiotemporal objects for a range query. In this paper, we propose an efficient method which divides a trajectory and stores its division data on restricted storage space. Using suboptimal split algorithm, an extended split algorithm that minimizes the volume of EMBRs(Extended Minimum Bounding Box) is designed and simulated. Our experimental evaluation confirms the effectiveness and efficiency of our proposed splitting policy
