Drawing of Twenty Kinds of State and Process on Psychrometric Chart (습공기선도 상에 20 종류의 상태 및 과정 값의 작도)

  • Psychrometric chart displays graphically the thermophysical properties of moist air, so it is very conveniently used in air-conditioning and refrigeration. On general psychrometric chart, there are dry bulb temperature, web bulb temperature, absolute humidity ratio, relative humidity, specific enthalpy, specific volume, sensible heat factor, and enthalpy-humidity difference ratio. However, various state and process values besides aboves can be plotted on psychrometric chart. In this study, we developed the software drawing twenty kinds of lines, that is vapor pressure, mole fraction ratio of vapor, dew point temperature, degree of saturation, density, specific entropy, specific exergy, contact or bypass factor, uncomfort index, discomposition index, predicted mean vote index, predicted percent dissatisfied, and so on. We wish to this software is a help to design, analysis and education.

ANALYTICAL STUDY ON EVAPORATIVE COOLING POTENTIAL AND POWER GAINS OF AIR COMPRESSORS BY INLET FOGGING (입구공기 안개법에 의한 공기압축기의 증발냉각도와 출력이득에 관한 연구)

  • The ever increasing demand for power and the shortages encountered during summer calls for the implementation of strategies for power saving in industry. Inlet fogging of gas turbine engines is quite popular due to the ease of installation and the relatively low initial cost compared to other inlet cooling methods. In the present investigation, a detailed analysis is carried out on the basis of coincident wet bulb and dry bulb temperature data of a compressed air plant from April to October, 2007 to determine the evaporative cooling potential for the period. The power gain that can be obtained by employing inlet fogging of the air compressors is analyzed based on the real climatic data at several sites in Korea. An experimental set-up was constructed and tests were carried out with the standard impaction pin nozzle. The experimental results were found to match with the theoretical calculations.

  • The ventilation effect of a ventilation system, which is classified as the forced ventilation and natural ventilation, is predominantly dependent on the combination of air supply and discharge. Perhaps the simplest ventilation is merely supplying the air as it is. However, to improve the indoor working environment during the summer, an air supply that is cooled to some extent has been widely adopted. Recently, a cooling method utilizing the vaporization of water was introduced. In this study, the performance of an evaporation-type air supply unit that was produced by Japan K-company and was installed in a shoe-manufacturing plant in Busan was investigated. The purpose of the experiment was to measure how much the supplied air could be cooled. From this experimental study, we confirmed that the evaporation-type air supply system is efficient, capable of improving the working environment during the summer while minimizing the energy cost.
